Same great reviews really. We got window seating, which is like sitting on stools next to each other, but at least it reduced the wait time. One thing to remember is they are a cash only place. It's a bit inconvenient, but it's worth it. The food was still great. The spring rolls and sweet potato triangles were good. Basically the triangles are little samosas stuffed with sweet potato instead of regular potatoes. You get like 5 cocktail samosas. The spring roll was ok and it comes with 2 pieces. We should've asked for some hot sauce while having the appetizers as that would've helped. For the main, we had the Chiang Mai Noodles (I substituted the wheat noodles with rice noodles) and also the Kee Mao both with level 3 spice, which was perfect. The noodles were amazing again. Noodlehead is one of the gems of Shadyside that I always enjoy eating at. They have a perfectly sized menu that allows them to specialize and really put care into a manageable amount of dishes. My current favorite dish is the Chiang Mai Curry paired with a Thai Iced Tea. At a 3 spice level, the curry has the ideal heat, and the yellow coconut curry in the dish is deliciously creamy. They have also kept the prices very reasonable, but it's still cash only. There is an ATM in the building in case you forgot cash though. I can't wait to visit again and try some more dishes. read more

New year, new Noodlehead!! They launched a brand new, WAY bigger menu!! Like, double the size of the old menu-- more of everything, especially the curries. We did a starter of the sausage, which was tasty, but not compelling (just a dry sausage with some condiments).The standout at our table was the duck noodle soup-- sweet, brothy, a whole duck leg. Also went for the massaman curry with chicken-- which our server told us was similar to the one at their sister restaurant, Pussedees Garden. Beautiful, creamy and flavorful. We also enjoyed the kapow chicken (they were out of pork), though it would be nice to have a smidge more sauce on this dish. Appreciate the attentive and informative service and our server was interested in our reaction to the new items. This spot is a staple in the weekly line up of take outs in our household. They are always tasty and fast on the orders while staying very reasonable on price. I dont even mess with anything else on the menu if it isn't a Street noodle #1 (spicy level 3). Savory, Spicy and a bit sour, cant get any better than that. The chicken is always fantastic and crunchy even when ordering take out and even better eating in. My only minor gripes would be they almost never pick up the phone when I call :(. Im lucky if i even get through after spamming the phone line if its dinner time on a weekday. You can order online, but the wait time to get food is typically and hour or more after you place it and that requires planning ahead, which is a no no in my book. Its also cash only. read more

Yummy, affordable, cash only and tough to get a spot during peak times. But it's oh so worth it. My favorite dish is the Chiang Mai Curry with the fried chicken. It's a pretty large restaurant with a boho aesthetic so don't expect a quiet meal. Even though it's a wait, people order and eat quickly. Parking is kind of tough in Shadyside. The food here was amazing! It is cash only and can get pretty busy around lunch time. We got there at 12:30pm on a Saturday with a party of 3, and there was no wait and many tables. By the end of lunch though, there was a line and every table was packed. Beautifully decorated inside. Great service - they can give you red pepper flakes and sambal to make your dish spicier if its not spicy enough. Big water bottle on the table for you to refill. I got the chiang mai curry - there were egg noodles and crispy noodles, and the sauce was sweet from the coconut, thick, and very rich/creamy! My favorite was my partner's pad see ew - it reminded me of the dim sum dish (cheong fun, rice noodle rolls) because of the sweet soy sauce. Shrimp is no extra cost! The portions were large and we had leftovers to enjoy later. All in all, a must try if you're in Shadyside! It's popular for a reason. read more

