I love Beauty 4 U!! I've recently decided to stop shopping with Amazon and Target since they've rolled back their DEI initiatives. I don't come in here often but this is one of my moms favorite hair stores. Its not in our area, but she will make the drive specifically to come here. Most other hair stores, the workers will kind of follow you around or have a million cameras that make you feel so unconfortable, (p.s. I hate being categorized). This store does not make you feel like you are a criminal as soon as you walk in. They have a very very large selection of all types of wigs, packs of hair, hair products, jewelry, etc. Anything you'd ever need to meet your hair needs you can find here. They have a rewards program which I think is amazing. I'm all about saving money. They also have sister stores that do the same rewards, so you can earn rewards no matter which store of theirs you go to. Only downfall, would be I was never asked if I needed help. I had to stop in here today to pick up some accessories for my daughter's high school show choir team. The first thing I did when I walked in the door was widen my eyes and exclaim, "It's huge!" The entire front half of the store is nothing but wigs. The second half of the store is literally everything else you might need--extensions, bangs, ponytails, make-up, hair accessories, nailpolish--you name it! I was amazed at all the amount of stock they carry. Like I mentioned, I went in for wig pins and walked out with those plus three bottles of nail polish, a hair brush, mascara applicators, bobby pins, and a few head bands. I needed to get back to work, since this was my lunch break excursion, but I'm definitely going back to explore the rest of the store, and I'm bringing my teenage daughter with me. read more

So I been going here for a long time before I decided to buy a wig from them. The first time went well and the wig lasted a really time but today I went in to buy another one... The one on the mannequin was far more appealing than the one I received. I told the employee which one I wanted and she said "ok we have a new one in the back I'll give you that one and it's exactly the same I promise!" So I was like ok and she brought out another one and I paid for it and left while under the impression it was EXACTLY the same. Once I got home the wig was a cheaper, choppier version of the one in the store. The cut is uneven and the baby hairs are poorly cut and straighter than the curly hairs on the mannequin. It sucks and don't trust them to bring a wig from the back bc it's a whack variant of the one you want. read more

