Five stars all day!!! My situation started in July 2024 when…read moremy transmission went out on a road trip through Northern California. I was towed into Hartnell Transmission and met Dale. Unfortunately I needed a whole new transmission and had to leave the truck for a few days. Dale was extremely fair and honest, and did a fantastic job rebuilding my transmission. It even came with a 2-year warranty !! Fast forward to this week. The new transmission has been great but we experienced a minor issue. I gave Dale a call and he recommended two transmission shops in Reno where we could take the truck to be checked. The shop I chose stated the transmission was damaged beyond repair due to a clogged air filter and would not be covered under warranty. This made no sense!! I called Dale at Hartnell and relayed the message. Dale assured me that any issues with the new transmission would be covered. Dale called the other shop and ultimately paid for the diagnosis and asked that I take the truck out of that shop and take it to the other for a second opinion. Turns out there is no serious issue after all and the transmission was given a clean bill of health. I appreciate Dale's professionalism and excellent customer service. Now, I wish my transmission never died, but since it did, I'm very happy it ended up at Hartnell transmission. Thank you Dale!!!!!

I called around and got Mike who told me to bring it in, they are busy but it might be a quick fix. Paul got involved and did a careful diagnosis of the problem. The pan of course needed to be replaced. More importantly another part inside was bent, and if they could not fix it, I would need a new valve body, the part cost over $1,100 and would take a week to deliver, which Paul thought was ridiculous. He took this on as a challenge to fix the transmission parts without buying a new valve body. He worked hard on it, and in the end was successful! I saved a bunch of money, and they got me back on the road home. Great work, and much appreciated!

I generally work on my own vehicles, so Rueben gets the jobs that my wife doesn't me spending hours in the garage working on. He is always busy, it may take you a month to get an appointment, but the work will be worth it. A word of advice, if he's telling you to replace something, LISTEN. He warned me to get a new torque converter, I said reuse the old one. The torque converter failed less than 1200 miles later. He also does diesels and general repair.

They lie constantly and overcharge, never pulled my trans, put in a used TCM, charged me $3500.00, and gave it back with a large scratch on the fender and a leaky transmission. If I hadn't gotten under the truck and looked it over It would have run out of fluid and burned up, it was leaking that much. don't know who wrote all the good reviews but I think it was Steve or some of his cronies in the shop. Tried talking to Steve but all he would do was cuss and get loud, such a blowhard jerk my opinion. I can't overstate just how above-and-beyond this shop is…read more My 1991 Ford E-350 7.3l diesel has a broken fuel gauge, so I tend to fill up every 100 miles out of an abundance of caution. I pushed it a little further than I should have, and ran out of fuel about 2 miles from the nearest gas station in Redding. After a local towing service denied my AAA and tried to charge me nearly $250 for a 2-mile tow to the gas station, I was left stranded on the shoulder of the northbound I-5. I called this shop and told them what happened, and without any hesitation the owner himself came to meet me with a 5-gallon can of diesel. Not only did he get fuel in my tank, help me prime the fuel filter, and get the air out of the fuel lines right there on the side of the freeway - he also made sure to elaborate on WHY this happens with my particular vehicle, explaining the nature of the issue and how it's a common problem with older diesel Fords. He then said he wanted me to come by the shop so they could give the vehicle a once-over. They replaced an air filter in less than 20 minutes (only delay was waiting for the part to get delivered over), and even found some replacement bolts for the interior engine compartment cover that I had been missing for years. All of this combined, including the roadside service, was less than what that despicable towing company wanted to charge me. I'm tempted to drive up from Los Angeles more often, simply to get service of this quality. Many thanks!

Thankfully he happened to find Veterans Diesel. The guys there were so incredibly nice, friendly, knowledgeable and got his truck in right away to be looked at. They fixed the problem and charged us thousands less than what we were quoted at the "other" place. From now on we will only be taking the truck here and trust these guys 100%. Highly recommend!!!
