We came here for a birthday dinner. I definitely would recommend uber. It looks difficult to drive and park on a weeknight during rush hour. The restaurant has a pretty view of the Bay Bridge. It definitely has a cute nautical vibe. Service was friendly and attentive. Our waitress gave great suggestions. Food was top tier. We did all seafood dishes with bread and salad. The uni toast was my favorite, along with the sea bream. The needle fish was unique and subtle in taste. Highly recommend for a try!

We came here for my birthday, when we arrived they handed me a hand signed card by the staff which was a really nice touch and welcoming. It was an interesting service concept as we had like 3/4 different servers all helping us at the same time but they were extremely attentive, friendly, offered great suggestions. We started by ordering bubbles and a round of drinks. I got the coffee Negroni (AMAZING), I will never order an espresso martini again. My boyfriend got the duck fat old fashioned which also amazing, perfectly balanced. We started with the staple blue fin tuna, an absolute must! Presentation was great, and it tasted even better. We also got a side of the Parker rolls which were buttery perfection. Also ordered the radicchio salad which sound odd but is another absolute must! For dinner we got the mushrooms, shrimp and the sea bream. As you can see from the photo, the mushrooms were such a small portion and super overpriced. I personally do not order shrimp if it is not completely cleaned and when we asked they said it was and that they only left the head on which is bit true. I had to peel them which was super frustrating and hard for me because I never do it, i regret not sending that back. The sea bream was the absolute best thing we had, I inhaled it so fast, it was like fluffy pillows. One of the best fish I have ever had. By the end we were so full I had no room for desert but I saw they had mini versions of their deserts so we went with the caramel sundae and am so glad we did! It was the perfect size and sweetness to end the dinner. Overall great experience but definitely pricey. Bill came out to $400 for the two of us but makes sense for the Michelin star caliber food and service. Oh and they mentioned they have happy hour M-F 5-6.30pm so we will definitely be going back for that!

Before addressing the food, I have to address the parking situation -- I don't often go to the city so I had forgotten just how difficult it is to find parking near Embarcadero. we couldn't find street parking and eventually had to settle on $25 parking at United SF Parking on Main Street. we had a 12pm lunch reservation and was 40 minutes late struggling for parking but the staff was very gracious about it and still seated us however, the one perk to being located near the water is the great view -- I can definitely see why this is a prime spot for date night because the ambiance was very romantic in regards to the food, my boyfriend and I both ordered off the Quick Catch Menu (I believe it's only available around lunch). the menu consists of their pacific oysters, a main entree that you choose between sea bream or chicken, and dessert which is either soft serve or sorbet. the cost for all 3 is $55. we also ordered the popular parker house rolls on the side -- pacific oysters: I agree with the other reviews when they said Angler is known for their seafood. I've never had oysters that tasted this fresh before. these are easily the best oysters I've ever had -- sea bream: this is what my boyfriend ordered and he absolutely loved it. I tried a piece and the cook on the fish was perfect. the outside was crispy but the inside was still tender -- chicken: I ordered the half chicken and it was also cooked to perfection. the skin was perfectly crispy as well but the inside was still moist. the only feedback I have to give is on the sauce. it was a BBQ sauce but the sauce tasted much more of mustard for me -- side note on the sea bream and chicken: both came with an amazing side salad. the leaves were buttery and crisp, and the lemon dressing was refreshing and light -- parker house rolls: I actually wish I skipped it on these and got the scallops instead. it's an easy appetizer but it didn't stand out to me -- soft serve: this is the dessert everyone knows Angler for. my boyfriend loved it but I found it a touch too salty for my taste but I understand it comes down to personal preference. I think next time I personally will go for the sorbet keep in mind for the bill, there's an automatic 20% gratuity and an additional 6% for the SF Mandate Fee. this brought our bill to $170 for 2 people overall, I do understand why this place is popular -- their seafood is incredible and their protein is cooked to perfection so I'm glad I got to try it :)

