In large part because of Nora's Spanish Cuisine, my 70th birthday party was a huge success. The appetizers and paella were delicious! The guests loved having the paella made in front of them. Emily, the owner was delightful and responsive- and chose the perfect wine to pair with the food. The servers were excellent and took good care of my guests. For great food and perfect execution, Nora's is an awesome choice. read more

We had Nora Spanish Cuisine cater our wedding last month. While our experience with Nora wasn't perfect, there were many positives throughout and beyond our wedding planning coordination with them. Leading up to our event, we communicated solely with Jamie. She was very easy to work with as she was organized, flexible, and knowledgeable about what things her and her staff would be able to accomplish. We were able to make a few menu selection changes while staying within the same payment tier. She even came with us out to the venue the weekend before to make sure we were aligned on the event's timeline and so she could see the layout of the venue in person. We felt we were in good hands. We did have some issues with Jamie, as the Event Manager, and her staff arriving quite late (with no communication to let us know and with no apology) on the day of the wedding which led to added stress and resulted in a variety of downstream issues as they had to play catchup. Nevertheless, the quality of the food was excellent. We got many compliments about the food, namely the Paella Marinera, the Croqueta de champinones, and the Coca, and we enjoyed it ourselves. The chef and the bartenders were also really fun and kind, which improved our guests' experience. After the event, we had follow-up communications with Sergio, and he was very professional and a great communicator. Overall, I'm keeping this review fairly brief, but these summarize our main takeaways as to why we give a 4-star review, and why we recommend you try their food at La Marcha Tapas Bar ASAP: it's delicious! read more

We used Nora's Spanish catering for our wedding rehearsal dinner for 70 people and loved it! They were easy to work with throughout the process and very responsive. The presentation was beautiful and fun for guests to watch the paella making, and surprisingly affordable. There was a ton of food leftover which they boxed up. Also my husband went to Berkeley and liked La Marcha so we knew we would like the food, although they only offer tastings for weddings. read more

Excellent service, food, and experience. We had them cater for our wedding. We first tried their food at their brick and mortar restaurant, La Marcha. Instantly fell in love with the tapas and paella. They were communicative when planning, flexible when serving, and made our lunch banquet one to remember. Highly recommend to make your event special! read more

I selected Nora's Spanish Cuisine for a corporate event and was so pleased with the service from start to finish. Emily my contact during the quote and preparation phase, and she was so responsive and helpful throughout the whole process. On the day of the event, Adriana and Yolanda were the chefs. They did a phenomal job of prepping the tapas and laying it out, setting up and prepping the paella in the courtyard, and laying out the desserts on schedule. They were so sweet and efficient with everything. The food was unbelievably delicious--several of my guests specifically asked me who the caterer was because they loved the food. For the teardown portion, Adriana and Yolanda did a great job of putting food in portable containers, cleaning up their areas flawlessly, and making sure I was aware of what they were doing and when. I couldn't believe how much food was left over--they were generous with their portion sizes. We were able to take the leftovers to a local shelter so that they wouldn't go to waste. I would use Nora's again in a heartbeat. I highly recommend them from start to finish! read more

Nora Spanish Catering catered our summer 2025 wedding and we were thrilled with the service and the quality of the food. Our guests are still raving about the paella and tapas weeks later! We also appreciated that their menu is so friendly to many different dietary restrictions. It was easy to craft a menu with vegan and gluten free options, while giving our meat eaters what they wanted too! Emily and her team were fantastic communicators. We had a very helpful planning walk through that ensured they knew our preferences, and that we had thought through all the details they needed to know. On the day-of, Jessica was our lead and she kept everything running flawlessly. The serving staff were friendly, professional, and upbeat the whole time. We highly recommend using Nora Spanish Catering for a big event! read more

We hired Nora for our backyard wedding, which was a big feat given the limited space available and immense physical demands of flipping the ceremony space into a dining area within an hour. The team made magic happen. Emily and her crew are nothing short of miracle workers, and the food was one of the best parts of the whole night. People keep telling us it's the best wedding food they've ever had. If you're looking for something easy, delicious, and so so memorable, Nora really is the way to go! read more

Amazing food and even more amazing team! We had Nora cater our Welcome Party for our wedding and they went over and beyond to make sure everything was perfect! We had Nora Spanish Cuisine provide catering services for our wedding and we couldn't have been happier with the results! We hadn't thought to have paella for dinner at our wedding reception but we went for it and were so glad we did! Dalia and her team took the time to understand the specifics that we were interested in and brought our vision to life beautifully! The cocktail hour tapas were all fantastic and expertly served to our guests. The team was even able to handle our very custom request of building a cake out of some doughnuts we ordered! As mentioned, the paella was scrumptious and presented beautifully. After dinner we even had guests come up to us to comment about how good the food was! All in all the experience was great and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend Nora Spanish Cuisine for their excellent services! read more

It was a great experience. I had a party of 20 people - everybody liked the food and the service!