I've been going to Noodlehead for almost a decade now...yes a decade. This place has ALWAYS been a Shadyside staple and arguably one of the best restaurants in the Pittsburgh area. What a way to kick off the New Year by falling from glory FAST. I'm not sure if this place has changed ownership and/or management going into 2025, but if so, it shows. They have a phone now, which is neither bad nor good. This could have been looked at as an inconvenience, but if I'm being honest, I kind of respected it haha. They take cards now and have expanded their menu by a decent bit. Guess what that leads to? You guessed it...price increase (credit card fees, processing fees, more ingredients to buy, etc.). And guess what a price increase also leads to? Lower quality of food...The curry isn't thick and creamy anymore, but thin and runny. Order extra noodles? You're pretty much just going to get the same amount as last year if you didn't order extra noodles at that time. Protein portions just keep getting less and less. The two good things that came out of their "change" is the new takeout door, so you don't have to stand in the main waiting area. AND the pork skewers. Those skews are phenomenal. One last item...IF IT AINT BROKE DONT FIX IT. Yinzers can tell and will remember. I hope this is all experimental because please don't take OG Noodlehead away from this city. Cheers! read more

All under $15 before tax I love eating outside (weather permitting) because it can get a bit rowdy in the restaurant. Amazing low-light ambience tho. My sister recommended this place so we got takeout last night and I did think it was pretty good! The pad Thai was excellent- we got ours with tempura shrimp, would highly recommend. We also got the love boat soup which was very good. The only dish I wasn't crazy about was the street noodle #1. Honestly somehow ours ended up tasting like rubbing alcohol, I honestly wonder if it was some type of kitchen accident. Lol. Saw the great reviews on yelp about this place and had to give it a try while in town for a weekend trip. And I was not disappointed! This place is clean, cute little place with tables properly spaced out apart. QR code to scan for the menu on your phone. The staff members wore masks at all times and were super nice. The only thing is the place is cash only so make sure you bring cash! Not the most authentic thai noodles but just so good. And all the noodles are only $10~! You order your noodles and your spice level from 0-5. I ordered the see yew with shrimp and zero spice. The sweet soy sauce was so flavorful I was blown away. I definitely could have split it into two meals towards the end I thought it was a bit too salty, but it was just so good. Shrimp was also perfectly cooked. My husband got the Chiang Mai Curry at 3/5 spice level. The coconut curry flavor of the broth was so good. The crispy and soft noodles perfectly balanced each other out The combination of flavors was incredible. We also ordered the pork belly steamed buns. The pork belly flavors were very flavorful, but the steamed bun I thought could have been softer. I find that the pork belly steamed buns here in Pittsburgh are much more expensive than the NYC tri-state area which was interesting. Didn't think that these two small little buns were worth $7. I went for lunch on a sunny Saturday by myself and found the space filled with laughing, joyous patrons enjoying the food, company and loud pop music, singing along at times. The staff was very accommodating and helped me pick what would be best for me. AND THEN we were seated just like ten minutes later (surprising cuz the place was full, and there were already at least two parties ahead of us). Waiter took our order within like 5-7 min of sitting down, and then the food came within ten minutes, I'd guess (three orders). So this place is efficient. Now, more importantly: the food. I have always loved Noodlehead. When you could get a table it was a good, quick meal. Since Covid they have an "emergency noodle hotline" which I love. We have picked up takeout multiple times now. One time they did mess up an order (didn't put tofu in place of the chicken as asked). Every other time the order has been perfect. Sometimes the online wait time is very long. If this is the case call (and call again) or stop in. The time is usually no more than 20 minutes. Everything is well packaged. They even put the crispy noodles separate to maintain the texture. My go to order is the Chiang MaI Curry with tofu at a level 3. It's spicy, creamy and delicious. I mean who doesn't love noodles. It can be messy to eat so be aware. We also tried the sweet potato triangles recently and they were quite tasty as well, especially with the dipping sauce. Be aware. It's cash only. Call to place an order to get a quicker pickup time. They also offer local delivery. They limit to one person inside at a time. It's been a smooth pickup process. read more

Cash only so be prepared for that and they let you bring your own bottle of wine which according to their website you do not have to pay to have uncorked, but there is a $0.75 cent per person recycling charge which is no big deal - imagine, you bring a $10 bottle with you instead of paying $20+ for the same bottle at another restaurant... It's not confusing how to provide adequate and comfortable seating. They clearly chose looks over use. While our server was great, overall service wasn't. The cash only situation has to go. At this point, choosing cash only is making a statement that customer experience comes last in your priorities as a business. Eating here was a low point.
