I could see coming here just to loiter and work on a laptop or read a book, in which case I'd buy a coffee or tea because I had to. But wouldn't bother with the desserts. Come to think of it, even Starbucks has better desserts. Maybe their savory dishes are better? I'd certainly hope so. But, it's easy to understand why this chain seems to do well...most folks are easily wowed by the sheer aesthetics of the place, such that they don't really mind or care if their tastebuds are being put to sleep despite the price premium they're paying.