After a successful tasting at the restaurant we decided to go with Nora (La Marcha) for our wedding & couldn't be happier. Food & service were fantastic. It's so rare that a wedding actually has good food and we wanted to change that. We fell in love with the food at the tasting & when we met their catering team we fell in love with them! They really added to the night. Owner, Sergio reached out personally to thank us afterwards. Highly recommend! read more

This is my second big party (80pp) catered by NORA with Emily Sarlatte. First a big shout out to Emily Sarlatte, the PRO. She's FAST to size up what your needs are; EFFICIENT & EXPERIENCED to all of the needs from food, to sourcing right wine and rentals of all kinds. She is 100% ORGANIZED and communicates concisely from event timing to serving to cleanup. La Marcha / Nora doesn't stop at just being a solid caterer, Emily takes the lead as a great resource for a one-stop shop if you are one with a busy schedule and you want someone in addition to perhaps an event planner to help organize & have their eye to every detail of the event. I had both and they worked well together. NORA Staff: Quiet, efficient and professional. A special shout out to the one bartender that was just sooo funny and welcoming to my guests, that I totally loved this personal touch. NORA Food: I'm a fan and the food is consistently GOOD as expected. I did not have much left over from this party which I appreciated as through the years, I've witness first hand way too much waste in catered events. No leftover wine or too many half empty bottles to be had was another pleasant sight for me to see. Overall, they did an amazing job catering my event. I appreciate the most how thoughtful and practical she drove this catering process for me from the seamless set up, to absolutely order just-about-right amount of food/wine as evident through the minimal left-overs. I felt taken care of through & through. Hats off to Emily & NORA! Thanks again for a fabulous party. read more

We had Nora cater our wedding in Santa Cruz. Overall great with just small details to hone in on. The highpoints: everything that's not listed under watch-outs below, especially: - pre-event coordination communications with Emily and her team: fast responses and detail oriented, with tips to boost the event experience - my guests of many mixed cultural backgrounds all raved about the tapas (tocinos! And the variety on display) and paellas. We chose the experiencia gastronomia - presentation of the tapas buffet nicely laid out. Also having the paella chef cook live, everybody from floor 1 to floor 3 at the venue smelled it - so good! As mentioned, everything not mentioned below has been great, too many to list! Improvements: -at times, the team of servers seemed to a bit distracted or haven't worked together enough to know what should come next - servers laid out the dinner tables and seating too tight, a little more common sense would have helped to space out the guest seatings much more comfortably, and leaving less dead space. To be fair, it was a little tricky to layout things in the venue, they probably did their best with limited supervision - I chose the plates to serve the paellas in, which may have been a tad bigger than the plates Nora normally uses. This is probably why the paella chef served portions that were too big for the guests at the head of the buffet line, leaving the end of the line without paella. This is something you should look out for and communicate clearly with the team lead and the paella chef. If you are like me and called up small groups of people at a time to line up, do let the chef know how many groups to expect and spread out what they prepared. Emily was able to use the leftover tapas to make up for this gap, kudos. read more

Nora did an absolutely PERFECT job catering our backyard wedding. The catering staff went above and beyond to make sure our guests were provided for, and that the bride and groom had plates set aside (as well as gently reminding us to take a moment to eat). The food was amazing, the chefs so well prepared and on it. I knew I would be happy with my choice but I didn't know I would be thrilled! I recommend them HIGHLY to anyone considering using them for their next event! read more

Nora Spanish Cuisine catered a paella party at a boathouse for us and it was wonderful! Everyone we worked with was very professional and detailed-oriented. We had a detailed plan when the staff would arrive, how the food was to be served (some tapas on a buffet table and some tapas passed), sides and paella served from the buffet table, leftovers were neatly packaged and set out so people could make take-home containers (we provided) and almost everyone did because the food was delicious! The platters we ordered were beautiful and any fried food was made on the spot so the patatas bravas and croquettes were hot and crispy and so yummy It was a very hot day, but there were always plenty of cold drinks and the bar/drinks table was immaculate - no stray bottle caps or used glasses, etc. Lynn did an excellent job in making sure everything went according to plan and was very good about checking in during the event if we wanted to do things earlier or later depending on the party flow. They left everything as neat as a pin and took all the trash with them. (For us it was definitely worth it to get the compostable plates and forks from them - the plates were very sturdy and attractive with a nice wood pattern design) read more

