I first heard of Borde and Banter through IG, thought I would give it a try. I ordered for my employees for a work event and they loved it. It was a nice change from the usual donuts or bagels. I ordered the large premium charcuterie board with a few extras. I asked for a wooden board instead of the paper tray, and she was totally fine with that. It was about $190, not including the wooden board. The setup looked great and had a solid mix of meats, cheeses, fruit, and snacks. I had other food at the event, so I didn't need the full grazing table--but this easily fed 15 people. Everything was fresh, communication was easy, and delivery was right on time. Super smooth experience all around. I'd definitely order again for another event.

Surprised how hard it was to find a Yelp listing for a place that packs gourmet quality pic-nic lunches. The first two on Yelp's search list acted like they'd never heard of picnics. Then I found Borde & Banter and its founder, Raquel. BIG SUCCESS! I exlplained that I was looking for a romantic Mother's Day picnic so as to skip the endless waiting on the busiest brunch day of the year. Raquel got it right away and created a masterpiece of compact al fresco dining for two that wowed the intended Mom, (my girlfriend). Beautifully designed 10" dish with an astounding variety of delights: prosciutto, salami, edible flowers, crudite, several kinds of cheese, macaroons, candied orange slices, cornichons. I stopped counting after 20 individual items all beautifully arranged and wrapped for presentation. I told Raquel we'd want something just to tide us over through an afternoon concert. We never got to the bottom of it. It's now 8 PM and we're still satisfied. No way would we have had a restaurant meal like this for the price. Plus, free delivery in San Francisco. The funny thing is that this isn't her main business. Borde & Banter is all about catering social and business gatherings. I'm looking forward to moving into our new home soon and how delighted our guests will be at our open house when they see what Raquel creates.

I had a work brunch event at my office and I had Borde & Banter come out and make a beautiful spread! Not only was the food great, the entire presentation of things really set the tone. Her eye for detail all the way to the smallest thing really brought the entire presentation to life. All everyone could talk about was who did it and can they have her number . We absolutely will be having Borde & Banter for all of our events to come!

The class was extremely informative! Bees are much more interesting than I gave them credit for. You will leave this class with an appreciation for honey bees and all the work that goes into making honey. The lady that lead the class was great. She was friendly and knowledgeable. The 1st part of the class was an indoor lecture. The 2nd half is outdoors, where you get to see the hives. Fortunately we were able to see an actual Queen bee. After learning about the process, seeing her was pretty exciting. The 3rd part was honey tasting. This was a very nice experience!

I am so scared of bees after being attacked and getting injured. My boss thought it would be a good idea for me to take this class and get over my fear. He bought the tickets on Groupon. On Groupon a beginners class for 2 is $160. Regular price is $300 You go to their website to make your reservation. The beginners classes are on Saturdays from 11 am to 2 pm, but not every weekend, so please check her calendar. In our class there were 16 people total. There is street parking, a little easier on a Saturday as many of the businesses are not open. You can bring your own water / drink into the class. She also has a very clean restroom. Christina, the owner, is very passionate about Bees. She learned from her Dad and has been at it for many years. She is very friendly, patient and great to get along with. Teh first 1.5 hours is inside listening to Christina talk about Bees. I have to say that I learned a lot. I had no idea that Bees were so dimensional, smart and interesting. What an animal! She allows for questions and is happy to answer them all. Some people come as they want to have bees themselves, some just want to learn. Then you suit up and go outside. We were outside for close to an hour. She carefully pulls apart one of her boxes to show us all the details inside. It is amazing. You get to see the Queen (ours was fertilizing an egg), all of the workers, the honey and the wax. Then you go back inside to taste the different flavors of honey that she makes and sells. Tips: 1) I brought a pair of disposable gloves to put on before the bee gloves as the suits are not washed. 2) As scared as I was, once you have the suit on you feel safe. 3) My husband did not wear a suit, if you are brave you do not have to. 4) Bring your phone with you in the suit to get some once in a lifetime pictures I can not say how much you should take this class. It is so interesting and educational and a great way to spend a few hours to support a local business. After you take this class, she also has an advanced class if you are interested in having your own bees. Thank you Christina.