What an amazing meal! The staff treated us warmly, taking our jackets and backpacks as we sat down. We started off the night with some cocktails, I got an espresso martini inspired drink but it was a little more spunky. It was strong and didn't have that signature velvet coffee creamer taste but still delicious. We were recommended the grilled oysters and they were a HIT. Buttery rich and fresh, the sauce made for a most delectable bite. The oysters themselves were large and juicy while the sauce made for a well rounded bite. Dipping the rolls into the sauce was also delicious. Most of what we ordered was beyond expectation but some of the standouts were the the dungenous crab with garlic rice and the spiny lobster. The crab was so meaty while the rice was succulent and full of flavor making for a great pairing. The lobster was also cooked to perfection, despite the larger size the meat was still so tender not gummy at all! The lobster sauce was also divine and unlike anything I've had before! The tuna tartar was also quite the treat! The rice cracker was so fun to break apart and the tuna was fresh and contrasted nicely with the jelly! Yum I would love to come back, in the meantime I'll be dreaming about this meal :)

Bread and butter were tasty but it's hard for me to hate any bread n butter

The menu read deliciously to me but, unfortunately, nothing stood out. Rather, something was slightly off putting with every dish, aside from the bread and butter lol. Service was wonderful though. Five stars for sure: informative, attentive, charming without overstaying. I'll also note that the food all looked very beautiful. Incredible feast for the eyes. Some dishes we got: Aged black cod: crispy skin, texture was perfect. Dish was too salty for me. Half duck: beautiful. Dry. Wild mushrooms: sauce didn't made it too moist and didn't seem to complement the mushrooms. Also too salty. Lettuce and herbs: salad dressing was very watery so it was pretty splashy to eat. Very strong fish/umami flavor that reminded me of fish sauce. The bit of heat was nice tho. The most off putting part of this experience was lack of price transparency. I realize there are other restaurants that do this too but doesn't make it suck any less. "Service charges" and "sf mandate" added 20% and 6% accordingly. I wasn't necessarily looking for small print fees but I didn't exactly expect to pay 20% tip, 20% service charge and a 6% fee on top of the prices listed... 46% non-food costs seems nuts. Made the entire experience so off putting but I'm not going to skip out on tipping cause who knows if any of the workers get a cut of that "service charge."

Seafood focused resturant right by the Embarcadero. Overall, I'd rate it a 4.5/5. Service was exceptional -- always checking on cocktail refills, water, and clearing the table. Food highlight for me were: 1. Prawns 2. Potato's with cheese fondue 2.Oysters 3. Caviar service (unique and different) 4. Mushrooms 5. Scallops Some of their dishes were a little too salty for my liking -- for example the sea urchin toast and the milk bread. You HAVE to finish off with their signature sundae. What a treat to end the meal.

This Michelin star restaurant has a nice view of Bay Bridge right on the shoreline. Service is really good. I came here for a work dinner so we got the set menu and a couple of bottles of wine. Everything was delicious, including the aged medium rare steak, the salmon with the crispy skin, the red cabbage salad, the tune tartare, and best of all the mushrooms with spicy tangy sauce. My coworkers picked some very good bottles of red wine so that was also very good. We ended it with ice cream with almond caramel sauce on top...very tasty. My boss paid for the dinner so not sure on the prices? Very good restaurant with excellent food!

Angler has received a Michelin guide star for 3 years in a row so I was extremely excited to try this spot with my partner! Overall, the experience was bad but also don't know if we would be back again. We both did a prefix meal which came with: Oysters Herb salad Choice of seabream fish or half oven roasted chicken Choice of sundae or sorbet This prefix meal was $55 per person. We also added a lobster bun with fries for $35 because we were curious why others were ordering this. Everything was tasty but the seasoning was too basic for my taste for it to want me to comeback and eat it again. The oysters were our favorite appetizer in the pre fix menu as it was so fresh. The oven roasted chicken was juicy but it lacked seasoning and the sauce that was paired for dipping was very strong of mustard that it made it very tarty. The sea bream fish that was paired with a lemongrass curry sauce was delicious. I've never had this type of fish and it was very smooth with a crispy skin. Seasoning was just lightly salted but overall tasty. We ordered the sundae and the soft serve itself was delicious but the dark chocolate bits with the salted caramel all overpowered one another so I didn't enjoy this as much and gave it to my bf. The lobster bun was surprisingly Smokey which made the entree delicious. We both also said we preferred a less saucey lobster roll as we are a simple butter lobster people. Be aware that they do charge a 20% gratuity and a $6 SF mandate fee so bill will be higher than expected. There's no direct parking in front of the restaurant but there are limited public meter parking a block down the road.