I had a stellar experience with both the planning and execution of my 55th birthday party, for 35 guests in Santa Cruz. My communication with Emily was awesome, as she was clear about what they needed and also offered some options around cooking on site and full catering. She was upfront about how much I was ordering and that I was a little over the top for the amount of folks I was feeding. I felt confident in taking it down a few notches and STILL had food leftover, just the right amount! It was super helpful to me as someone who doesn't get full catering often. Even though I chose to go with drop off rather than full service because of the weather everything was perfect. Nora's was on time delivery, Emily explained what each dish was, and didn't leave until I had my questions answered. The food was delicous, full-flavored (I was nervous about this because my friends are foodies) and a diversity of options for my vegan friends. That day I got multiple compliments and even after I recieved a few text and calls telling me they were still thinking about the food! . Thank you so much Emily and the chefs at Noras - you are a major reason my 55th was pretty epic. I would absolutely work with you all again. read more

Ñora catered our wedding last week, and I will start by saying that the food was delicious and the day-of staff were awesome and very helpful. However, you do not want to work with them unless you are willing to quadruple check every last item, be stood up for phone calls, and accept that they will not take any notes on your allergies or preferences. I had to fix hundreds of dollars worth of incorrect fees (for example, entering the wrong distance for travel and charging extra admin fees). Even worse, we had been very clear that we had several people with life-threatening shellfish allergies (including the mother of the groom), and that we wanted our paella to be chicken only. Lo and behold, the day of my wedding, I walk up to the paella and it is covered in shellfish. We were extremely lucky that the venue was outside and that there was no cross contamination. When I emailed Ñora to let them know that this happened (not asking for anything, just informing them), we didn't even receive a reply, let alone an apology. To sum up: Food was great, servers are great, but this was the worst vendor we worked with by far. If I had to re-plan my wedding I would skip the headaches and go with someone more professional. read more

We couldn't have picked a better caterer for our wedding. Sergio, Emily and Jaimie were incredible at making our dream wedding a reality. They were attentive and helpful through every part of the planning process. When it came time for the reception, it was better than I could ever have imagined. I knew the food would be awesome, and it was, but the attention to detail, the professionalism, service and the quality were beyond anything I could have hoped for. A wedding can be stressful but I can say that with certainty that the guidance and precision from the team at Nora made the whole process smooth and easy. They thought of absolutely everything and made me feel confident that our reception would be perfect. And it was. If you are considering hiring Nora to cater your event, do it! You won't regret it. Sergio and his team at Nora Spanish Catering were rockstars at our wedding! First, we were victims of having to move our wedding 3 times due to COVID, and the team at Nora was always so positive, flexible and supportive as we navigated the craziness. When it finally came time to celebrate this May (2021), everyone was completely FLOORED by the quality of food provided. The appetizers were incredible (they even made a gorgeous plate for us post nuptials to enjoy during photos!), fresh/hot/tasty. And of course, the paella was a huge hit. It was a beautiful, interactive experience for guests to watch the paella come to life during cocktail hour, and was SOOOOOO TASTY! We had three types of paella available, and the servers were very generous with portions, while making sure everyone was able to try all three if they wanted. There was plenty of food to go around, and offer seconds to those interested. The team was great to work with and our venue had nothing but wonderful things to say about them. They also helped coordinate all rentals needed for the evening which was such a nice perk (and we got a 10% discount!). We can't wait to enjoy their paella at their restaurant and re-live our wedding dinner! Venue: Taber Ranch (https://taberranch.com) Photographer: Liz Erban (https://lizerban.com) read more

I hosted a 75th birthday party for my mom at my house with 50 guests. Nora's did an excellent job and everyone raved about the presentation and flavor of the food, as well as the professionalism of the paella chefs and servers assigned to our event. Shout out to Paulo, Yolanda, Lynn and Jane! We adored them. We had a few plant-based guests (including me) and the vegetarian and vegan options on their catering menu were excellent. My mom was very happy! My only critique is that there was a lull in communicativeness in the months leading up to our event. I had to email several times and then leave voicemails to get someone to respond. While I had a booking contract in place, their silence worried me and I just wanted assurance that they'd show up day of! Thankfully, Emily reached out, was very apologetic, and then was highly communicative and professional from there on out. I would definitely recommend Nora's for your event and several guests asked for their info! read more

