4 stars just because it's authentic and reasonable Chinese food in Bloomington. Hibachi? Sushi? I have no idea what that's about. Duck rice and pork belly on the menu = awesome. Try to find that at one of the other places in town. And they do a good job on their sauces: they're not goopy like some Chinese places and they don't seem to use MSG. Even their American Chinese is pretty good, and they have good, cheap lunch specials. The knock I would give to this place is that their servers are usually pretty clueless and have a hard time. If you speak Mandarin though, you can probably do a little bit better. You also never seem to have a dedicated server, just everyone coming up randomly, which usually leads to long periods of no service. But, still, it's a good place just for the food. read more

I used to not be much of a fan of this restaurant when it was in its former location, but since the move, they have incorporated a lot of new authentic Chinese options. They have progressed from being entirely Americanized Chinese when they opened years ago to being now mostly authentic Chinese. This level of evolution to the demand and changing demographic of this awesome city deserves praise. In particular, their variety of hot appetizers (especially variety of wontons and dumplings) are very good. Secondly, their spicy sour cabbage and Sichuan style chicken are on point. I believe that some of the lower reviews of this place are remnants of prior menus when they simply were not as good without menu diversity as well as sharing space with a hibachi restaurant "Asuka." Highly recommend coming and giving this place a try if you are from the area or are in town as I believe that it measures up to some of the other high quality authentic Chinese restaurants in the city. If this restaurant were to be in Indianapolis metro area, ironically believe it would be 4.5 stars-5 stars and second most authentic Chinese restaurant in the metro. However, being in Bloomington which has 3x the number of authentic Chinese restaurants than Indianapolis (and 10% of size by population (WTF!!!)) the competition is simply higher for this restaurant. So that is my rant, try this place out. read more

I think this is one of the best Chinese restaurants in town. After growing up in a Chinese restaurant, it takes a lot to impress me. The decor sucks, but don't think that it's dingy or dirty. For the most part, my experiences here have been clean and neat - just don't expect a Japonee type ambiance. I enjoy the Singapore chow mein, Beef Chow Fun, and the Shrimp Wonton soup with Cantonese chow mein noodles (curly yellow). Give it a try - the duck is fatty ( I don't recommend it) but it's worth the change from the ubiquitous chinese buffets of fried low quality meat and steam table blandness. read more

Look man, I don't know about their dining room, but don't order delivery. Part of it is my fault, yes. I was optimistic when I read "pig stomach." Somebody else wrote something about pork belly and I thought it was a hilarious translation error. Fine. I got what I deserved for being racist. But I also ordered "Boneless Duck." What I got was some part of a duck in what appeared to be a centimeter thick coating of soggy breading and laid over a bed of straight up, raw, iceberg lettuce (or some other such wholly unappealing green) with a box of rice and some kind of goo on the side. Maybe I ordered the wrong thing. Probably I ordered the wrong thing. But the chopsticks that came with the meal said "Asuka" on them and my husband said if he'd known that "Noodle Town" was actually "Asuka," he'd have told me that it wasn't any good. read more

Best Chinese take-out in Bloomington, period (in 2007). They have a small eating area that is fine for about 25 people. Eat-in or take-out, it doesn't matter their food is fabulous both ways. Might be just slightly higher (cents)in price from other area chinese take-out, but you will see if you compare the humongoid jump in quality. I had delivery from this restaurant. My first experience with this place. I ordered the skewers, wonton soup, and steamed dumplings. I was not disappointed! They were all delicious! I didn't warm up to Noodle Town at first, I really didn't like their version of Chinese food -- but then I had the soups. And wow. I totally changed my mind. The soups come with whatever kind of noodle you like (udon, rice, bean thread, etc), a delicious ginger broth, and a kind of meat (their pork is FABULOUS, their duck is NOT deboned so it doesn't really work for soup). Most of the Asian restaurants in Bloomington have a substandard atmosphere but Noodle Town is the exception. This is one of my favorite Chinese restaurants. Noodles, Fried Rice, Hot & Sour Soup, etc. My last experiment was Egg Foo Young - it's a very odd dish but very good! Their prices are a little high but you can save the leftovers for a second meal. I have visited the place twice since I moved to B-town. The first time I had a stew of chicken and salted fish with Tofu. It was TERRIBLE! They made it into a soup instead of a stew, and obviously they knew nothing about dealing with salted fish. Or maybe the chef was mexican? Anyway, it was terrible. The more recent time, I had singaporean fried rice stick. It was okay, a bit on the greasy side. No bean sprouts found but it was understandably an "expensive" ingredient in this town. Noodle town after much hype only gets three stars. The atmosphere is terrible, way to much going on, hello three restaurants in one?! I did not have any problems with the service, but the food while at the first few bites seemed good, the more I ate the more it kinda grossed me out. Brown gravy...... Eww. I had the wide square rice noodles with chicken. My boyfriend had the duck and pork noodle soup. The duck was soooo fatty and tasted tool gamey. My other friend had the Singapore noodles which were a little dry. So overall, I was disappointed. I will stick with oasis, oh and if you had any doubts as to my ability to rate Chinese food, I lived in china for a year and a half, so I know what the flavor profiles should be. I love noodletown! I live on the west side, but its well worth a trip on the bypass from time to time to hit up noodle town, which has some of the best Chinese food in Bloomington. They also have sushi and hibachi, which is kind of odd but not necessarily bad. Their service is top notch. I placed an order for takeout and ended up locking my keys in my car on the way there, so I called to tell them I'd be late. It ended up being a nearly two hour ordeal, and the woman kindly remade my order when I arrived so it would be fresh. Excellent food, friendly service. I feel bad that I almost only post negative reviews, but when we ordered for carry out we were floored by how good the food was. We can't help but keep going back! So, it is time for a positive review! The price is great for such good quality food. The staff were helpful (we have a peanut allergy and they were able to assure us there was no issue). The dining room is kept clean and the workers are very professional and prompt (this is a HUGE bonus point for the restaurant and something a lot of other local places should aspire to). The food is consistently good. That's the real amazing part. Everywhere else in town is hit-or-miss (well, some of them are consistently bad, but I'm giving the benefit of the doubt here). Everything seems to be cooked with such finesse, nothing is heavy-handed. Do yourself a favor, try it out and prepare to get quality food from professional and courteous people- what a relief (I'm looking at you House of Hunan and Oasis- both of which will get upset and refuse to fully refund money for such things as under-cooked chicken or veggies that smell like compost! Yikes!). So many great options. The only thing I wasn't impressed with was the veggie lo-mein. It wasn't bad by any stretch, just that everything else seemed so elevated that it fell a little flat. We eat out a bunch (not ashamed to admit it), and this is easily our go-to spot for Chinese (not sure if it is appropriate to call it Chinese really, since they have the sushi and hibachi joint attached, so maybe this is a Japanese take on Chinese??? So I may be confused about this place as Asuka and Noodle Town seem to be the same establishment, maybe split into two parts: the front and the back? Either way, I sat in the front part of the restaurant and ordered lots of sushi with roe and it was delicious. Standard, good sushi that filled my tummy with happiness. It filled my friend with a stomach ache, though, but could be that he isn't used to fresh, raw fish. There was a neat fish tank that I really enjoyed looking at while I was seated. So we ordered through Btownmenus. We had Generals Chicken, spice level from 1 to 10, we ordered 2 as wifey likes less heat. It was very flavorful. Plan to try higher spice next time for sure and wifey gets her own... On to Pork Egg Fou Young, very good as well. Comes with gravy as opposed to brown sauce. Excellent. Fried Rice and Lo Mien also excellent. Both had tons of flavor!! Sweet and Sour Pork was great. It was not just fried pork nuggets with phony red sauce on the side, but rather a mix with a few peppers and pineapple in a tangy sauce we loved. We intend to try other stuff on the huge menu. EXTREMELY cheap yet decent Chinese food on a budget.

