My new favorite spot in the ferry building! Easy to order/great selection on the menu. It can be tricky to find a place to sit, but folks get in and out pretty quickly. The food is fantastic! The fish and chips had the right amount of batter and were fried to perfection. The chowder is one of the best I've had and the mussels were so fresh and delish! I love a good tuna melt and this was great. Not too much mayo and plenty of cheesy goodness. Everything was fantastic. Would definitely come back!

first time visiting Nopa fish over a gorgeous weekend in the city. My girlfriend and I walked up and down the ferry building food hall to see what would be a good choice to enjoy lunch. The ambience is a food hall inside of the San Francisco ferry building Definitely a lot of good choices when it comes to the selection of food, will definitely have to try a plate the next time. The service was good for a first timer

    Limpy starchy fries

I wanted this to be a 5/5 - not even close. Fish: GREASY batter that completely forgot what "crispy" means. I was fighting the oil the whole time. I did not get any aioli with my order. Fries: thick cut and limpy. I'm including a photo of a starchy, pale looking interior. I finished the fries but would not agree to order them ever again. They were mushy like they either didn't get high heat they needed or set in lower temperature long enough to absorb a lot of oil. Arnold Palmer: ice tea heavy and way too sweet- no balance whatsoever. Not a fan.

I've walked past Nopa Fish more times than I can count, and I genuinely can't believe it took me this long to stop in. Consider this my formal apology to myself. I stopped by around 4pm on a weekday for a to-go order and there was no wait to order, and my food was ready in about 10 minutes. Seamless. Bay Shrimp & Egg Salad Sandwich: They did not hold back on the protein. The shrimp and egg salad was generously piled on, but the real standout for me was the milk bread. Perfectly soft, slightly sweet, and it brought the whole thing together beautifully. One bite and I was completely hooked! That's not an exaggeration. Fish & Chips: Wow. The fish is beer-battered and fried to a perfect crisp, and you get three generous fillets. The fries hit that ideal balance of crispy on the outside and soft in the middle, which is honestly harder to pull off than it sounds. Nailed it. Everything came together quickly, tasted incredible, and left me wondering why this wasn't already a regular spot for me. If you've been walking past Nopa Fish like I was, you need to stop walking and go in. You won't regret it.

Been wanting to try Nopa Fish for awhile, as I make my way to try the many delicious eateries inside the Ferry Building. To save some time, I placed an order online for pick up in advance. Ordered a fresh squeezed lemonade and the fish & chips. When I picked up my lemonade was not with my order, I bought it up and they poured me a cup immediately. Enjoyed some lunch outdoors in the lovely sun! Delicious fish and chips, a little heavy on the salt, pickled veggies on the side good as well. Overall, a good place to stop in for some lunch!

The place is inside the ferry building which is perfect for me took ferry from Vallejo. Love the bar style seating but I do wish they have more tables available because this lace was busy around 2pm. I ordered fish and chips. Food came out quick and hot. The outside breading of fried fish is crispy and fish inside is moist. I love how fresh the fish is. French fried is ok. I love the pickled vegetables. The sauce came with fish and chips has good flavors but tiny bit bland. The price is on higher side but it's good amount of food. Overall, friendly staff, fresh food to dine in or to go, Convenient location.

Wonderful fish selection and quality. Personable service. Not much seating and it's communal tables that get busy during the weekday lunch rush--good thing you could take your food to-go and eat elsewhere around the Ferry Building, like on outside benches with a view of the water! My old VP enjoys the Rocky sandwich ($21). I enjoyed my pristine fish over rice ($28), which is pretty much a chirashi bowl. I like that they gave me avocado, but it felt like the bowl was predominately rice. Will be back for sure!

Date: 2/13/2026 Time: 3:45 PM 55° Cool Weather is cool. My male companion and I boarded the San Francisco Ferry from Alameda to San Francisco. Since the weather was cool and a bit chilly, we were in the Ferry Building searching for a restaurant that serves clam chowder soup. We stopped at Hog Island. The line was out the door. We continued searching and came upon Nopa Fish. They were not busy and it was the perfect place for a bowl of clam chowder soup and bread. Ahh...warm comfort food on a cool day. Service was quick and the employees were attentive to us and other diners. I left my blue bag. One of the employees followed us out of the restaurant and handed me the bag. I was grateful that he went above and beyond the call of his duty. The minor drawback is my male companion does not like mushrooms which is in the chowder. He picks out all the mushrooms and gives them to me. I love mushrooms. They are nutritious and beneficial for my health. Return visit? Yes, future visit is a must. I didn't have a chance to read the menu as to what else is served at this restaurant.

    Rockfish sandwich
    Evan Z.

I really enjoyed the rockfish sandwich, the rockfish was nicely fried and tasted fresh, the vegetables and sauces mixed well together to create a balanced and savory taste, and the bun was fluffy and nicely toasted. The house smoked trout latke was above average, the bread at the bottom was a bit overcooked but the trout was fresh and the beet hummus was a nice addition in flavor. It is $8 though which is quite expensive; I'd probably skip on it next time and just get the sandwich which I think is reasonably priced at $21. We went around lunch on a Sunday and we just sat on a shared table in front of each other. There was no line and the food came out relatively fast. 4.6/5

    Fish & chips with fries

Went here for a casual lunch with a friend. We ate there. Ordered Bay shrimp and egg sandwich and fish (local rockfish) & chips (French fries isn't that good. It's not crispy and feels soggy - pass on that. The have a wide selection of fresh seafood that are posted on their menu. You order at the cashier and they have utensils and napkins at the table. They give you a number and bring you the food. For a casual lunch in a sunny day, great place to visit the Ferry building and enjoy seafood. Service was pleasant.

Pristine fish over sushi rice (kids removed the poached egg but it was cooked perfectly)

A little pricey but quality of fish and service made up for it. Got two poke bowls (called pristine fish over sushi rice) and an asparagus Louie salad with the $20 add-on Dungeness crab. Poke bowls had 3 kinds of fish and the Louie salad had these crispy bites of toasted quinoa that were delish. Place was busy but servers cleaned tabletops as soon as they were available and kept things moving. I'd come back to try the mussels, bay shrimp and egg salad sando and the smoked trout latke.

The Rocky - on a milk bread bun

Surprised to find this place at the SF Ferry Building, but happy to see the fish market with a nice little menu. There were some counter seats, but took my order to go to eat within the building. Excellent staff who cared about your experience. Including how long you were waiting for your food. I ordered the Rocky (fish sandwich) and fries. Would definitely get the fish again. Everything about it was perfect. I would skip the fries though. Just not to my liking, though I think other people would like them. Prices are a bit expensive. My order of the above was $33 with tax + tip. So, not a place I can come to often. However, I will come again to try tge other menu items.

    The Rocky
    David K.

Nopa Fish in the Ferry Building is a bustling, casual eatery turning out creative dishes featuring local seafood. From their sandwich selection, the Rocky was made with fried local rockfish and a creamy slaw of daikon/carrot/ginger, along with mint, cilantro, and jalapeño on an oblong milk bread bun. The sandwich tasted decent, but the slaw had so much creamy dressing that it turned the soft bread into a soggy mess and overpowered the flavor of the fish. The Pristine Fish over Sushi Rice featured raw tuna and hamachi, served along with greens, ginger, avocado, and a poached egg over organic sushi rice, but the portion didn't seem worth the price.

Hands down best fish and chips I've ever had! Their mushroom chowder is 10/10. Highly recommend whenever you're in the city.