I went here with my husband and mil who are vegetarians and I alone can't finish a chicken dish usually. So ended up ordering all vegetarian dishes. Parkerhouse rolls and bread was good. My 1 year old daughter enjoyed the bread too. Sauce with hen of woods mushroom was yum too. Broccolini dish was tasty too felt a bit salty for my taste. Overall portions are small for vegetarian dishes as they are less priced and kinda like side dishes Ordered the coconut sorbet which was good. Also had the coffee vodka White Russian cocktail which was pretty good. I was drinking after a really long time. Felt a bit buzzed as well We went on a rainy day so couldn't enjoy the view as much.

Delicious, and incredible value for the price! Came in on a Saturday with group of 2 walk-in no res at approx noon, seated immediately at table. Things are chill at this time, definitely filled up within the hour. Service was great, our waiter Jay did an awesome job going over menu specials and checking in to make sure the meal went smoothly. We got the Quick Catch lunch prix fixe plus a few more items (bread, frog legs, and mushrooms). At 50pp the prix fixe is an incredible steal, the sea bream alone could probably have gone for that price given Bay Area standards. For the 2 of us the meal was the perfect amount, we could probably have gone without the mushroom for portioning (but it was delicious nonetheless and we were happy to have gotten it) Decor is homey and classy, bathrooms are very clean. I like the cute octopus TP holders Music playlist is great, I liked the upbeat tunes and classics. Puts out a great vibe Food was delicious! Standout was definitely the seabream with coconut and swarnadwipa, good creamy to spice ratio. The fish came out perfectly crisp and went great with the acid from the salad dressing Great spot for a date! Lots of families here today too, seems pretty kid friendly. Pro tip: if it's cold out PLEASE use the revolving door!!! Thanks in advance from us aisle tablers it really makes a difference

Came here for lunch on a Friday and there was already a line before opening. Very nice ambiance inside, attentive service. We ordered - - Burger and fries (4/5): burger patty is well done, didn't ask how well we wanted it cooked, would prefer medium or medium rare. Good quality, good seasoned fries - Set lunch with oysters, half chicken, and dessert (4.5/5): half chicken was $40, for $10 more you get a set menu that included 2 oysters and dessert. Oysters were fantastic, very fresh. Chicken was delicious too, moist and has thin crispy skin, salad was well dressed. When it came to dessert our waiter told us he had already picked the sundae for us (vs asking us for our selection since there were two options). A bit odd, but it was fine, caramel on the sweeter side. Overall, great quality food and service. Food came out on the slower end, and price is definitely on the higher side, including the mandatory 20% service fee.

Lunch here just keeps working for me. Second time doing the Quick Catch menu, and it's still the kind of meal that reminds you how rare it is to find fish cooked this well. The half sea bream hit all the marks--skin crackly, meat juicy, with a clean smoky grill flavor...exceptionally well done! The salad stayed bright and simple. Salted caramel soft serve at the end sealed the deal in that "I didn't need this but I'm glad I did" way. We split the Parker House rolls too--warm, soft, a little chewy, and the nori butter is still one of the better decisions you can make at lunch. Good stuff, start to finish!

"Cook For You" - extremely good value for what you get. Came here as a solo diner and the staff were attentive, and chef really presented bold flavors. Let's start with the food: 1. Norwegian Trout, Shinko Pear and Shiso (8/10) - refreshing app to kick off the meal 2. Cold smoked salt & pepper squab (9/10) - did not expect this to be the 2nd course! I've never had smoked squab before and I really liked it! Had a chewier texture, tasted more like smoked duck/ham, with a slightly sweet glaze. Not gamey at all. Ground pepper and lime served on the side 3. Lettuces & Herbs with Meyer Lemon (10/10) - arguably one of the best salads I've ever had. At first, I thought that this salad looked a bit too simple to be its own course. Chef used a diverse selection of lettuces and herbs (including watercress, which added depth of flavor). The dressing had quite a kick from the jalapeños and black pepper. It might have also included some bonito per our server. The bigger leaves like little gem lettuce were at the bottom. Interesting that they served the salad in the middle. Very bold flavors. 4. Grilled hand dived scallop (8/10) - sweet, perfectly seared. Buttery lemon sauce that accentuated the fresh scallop. 5. Slowly grilled hen of the woods mushroom (7.5/10) - this was a unique one, the mushrooms were crispy on top and tasted almost like crispy pork skin. Served with a hot sauce base. 6. Aged black cod, pickled shimeji & embedded fumet (8/10) - cod was perfectly seared and topped with fried sea lettuce. The pickled shimeji served its purpose of cutting the fattiness of the cod. Fish was so tender and "creamy" that it tasted exactly like texture of a grilled oyster 7. Angler potato with sauce of taleggio (7.5/10) - portion was way too much for me. You're supposed to peel away each layer and dip into the sauce, just like a potato chip. Each layer was so crispy! 8. Soft serve with caramel and cocoa nibs (9/10) - sooo good Nonalcoholic Drinks: - East Embarcadero (7.5/10) - the best way I would describe it is a sweet pickle juice. Very refreshing. - Lavender Cream (7.5/10) - this is more of a richer, dessert drink and I would've liked it more if I got it before I started getting full! Ambiance - Medium noise level, playing 60s-70s pop rock - For a Michelin one star restaurant, I felt like this restaurant atmosphere is more modern and more welcoming. Not your typical old school fancy restaurant - The open kitchen and fire grill was another wow factor