We recently were here during graduation weekend. The food did not disappoint, it was outstanding as well. We have been to other locations outside the state. The consistency was all the way there. We recommend the spaghetti without meat balls. The sauce is awesome! The service was good as well. read more

Pretty darn good. Not as good as Dragon Express or Lucky Express (or Best Taste, or Dynasty) but much better than House of Hunan, Fortune Cookie, or Peach Garden. Entrees are a typical 8-9 bucks and are large enough to satisfy a very, very hungry person, meaning that if you do not demand so many calories, you've got leftovers or enough to split with somebody else. I like the sesame chicken and shrimp or pork fried rice. Good, comfortable American-Chinese food that hits the spot when I want something sweet and salty and starchy. My only complaint is that their sweet and sour sauce is nasty. However, I think that their crab rangoons are great as they are, so it's not a big deal for me. They definitely get my repeat business when making dinner at home feels like too much effort. 3.5/5 rounded up. read more

I've been a loyal and regular customer of this business for 10 years. Over the last two years, service here has really declined, but I loved the food so continued to go. Then this last weekend I called in a take out order and paid over the phone for my friend to pick up on the way to my house. When he got there, they wouldn't give him the food, claimed I hadn't paid, asked him to write down his credit card number to be saved "just in case", screamed at him and called me a "crazy person" repeatedly. All this over less than $20. I confirmed with my card company today that the payment did, in fact, clear. Even if they had botched the payment, this behavior is absolutely outrageous treatment of a customer over their own error. Never recommending or frequenting this place again. read more

Hands down best Chinese food in Bloomington! Owners are super nice & the new place looks awesome!

First off. The cooks are not Mexican. That is Resteraunt Ami. Do not confuse the two. I have many Chinese friends, and they agree this is the most authentic, and tasty Chinese place in town. Hot drop soup, amazing. Broccoli and beef, delish! Hong Kong spicy steamed dumplings, awesome (will make the nose drip haha). Very fair pricing. Sushi has great rice- its the simplest ingredients that make dishes a delight, not simply edible. Japanese side of menu a little higher priced- but compare to Japonee on Walnut- clearly the market is paying (they are alooot more expensive at J o W), but my Asian friends all agree, very fair pricing. This is a sit down experience. Not fast food. Don't expect fast food pricing. 40 dollars for large meals and drinks with enough left to take some home for a late night snack. Why is anyone complaining? If you want just a cheap meal, go to China Buffet on west end. All you can eat with drinks for two people, 17 dollars, yes total. But I guarantee your stomach will hurt afterward. If you'er simply hungry for Chinese go there. If you are CRAVING Chinese, go to Noodletown, also known as ASUKA. read more

What a disappointment. My husband and i both ordered a chicken dish with broccoli. The broccoli was wonderful but the chicken looked weird. We cut open every piece of chicken and found that there was no meat. Both of our dishes had only fat and skin. It was disgusting. The waiters are always nice and we always give a big tip, so this was a huge surprise. It was almost like a revenge meal! Ordered for delivery and my order was wrong. I tried to call and was on hold for over 7 minutes before I hung up. I paid a $5 delivery fee, tipped $3 with a total cost of $20. The waiters here are dishonest. They forgot to ask chef not to add onion in the dish. We told them what we found. They took the dish back and removed the onion instead of remaking another dish. However, the waiter told us the dish was remade. We found some pieces of onions still left in the dish afterwards. It's going to be bad for someone allergic to these. Will never come back. read more