Nora's did a fantastic job catering our wedding! Nora Spanish Catering catered my cousin's wedding reception at Mills College in Oakland. Nora handled hors d'oeuvres (passed tapas) and dinner which consisted of two impressive pans of paella. Take a look: https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/nora-spanish-catering-berkeley?select=7Ar5b0sCtYG3ww7ciTWVrA&userid=j14WgRoU_-2ZE1aw1dXrJg. Nora's paella was definitely the star of the show. The caterers had an outdoor setup in a small, concrete courtyard next to the indoor reception hall. They had two huge pans of paella and one smaller pan of paella. Each pan had a different type of paella with the small pan containing a special vegetarian paella. Each pan was fueled separately by its own propane tank. The caterers brought a rug to place all the equipment on. This not only helped with presentation, but also for stability of the pans and to protect the floor. Along with paella, the dinner station contained a salad and a side. Here's what I tried: * Bruselas - fried Brussels sprouts with grapes and PX balsamic glaze * Ensalada de Naranja - wild arugula, seasonal citrus (in this case, blood orange and kumquats), shaved fennel, sherry vinaigrette * Paella Tres Cerditos - chorizo, smoked belly, shoulder chop, garbanzo beans, leeks, red pasilla peppers, apple cider, saffron, rice * Paella a la Marinera - Gulf prawns, calamari, Manilla clams, mussels, leeks, green peas, roasted garlic, sweet peppers, saffron, rice In general, for catered food prepared for over 120 guests, I thought the food was tasty and good quality. The ingredients were fresh and the meal was freshly cooked (I actually observed them setting up and cooking during cocktail hour). The arugula salad was delicious and the Brussels sprouts were A-OK. The "PX" in the PX balsamic glaze stands for Pedro Ximenez, a Spanish wine grape variety. I will say I thought both the meat paella (Tres Cerditos) and the seafood paella (Marinera) were lacking in both meat and seafood. For example, in the Tres Cerditos, the slices of sausage were tiny and in the Marinera, I only got one clam, one mussel, and no calamari. Outside of the somewhat underwhelming portions, the paellas weren't bad, taste-wise. There were four servers, one responsible for serving each of the four dishes listed above. They were great. They were friendly and served us with a smile. During cocktail hour, I tried a couple tapas. One was the Croqueta de Champinones which consisted of shiitake, porcini, and cremini mushrooms with manchego cheese, bechamel, and mojo verde. It was (temperature) hot and yummy. The other was Montadito de Piquillo, a goat-cheese-stuffed piquillo pepper with hazelnut breadcrumbs, radicchio, and honey balsamic. Also good. I saw some pinchos (grilled skewers) being passed around; specifically, Gambas - smoked pimenton (paprika), tiger prawns, and manzanilla olives, but I couldn't eat them due to an allergy. Each skewer contained a large, seasoned prawn wrapped around an olive. Tapas I didn't see, but were on the menu, included Tortilla (egg, potato, and onion omelette), Montadito de Pulpo (slow-cooked octopus), and Montadito de Cerdo (marinated confit pork). The vegetarian paella, which I didn't try, was the Paella Huertana made with kabocha squash, cipollini onions, chickpeas, cauliflower, saffron, and rice. Overall, I think Nora Spanish Catering is a fine choice for a more casual caterer with fun and eclectic cuisine. read more

Thank you Dalia and Alexa for working so closely with me to cater for our organization's 40th anniversary event at Curiodyssey! Overall, I had a great experience working with them. I hired Nora as the caterer for my wedding last October, and it went beautifully. I worked primarily with Adrian and Ama, and on the day we had Emily (one of the cofounders, I think?) overseeing everything. We went to Berkeley for a tasting and fell in love with the paella right away. It's amazing, and the unique part is that they cook it in huge pans outside which can be part of the experience. Adrian was our main point of contact and she made everything easy. She was very professional, and even when we were a little worried about tying up some details with our coordinator, Adrian was on top of things. She came out to the venue a couple times -- all the way to San Francisco -- which was awesome. On the day, the servers made everything go smoothly -- bar was set up, dinner was set up, dessert was ready to go on time, and they helped with the cake cutting (on request). It was such a relief to have them taking care of everything! Also I will say that I had to adjust the food a lot over the months based on our budget -- we cut the cocktail hour tapas, for instance -- and overall Nora was really easygoing with all that. I didn't feel pressured or locked in to anything. Everybody loved the food. Even my older relatives who I was nervous wouldn't like anything too "exotic" said, "I don't know what that rice stuff was, but it was so good!" Also the bartender was generous with the cocktails, everyone commented they were strong but not complaining about that. Such a fun night. Only tip is ask for to-go boxes! The night flew by and I wish I'd had more time to eat and take some home for later. read more
