We had a bowl of smoked fish chowder with bread. Service was friendly and courteous. The chowder had an interesting flavor that separated it from other chowders. There is limited seating in the restaurant. However, there are other tables in the Ferry Building where you can sit and eat.

Fish and chips--fries were great, fish a bit oily, aioli meh.

I've been wanting to check out Nopa Fish for a while and finally got a chance to over the weekend. We came around 1 pm on a Sunday and it was pretty crowded but we were able to grab some seats. The kitchen is pretty efficient, we got all our food in about 10 minutes and the staff is attentive in clearing plates from prior customers/wiping down tables which was appreciated. At the counter it was definitely hard to hear the cashier over the surrounding noise which made placing the order a little tricky, but nothing too crazy. We got the Asparagus Louie salad, fish and chips and the rocky sandwich. Asparagus Louie salad--definitely not worth it. Just a bunch of iceberg lettuce drenched in dressing and a few sticks of asparagus. The dressing was tasty, but definitely way too much to the point where it felt like we were eating globs of it rather than an actual salad. For that price, not worth it at all in my opinion. Fish and chips--decent. Fish was very delicate but also very oily and slightly on the darker side of fry. Fries were awesome, and the pickled veggies were a nice touch but the aioli tasted like nothing. Rocky Fish sandwich-- the highlight for me. I personally LOVE fresh herbs and this felt like a cool twist on a fish banh mi. Tons of fresh mint and slaw to brighten up the fish. Overall, I'd get the fish sandwich again but it is pretty expensive for what you get. I understand the real estate is prime and can appreciate costs needed to survive in the Ferry Building, but do think some items were more worth it than others.

My new favorite spot in the ferry building! Easy to order/great selection on the menu. It can be tricky to find a place to sit, but folks get in and out pretty quickly. The food is fantastic! The fish and chips had the right amount of batter and were fried to perfection. The chowder is one of the best I've had and the mussels were so fresh and delish! I love a good tuna melt and this was great. Not too much mayo and plenty of cheesy goodness. Everything was fantastic. Would definitely come back!

first time visiting Nopa fish over a gorgeous weekend in the city. My girlfriend and I walked up and down the ferry building food hall to see what would be a good choice to enjoy lunch. The ambience is a food hall inside of the San Francisco ferry building Definitely a lot of good choices when it comes to the selection of food, will definitely have to try a plate the next time. The service was good for a first timer

I wanted this to be a 5/5 - not even close. Fish: GREASY batter that completely forgot what "crispy" means. I was fighting the oil the whole time. I did not get any aioli with my order. Fries: thick cut and limpy. I'm including a photo of a starchy, pale looking interior. I finished the fries but would not agree to order them ever again. They were mushy like they either didn't get high heat they needed or set in lower temperature long enough to absorb a lot of oil. Arnold Palmer: ice tea heavy and way too sweet- no balance whatsoever. Not a fan.

Love this place. All the dishes were so fresh. We had the poke bowl and salmon fish of the day with snap peas

I've walked past Nopa Fish more times than I can count, and I genuinely can't believe it took me this long to stop in. Consider this my formal apology to myself. I stopped by around 4pm on a weekday for a to-go order and there was no wait to order, and my food was ready in about 10 minutes. Seamless. Bay Shrimp & Egg Salad Sandwich: They did not hold back on the protein. The shrimp and egg salad was generously piled on, but the real standout for me was the milk bread. Perfectly soft, slightly sweet, and it brought the whole thing together beautifully. One bite and I was completely hooked! That's not an exaggeration. Fish & Chips: Wow. The fish is beer-battered and fried to a perfect crisp, and you get three generous fillets. The fries hit that ideal balance of crispy on the outside and soft in the middle, which is honestly harder to pull off than it sounds. Nailed it. Everything came together quickly, tasted incredible, and left me wondering why this wasn't already a regular spot for me. If you've been walking past Nopa Fish like I was, you need to stop walking and go in. You won't regret it.

The place is inside the ferry building which is perfect for me took ferry from Vallejo. Love the bar style seating but I do wish they have more tables available because this lace was busy around 2pm. I ordered fish and chips. Food came out quick and hot. The outside breading of fried fish is crispy and fish inside is moist. I love how fresh the fish is. French fried is ok. I love the pickled vegetables. The sauce came with fish and chips has good flavors but tiny bit bland. The price is on higher side but it's good amount of food. Overall, friendly staff, fresh food to dine in or to go, Convenient location.