I I see now why this place has such bad reviews. Purchased a very expensive 7 piece clip in hair extension set. It's very difficult to see what color an item is in their horrible fluorescent lighting so immediately when I got them home I realized that they did not match my hair correctly. I called their store and was told if the hair was in the original packaging I could exchange it. I drove the hour to the store and was told because I took the twist tie out of the extensions that hold them in place in the original package that they could not exchange them despite being told that I could. I have standards for basic customer service. Saying hello, asking if you need anything, MAYBE even a smile. Can you find that at Beauty 4U? Not so much. Even on a slow Saturday morning, the employees were much more into their video chats & text messages to acknowledge the two shoppers in their store. So I visited this location to check out options for buying my friend a wig who is Trans and taking T resulted in hair loss which was really affecting their self esteem. I had visited to ask questions like whether it was one size fits all, whether there were others accessories like a wig cap that would be needed etc. The two Asian female employees were very short, rude, and passive agressive. I was treated like all my questions were stupid, and I should just hurry up and buy something. I came back just a couple of days later, I had gotten off work, had to drive to Indy to pick up my friend and raced to the store. We arrived a little late, 8:45-8:48, but as I had already looked at the prices and styles and they knew exactly what wig they wanted, didn't think there would be any problems. The interaction was so incredibly cringey with stereotypical passive aggressive Asian service, or lack there of, that borderlines on straight up aggressive verbal abuse. I was incredibly polite and told them that yes, I was aware that they were closing very soon, and assured them that we would be well able to select the wig, pay, and be gone in mere minutes, well before 9 o'clock. WE WERE THROWN OUT OF THE STORE AND REFUSED SERVICE!!! With a bright glowing OPEN sign in the window, with 10 minutes to spare, with a glowing red sign listing hours till 9 on the window, and also listed online. INCREDIBLY RUDE, TERRIBLE SERVICE! I am a very polite, well mannered, patient, cultured, and well traveled individual... but I could feel myself becoming more racist every minute I interacted with these people. Both times I was treated like my questions were stupid, like I wasn't at all serious about buying anything, like I was wasting THEIR time by shopping at their store! THEY SET THE HOURS! THEY SET THE PRICES! IF THOSE TIMES AND THOSE PRICES DON"T WORK FOR THEM, THEY SHOULD CHANGE THEM AND NOT SAY THEY ARE OPEN UNTIL 9!! I mean, I should have known even stepping into a store that has a NUMBER in the name as well as a U for you... tacky... fucking tacky. I will absolutely never, ever give this store any of my business and I will actively participate in deterring others. I normally really like this store but this time was really weird. I stopped by the store, when they opened, to pick up a moisturizer for my hair. I took five steps into the store and an associate demanded that I hand over my purse for her to search. I asked for an explanation and she claimed that an alarm sounded in the store when I came in. I agreed, even though it was ridiculous. She searched my bag and found nothing. I continued shopping for what I needed and for the next ten minutes I would see the same associate come into every lane I walked into, pretending to straighten up hair clips and the like. I thought I was being ridiculous but this woman searched my bag and then proceeded to follow me around the store, like I had already stolen something or was thinking about stealing. It was just really interesting that this store, run by people of Asian descent, was capitalizing on African American beauty products while being racist toward their targeted clientele. Do not patronize this establishment. Customer service and decency are not their forte. Patrons are not greeted, assistance is rare, and the overall quality of many of their products is lacking. I attempted to patronize Beauty 4 U on two separate occasions, offering the benefit of the doubt that the first awful experience was a fluke. The first visit was lackluster and the second was just plain disrespectful, rude, offensive, etc. The first visit was spent attempting to locate (and maintain ANY level of attention from) staff. One staff member was busy stretching (leg up on the display counter), another was FaceTiming. On my second visit, it was explained to me that, due to "policy", trying more than 3 wigs would not be allowed...despite the fact that (prior to trying on a single wig) I had already stated that I would need a minimum of seven and would need to try on several. I asked IN ADVANCE to try on more than three and this was initially approved. As I attempted to try on a fourth wig (already prepared to purchase the previous three), the stack of wigs I was surveying was removed and the person assisting me went back to the display counter and resumed her telephone call, as though I was no longer there. There was no one else in the store. When asked for further assistance, the person assisting me pointed to a sign that said, "Try on three wigs only" and continued her conversation as though that was an acceptable response to a potential consumer. I politely bid her adieu and vowed never to return. TL; DR -- tried using them twice; first time I received ZERO customer service, second time I was completely disregarded and offended. DO NOT SHOP HERE. You're better off online...same wigs, at least 10-15% cheaper! read more

We went here to get a wig for my mother. It was a quiet day. They had a large selection. This was our first time in a wig store so we didn't have any idea what to do. They let us try on 4 wigs. I noticed they were allowing another customer to try on more as well. The wig cap policy now is that if you don't buy a wig they will charge you $1 for the cap. We found something so we didn't have an issue. The lady was nice and demonstrated who my mothers wig worked and cut out the lining. Who knows maybe I will go back and get one for myself for fun! read more

Never will I ever go here again!! This place is horrible...all they do is WATCH and FOLLOW all the blacks that come in. I went in one night to go buy hair and there was this horrendous girl behind the counter who was supposed to be helping customers with their weave selections but she was too busy watching the two African American couples that walked in before me. Wow! I would avoid this place like a plague. Went with a cancer pt., first trip out. The employee told us that she could not help us for 30 minutes and that Monday would be better for her. She chose to vacuum the store instead. When she finished, she told us that we could try one wig on IF we were not planning on buying it today, and maybe 3 if we were buying one today. "We have rules, otherwise people would try wigs on all day and then go buy them on the internet". This was an understandably difficult trip before encountering this employee. I can only hope that if she ends up needing some hair in the future, that she will have a similar experience. Last to note, you have to purchase a hair cover to try on the wigs...and still our employee was unwilling to assist us. Be forewarned and go elsewhere. No stars here. read more

Do not patronize shops where the associates are rude. If you are like me, you work hard for your money. When you are searching for the perfect wig for yourself, you might need to try on a few. This location only allows you to try on 3 wigs and if you don't like the 3 that you tried on, you're out of luck. What kind of business is that. The women in there were talking about me in another language and staring at me. Then when I kindly said that I understand your policy, but I have all intentions on purchasing a wig from you- they said, "you already try on you 3". I said you put I on me that I did not select because you thought it would look good on me. So, actually, I only tried on 2 wigs. She stated, "that still 3". I said I guess I'll have to go to DJ's.
