This review is for their second location in Marina. It has been the cheapest satisfying meal we've had in the area. We ordered beef chow fun and the pork chop plate. They gave us lo mein instead, but it was fine. Nothing will blow your socks off, but it is reasonably priced home-style cooking dishes. Not a large menu: appetizers, noodles, rice dishes. This wasn't my first time here but was a little disappointed with my last visit. First of all the boba wasn't ready when we arrived which I understand because we showed up right when they opened, but I would think that's something they would be prepared for. My girlfriend asked for a vegetarian pho with beef broth because she likes the flavor of beef broth but the waiter seemed very confused by this request and eventually acted like he knew what she wanted but she ended up with something completely different. The fried egg rolls we ordered came out much later than our pho and our waiter explained that they were still very frozen and apologized which was honestly a little off putting to the dish. Great comfort food for phö. My goto is the combination phö or the chicken phö. Both flavorful and hits the spot on cold weather days. I always get the pork and shrimp spring rolls. The peanut sauce that comes with is okay. I usually like a thicker sauce. This place is tiny. I think it has round 9-11 bar stools because it's a noodle bar. My old complaint would be the Sweet and sour chicken. Kind of tasted more bbq and didn't have any pineapple. Fantastic little hole in the wall spot for a fast, good quality meal! I highly recommend this place. PROs: The place isn't big, but you can get a very quality meal for a cheap price. The price isn't so cheap the food is of low quality. The staff is always quick and courteous. I enjoy anything that's BBQ flavored. The spring rolls are also very good and fresh. You will never wait more than about 7 mins for a meal. It usually comes out in about 4 mins though. The bathroom is small but is clean. Their bono smoothies are terrific as well. Especially the green tea matcha. CONs: Double edged sword with the seating here. Only about a dozen bar stools but this does work in your advantage because the kitchen is never really behind on orders. read more

Are you going to place an order to go by phone? They changed things a bit. After Noodle Bar text you that your meal is ready, it's not. Well, the cooked food is ready, but not your drinks. They now make the drinks after you arrived and paid for your meal. I was told that it's a new policy. Before, they used to make the cold drinks and place it in the refrigerator. So, when you arrive to pay and pickup, everything is ready. Now, depending on how busy they are, it may take a while before your drinks are ready while your hot food is getting cold. Yesterday, I waited an extra 7 minutes after I paid for my order and it wasn't busy. I have to say, that their food is great! It's always good. I love their 5 spice chicken and fried shrimps. I like how they redecorate and added new tables. Although, the next time I order from the Noodle Bar by phone. I will bring an insulated bag to keep my food warm while waiting for my drinks. Plus, I'll tell my little Grandson that Grandma will be a little longer to pick up our meal. read more

I went here when I was staying across the street at a hotel while travelling through the area. Looking at the area, you can see the influence of the US Military in the area from the former Army base that was here, Fort Ord. Lots of places that serve food from South East Asia... and this is one of them. Walking in, I could sense that this was the real deal. This was a place where you could get a good bowl of authentic pho and enjoy every bite. Seating is very limited, reduced to a row of stools along the bar. It is a very tiny place, taking up half of the typical space you would see from a strip mall. However, it fits, and you get a good bite. I ordered the spring rolls and the beef and meatball pho. The spring rolls came out first, of course, and they were quite good. After that came the pho with all of the usual trappings, which I happily added. A nice bowl of chili was available right in front of me, which is always nice to add... I like my pho with plenty of spice thrown in. Once I was done, I walked out of the place at a slower pace, heading back to my hotel room, past the Filipino market and the dive bars, music playing from various cars in the parking lot, satisfied with my meal and happy to be heading back to the hotel. read more

This was by far the cheapest meal I had during my trip, $7.50 for the reg size 5 Spice BBQ Chicken Dry Noodle, and it was quite delicious too. Yum!! Yep--it's cash only. Yep--it's a tiny place with counter seating only--maybe 12 seats?? The food is generously served and it is fantastic. Service was great too. I loved my chicken in oyster sauce served with a side of fried rice. It was good quality chicken and the sauce was so flavorful. The eggrolls (pork) that we added were great too. The pork chop was tasty but a bit fatty. I'm sure some people would have loved that but I prefer it meatier. Anyway--the restaurant is in a tiny strip mall and was constantly busy. Most people were picking up take-out but we scored the last two bar stools and enjoyed our late lunch there. This is a "must return" kind of place. Nothing fancy at all but good food! My dinner here was a little sweeter than I'd prefer (making it seem a little more americanized) but still wonderful none the less. I started with the grilled shrimp spring rolls. I think just the regular shrimp and pork would have been more suiting for my taste but I wanted to try something different. Then I had to go with the famous 5 spice dry noodle bowl of course! It was good. Very saucy but maybe a tad bit too sweet. Making it spicier would improve it in my opinion-- maybe some kind of spicy oil. You could always add siracha but that changes the flavor. I also ordered a thai tea.It was average and probably not worth how many calories are in it, lol The service was excellent. You have to love the "hole-in-the-wall" restaurants, which is not an inaccurate description of the Fremont Bl location of Noodle Bar. It's a cash-only business in an older strip mall, between a $1 store and a small clothing store that does embroidery. At least there's a neon sign to help find the restaurant. In the past, our friends would only get Boba drinks. This time around, we did take-out food, and we did well! The Vietnamese dishes all appear authentic, the "dry" noodle dishes were quite good and generous. My son got the broccoli beef, also nicely done, at least he didn't try to order a cheeseburger. The udon dish was nothing like Japanese cuisine, but still tasty. The sauce was thick and flavorful. The chow fun isn't really chow fun -- the dish is made with ramen noodles along with chicken (I assume you can substitute meats). Also very good if you abandon any notion this is authentic Chinese (to their credit, the menu description does accurately describe their dishes). The prices are a highlight, dishes are downright cheap for what you get. Since we did takeout, we didn't experience dining in, of what we could tell there wasn't much atmosphere, most people sitting at the counter. Addictive and delicious for not much money. Very unassuming location with not much space inside. Don't let that deter you since the beach is close. Have a picnic and pick up some food to go. We got the springrolls/egg rolls to start that were light and flavorful and not greasy. My husband got the chow mein which he did not want to share and I got a pork cold noodle dish.