Wonderful fish selection and quality. Personable service. Not much seating and it's communal tables that get busy during the weekday lunch rush--good thing you could take your food to-go and eat elsewhere around the Ferry Building, like on outside benches with a view of the water! My old VP enjoys the Rocky sandwich ($21). I enjoyed my pristine fish over rice ($28), which is pretty much a chirashi bowl. I like that they gave me avocado, but it felt like the bowl was predominately rice. Will be back for sure!

Date: 2/13/2026 Time: 3:45 PM 55° Cool Weather is cool. My male companion and I boarded the San Francisco Ferry from Alameda to San Francisco. Since the weather was cool and a bit chilly, we were in the Ferry Building searching for a restaurant that serves clam chowder soup. We stopped at Hog Island. The line was out the door. We continued searching and came upon Nopa Fish. They were not busy and it was the perfect place for a bowl of clam chowder soup and bread. Ahh...warm comfort food on a cool day. Service was quick and the employees were attentive to us and other diners. I left my blue bag. One of the employees followed us out of the restaurant and handed me the bag. I was grateful that he went above and beyond the call of his duty. The minor drawback is my male companion does not like mushrooms which is in the chowder. He picks out all the mushrooms and gives them to me. I love mushrooms. They are nutritious and beneficial for my health. Return visit? Yes, future visit is a must. I didn't have a chance to read the menu as to what else is served at this restaurant.

i really wanted to love nopa fish - the branding, whole ambiance, and plating of all the dishes was so perfect! however, i think most things my group ordered were just not worth it. i personally got the egg salad toast with shrimp. it was much larger than i expected which was great, but also very dense and i felt heavy after eating it. there also wasn't that much shrimp inside. the fries (unpictured) were fine, not too much oil and quite crispy. the fish chowder had promise but could be more flavorful in my opinion. and, the prices are just a bit above what i'd expect to pay, so i hoped the food would be a bit better. note that there are limited areas to sit if you're dining at the ferry building and also there are flies around the area. during a typical lunch rush there will be people waiting to sit.

    Rockfish sandwich
    Evan Z.

I really enjoyed the rockfish sandwich, the rockfish was nicely fried and tasted fresh, the vegetables and sauces mixed well together to create a balanced and savory taste, and the bun was fluffy and nicely toasted. The house smoked trout latke was above average, the bread at the bottom was a bit overcooked but the trout was fresh and the beet hummus was a nice addition in flavor. It is $8 though which is quite expensive; I'd probably skip on it next time and just get the sandwich which I think is reasonably priced at $21. We went around lunch on a Sunday and we just sat on a shared table in front of each other. There was no line and the food came out relatively fast. 4.6/5

Went here for a casual lunch with a friend. We ate there. Ordered Bay shrimp and egg sandwich and fish (local rockfish) & chips (French fries isn't that good. It's not crispy and feels soggy - pass on that. The have a wide selection of fresh seafood that are posted on their menu. You order at the cashier and they have utensils and napkins at the table. They give you a number and bring you the food. For a casual lunch in a sunny day, great place to visit the Ferry building and enjoy seafood. Service was pleasant.

Been here a couple of times already and the service never failed. Even came here during the Cherry Blossom Festival and the staff were still friendly / accommodating. They even put a spicy sauce on the side of one of the katsu plates when we mentioned that my dad couldn't handle all that haha. This cozy spot mainly focuses on katsu plates, but I like how they had off menu or specials to choose from if you'd like another option. I will say though them katsu plates were just chef's kiss. The meat is pounded thin enough where it's still juicy and tender, but doesn't affect the exterior from being crunchy and a bit flaky. Nothing was dry here yallll! I also like how it already comes with miso soup and salad. Huge fan of that Hamachi Truffle special though. Think of a citrusy flavor from the ponzu, fresh fish, a bit of micro greens, and a thin slice of jalapeño that just ~works~ on a cute wooden spoon that you want to steal I could honestly eat like 5 spoons of this. I'd skip on the calamari as it was kind of skimpy to share with a large group. Only note was that their fried katsu curry was a bit underwhelming with having more slices of carrots than potato! Would love to come back if I am ever in the area.

They had a cute neon light with their name. We got a couple appetizers, which included the pan fried dumplings and tteokbokki. I ordered the Spicy Japchae for my main dish. They brought the banchan out pretty quickly, which we all devoured in seconds because we were so hungry. Then our main dishes started coming out of the kitchen. My spicy japchae was just the right amount of heat. Spicy enough to still be enjoyable. While eating our main dishes the pan fried dumplings came out, which was odd since we ordered it as an appetizer. And the tteokbokki we had ordered, never was added to our order by our waiter. After being told that by another waiter, we just decided to cancel it. The meal was pretty filling without feeling too heavy. Overall, it was decent.