We started with a cocktail and a glass of red wine. For our appetizer we had the Pulpo, coliflor and Hueso Asado. The pulpo which is octopus was nice and tender. Really delicious. The coliflor was okay. It was a little dense for me. The Hueso Asado was scrumptious, buttery and full of flavor, but half of a bone marrow was too small for an appetizer and only served with 4 small thin crostini. For entree we had the Ojo de Bife and Malbec short ribs. The Ojo de Bife which is the rib eye was delicious and grilled perfectly. The meat was not as tender, but the meat itself had a lot of flavor. The short ribs were excellent! Very tender and scrumptious. I would order this again. They should bring back the beef tongue or Lengua. I heard it is a must try. Anyway, we had a great time. I absolutely enjoyed every aspect of what they have to offer at the HR. We shared grilled shrimp and buratta. Shrimp was surprisingly good, plum, and flavorful. I had branzino for main and it was cooked to perfection and flavor was on point. Finished the meal with matcha latte. It was not over sweet and It's served in a huge cappuccino cup. I really enjoyed it. Overall it is overpriced for what it is but you go there for the experience. Highly recommended if you're into a high end luxurious vibe.

It is an experience. I booked a table for 4 for my wife's 18th birthday (just kidding). Please see my photo gallery for comments on the dishes. Details available and I rank the dishes. Smashed avocado and balsamic vinegar (not captured in photos) was exceptional. The avocado was a fulfillment of life's promise in the morning. The service was friendly and helpful. Ambiance is elegant. Filled with natural light. The seating is spacious and comfortable. Deceptive photo is available. Coffee was horrible unfortunately. We ordered cappuccinos specifically. The espresso was weak inside a cup of warm milk. We were disappointed to start our brunch with failed espresso drinks. The space, service, food more than made up for it.

Let's start with the practical stuff: getting a reservation is notoriously difficult. Your best bet is to go as a party of four or more. Smaller groups should head straight to the bar -- first come, first served, but expect about a 45-minute wait. Worth every minute. The food is the star here, full stop. There is something about the prime rib at this place that stays with you long after the meal. Nothing really compares. The tableside presentation where you choose your cut is a nice touch that adds to the whole experience. Come hungry! The portions are massive. I'll be honest: this is a food-first, ambience-second kind of place. It's busy and lively, so I wouldn't call it an intimate date night spot. Think of it more as an "I want the best prime rib in the city" night. If that's what your expectations are, it delivers completely. SF is lucky to have an institution like this. If you're visiting the city, put this on your list. Make sure to start planning your reservation months ahead.

I miss the good ol days when Tad's was in the last spot on Powell Street and it was so old fashioned and I had lovely memories there with my parents. It actually works well if you're looking for a quicker meal without the long wait of a full-service restaurant. I ordered the steak medium well, and they cooked it correctly with a nice sear and good flavor. It was seasoned a bit heavier on the salt and pepper than I personally prefer, but it still had a good taste overall. The meal came with a fresh side salad, loaded baked potato, and Texas toast, making it a filling plate and a solid value for San Francisco. I also tried the chili, which was surprisingly good--hearty, flavorful, and definitely worth adding to the meal. The food looked fresh and came out in a reasonable amount of time. Overall, Tad's Steakhouse is a good option if you want a satisfying steak meal in a casual, no-frills environment. While it may not have the atmosphere of a traditional steakhouse, the food quality and convenience make it worth checking out. I'd definitely return.
