This place is utterly DELICIOUS and an expensive bargain (huh?) but..... BUT.... you probably don't want to come here.
#1 Stupidness: We came here a couple months ago but after seeing the ridiculous line on a weekend, we went to the Japanese curry restaurant next door. That was a smart move. Came back today, on a Wednesday night thinking mid-week, early dinner... shouldn't be bad.................. NOPE. Line out the door, almost past their neighbor. We got here at 6:13pm and was seated at 7:04, but only because they happened to have a small table and allowed us to jump 1/3rd the line cause it was just me, gf, and little boy. Expect to wait even longer, STANDING and STANDING without movement, without being able to put down your name.
#2 Stupidness: I hate it, I hate it, I hate how so many restaurants are going to online ordering. At least there's SOME cell phone service here for ATT, but even then I spent 10min trying to check out on their website and it just wouldn't take. Sometimes it would mysteriously backtrack and delete my CC, or other times delete my phone.......... OH YES, they will take your phone, FULL name, CC, basically everything about you except your address and picture and SSN. Ain't no other way to checkout. WTF. Eventually I was like f it and asked the waiter to take my order. He gave me their tablet, and that one did work.
So, total bill was $90 with tax and tip... keep that in mind as we review the food...
At least the food came fast...
1. House Special Beef Rib (Bone-In) Noodle Soup 24-Hour Cooked Broth $18.99: So about that "expensive bargain" bit... I tell you, the beef rib they serve here is The Most Impressive beef rib I've EVER seen in person, bar none, ANYWHERE. The only nicer one I saw was in a YT video about the 3 most highly rated BBQ joints in Texas, and one serves a RIDICULOUS beef rib that omfg makes me almost want to book a flight JUST to try. Anyway, imagine a succulent wagyu-like 5" x 3" x 1.5-2" thick straight-walled block of beyond-prime beef sitting on a 1.5ft long dinosaur bone. That sht sits on a 1 1/4 FOOT diameter bowl cradling a vibrant red soup completely covered in Thai red peppers and fried soybeans. It was absolutely magnificent!
Look, they must got the craziest source for meat, cause I got no clue where you can buy that kind of beef rib. But for sure, IF you can, I bet you that bone alone can easily cost you $10 from the butcher, just by itself. Just one. So, $19 for a bowl of noodle soup?--yeah, that's a lot. $19 for THIS???--unimaginably cheap.
I got the "thick noodle" which basically would be normal wheat noodles, and I guess if I had any criticism it would be that it can be cooked just tiny tad less long. And fyi, it gets soggy REALLY fast. Anyway, whatever.... easily the best beef rib soup I've ever had. 10/10
2. Beef Noodle Soup in 8-Hour Cooked Broth $13.99: Not as impressive as above in terms of impact, but it's also huge and PACKED with more thinly sliced braised beef than I've ever seen in a soup anywhere. 9/10
3. Lamb Skewers (4) $8.99: Same ultra-high quality meat--tender, juicy, fatty, and soooooo much cumin. Awesome. 10/10
4. Beef Brisket Rice Bowl $13.99: Normally sweet and Chinese don't mix, ESPECIALLY in sauce, noodles, and non-fried meats. But I dunno how they did it--the sauce was definitely sweet, but it had such a robust flavor that it was just utterly delicious. Might be the best beef bowl I've had in years. 10/10
5. Coconut Milk Drink $4: A bottle. Crazy creamy.
6. Hand Made Pot Stickers $10.99: I think this might be the only one that isn't easily top-notch. It really depends on your taste, but their skin is extremely doughy, almost like if your grandma was making it, and she was taught by her great grandma. Definitely isn't what you'd make on Lunar New Year's at home. The texture almost reminds me of crappy American "eggroll" wrappers--I think you know what I mean. BUT, for a dumpling, this could be legit given your taste. Meat stuffing was juicy and excellent. PERFECTLY golden fried. 8/10
So, $90, but I feel it was a bargain as this place was almost the Claim Jumpers of Chinese food! BUT...... I still don't know if it's worth the pain....?....??? Hmmm....