I planned a dinner with a few of my corporate friends while I was in SF. I really appreciate it the mission of this restaurant and the work that they are doing so we reserved a table for a Wednesday. When you arrive, you enter into a long hallway filled with photos and you can hear the live music playing. The vibe is everything!!! We were greeted when we all were seated and one of the servers brought us a complimentary tray of sweet potato biscuits. They were not on the menu but they should be!! To start, I ordered a Cabernet, and I also started with some of the sweet chili glazed wings. The wings were so good!!! For my meal I had the braised short rib and my goodness.. it was absolutely delicious!!! I also ordered a side of macaroni and cheese which was creamy and flavorful! One of my friends ordered a side of greens and I'm telling you I don't know how they got so much wonderful flavor without any meat!! Absolutely delicious! Everyone's food at the table was devoured. We all kept talking about how delicious everything was and then we got to dessert. We have been talking about the sweet potato tarts before we even got to the restaurant and so of course we had to order those. That was one of the best desserts I've ever had in my life! Y'all have to get you some sweet potato tarts. We even had a few at the table take orders to go. One recommendation for check splitting, don't do it or talk about it at the very beginning with your server. We had a party of five and the splitting our check by individual orders at the end was not the best process at all. We should have just divided the check five ways evenly and figured it out on our own. All this to say that this place is so cool and the food is delicious!!!

Whenever we take it to a party, people always talk about how much they love it. There is only one type of noodle my mom uses it. And it comes from this place, and is sold at Pacific Supermarket. She often forgets the name of the noodle company, but she knows exactly what the label looks like, and if it's a good pack. These noodles seem to run out a lot, and every now and then there is a bad pack with a little mold. My mom doesn't get that turned off by this, she just think these noodles are so fresh, and don't have a lot of preservatives, and so some packs can be this way. She just knows not to buy it and look for better looking ones.

This is not some XXX, ABC, BBD, kind of review. And get yo ass outta the gutta. North America Food Manufacturing company might just be the only source in town for bamboo pole kneaded Cantonese style "egg" noodles, as first witnessed and shown to the commercial world via Anthony Bourdain's No Reservations: Hong Kong episode. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yJFdRJ06fz4 (about 2:30 in) O /|\ ============================ / \ ---------------------- | | | | | | | | | | | | They say the master noodle chef's name is Mr. Chin (doh...Toishanese and not Canto?!) This guy makes and kneads the noodles, and NA foods sells (or supplies) the noodles to King Won Ton for the restaurant's noodle offerings. You can buy these noodles at your local Chinese supermarket, although I'm willing to bet they are a lot easier to find in San Francisco A$N supers than in the Peninsula or South Bay. The problem is, the noodles look like a bandage brown and not a golden brown yellow tone. Now a good duck egg yolk can help produce this nice texture. These "egg" noodles seem to be lacking in exactly that.... eggs. :-( I've had way better egg noodles at places like Vung Tau (Vietnamese restaurant) where those style of egg noodles, while not Cantonese or near it, are a lot richer and deeper. Perhaps in SF, Hoi Ky Mi Gai (or however it is spelt) has better egg noodles than your average Won Ton noodle joint. Three stars, because at least Mr Chin dares to try something like this that would damage his nuts (unless he has kids already), even if the results are much less than sextacular. As the Brits would say to someone who didn't score a soccer goal "GOOD EFFORT!" And with that, the Won Ton Noodle Panda from Jamaica also has to say to someone who puts his nuts on the line every day.... Note that if you want to buy sausage direct from manufacturer but want smaller sizes, try Schwarz/Home/Engelhart Sausage on Misson St instead.
