How have you let us down? Let me count the ways...
Nook used to be our "go to spot" for lunch. Their numerous options paved the way for the tastes of many to be satisfied. Our office loved to plan our "Nook Days," and waited eagerly for the day to arrive. But something happened, a shift. We are uncertain if the shift spawned from that which shall remain nameless (i.e. COVID) or something else all together, but nonetheless, it happened. Portion sizes receded, taste dissipated, satisfaction waned. It all started when one coworker of ours ordered the Avocado Toast. Now, I know you're wondering, how does one mess up avocado toast? It's avocado on toast!! Well my friend, there is a bit more to it than that and unfortunately for our coworker, Nook followed the absolute basic definition. Her $10 order of avocado toast consisted of literally two slices of what looked like wonder bread, lightly toasted with a smear, of unseasoned avocado on each slice. The menu promises an egg, tomatoes, garlic, greens and balsamic drizzle. The actual outcome was much less enticing. A few months later, our hearts were broken again... My coworker was on the hunt for a grilled cheese. Not just any grilled cheese mind you, but something gourmet and fabulous. Given our forgiving nature, we suggested giving Nook a try. Currently, you will not find the grilled cheese on their online menu, however, it had been on the original menu and the restaurant had agreed to make it. Maybe we should have detoured at this point but we thought, "Hey, what could go wrong?" A LOT!!! A lot could go wrong! The sandwich she received was reminiscent of my "dorm- living" days when we didn't have access to a stove, so we toasted bread and stuck a slice of cheese in the middle, squeezed and hoped the cheese would melt. The bread was excessively toasted and lacked the butteriness that usually accompanied a GRILLED cheese. The cheese was unmelted, and so on and so forth. You can imagine the rest. The final major incident occurred this past week. Another coworker ordered the Hanger Steak and Eggs. Once the box was opened, all we could do was drop our jaws and shake our heads in disappointment. Nook did it again! The steak was easily a whole 3.5 oz. and he received a whole 1/4 cup of potatoes scattered under what we could only hope was at least 2 eggs. He paid $14, for what you see above. $14!!! (I will give you time to recover from the shock)
Having only cited 3 incidents, please know, there were many more in between. My fellow yelpers, speaking on behalf of myself and my office mates, Nook has officially been removed from our "go to spot" list. read more
