Tried Nonna's Empanadas and loved the little detail of each one being stamped with its flavor. Super cute and helpful. Got 5: cheeseburger, salsa verde chicken, Korean BBQ, carne asada, and beef. Surprisingly, the cheeseburger was my favorite. It was gooey, well-balanced, and a great filling-to-crust ratio. Saved a couple for later and reheated them in the microwave. The crust still held up nicely, soft but not soggy. Each one had a distinct flavor, and the spicy chimichurri was a perfect addition

Located within the original Farmer's Market in Los Angeles (Adjacent to the Grove), this place offers fresh, tasty, and filling empanadas. Each empanada is priced at $5.94. There are numerous flavors available, each with its unique flavor, including beef, chicken, seafood, pork, veggie, vegan & sweet. Employees are friendly and helpful. Everything about this place is inviting, especially the location, as I am a massive fan of the original Farmer's Market.

I picked up 3 beef, 1 cubano and 1 Filipino beef empanadas to try. All were very fresh and delicious. Friendly service. Definitely will come back again.

Shrimp empanada with Salsa Verde - highly recommended!

If you're looking for a quick + delicious snack, this is the place to get one. Every culture has their own version on a filling wrapped in a pastry. What Nonna's is great at is having a vast variety of quality, made-from-scratch empanadas. Have 1 or 2 for a snack. More for a meal. FOOD - Shrimp Empanada 8.7 / 10 Tender pieces of plump shrimp served in the signature warm, flaky, pastry crust. You or course have to get their salsa verde. I'm constantly pleasantly surprised that Nonna's is able to serve all of their empanadas as the precisely the perfect temperature. It's never to hot, that the fillings burn your mouth, not are is it ever too cold. Are they a bit pricey? Yes. But it's 2025 & inflation is a thing. Food costs, labor costs, overhead, etc.

To be short and sweet; I'm addicted to nonnas empanadas. Anytime I'm on this side of town with time to stop this is ONE OF MY GO TO SPOTS. The carne asada is a fave as is the chicken; they have some dessert style empanadas like pumpkin or the new strawberry cheesecake. For locals or tourists this is a spot to try. Service is fast and some flavors run out fast so come early if you want the most options. Located in the farmers market

Loved the variety in their showcase and the helpful suggestions with posting which fillings were best sellers. Salsa Verde Empanada - This was on their best sellers list. I definitely saw why. TONS of chicken and it was seasoned so well. Wished it came with a little salsa. Chicken Alfredo Empanada - Tasted exactly like how it said, but for some reason it wasn't really a favorite of mine. But it tasted exactly like chicken alfredo. The empanadas came out warm and ready to eat. They also came with an oil and herb sauce. Not much flavor there. Didn't really do much. I did love how they stamped each empanada with the filling type that was inside. Great organization for them and also for the customer. The price was fair for the amount of filling that came in each empanada. Tons of seating at the farmers market. Definitely want to go back and try more of their menu!

These empanadas are packed with flavor! I'd recommend the beef empanada. The carne asada is flavorful but the texture is not my cup of tea, it's more shredded than pieces of carne. The verde chicken was a good too!

This place is amazing. They have several types of empanadas from Korean to Filipino to Hawaiian to Indian. There's a whole lot of choices you can choose from. They're very delicious and well filled. I highly suggest this particular eatery in the original Los Angeles farmers market on Fairfax. the service is extraordinary and the ambience is festive.

First time trying this empanadas. We got dessert empanadas. Dulce de leche and Nutella empanadas are filled with flavorful fillings. Their empanadas are soft with flaky crusts and warm. Dulce de leche empanadas have strong cream cheese taste with sweetness from caramel filling. These empanadas are baked and very enjoyable with sweetness from caramel filling as well as Nutella filling. Recommended.

I came across Nonna's for my first time when I was venturing about the LA Farmers Market looking for something quick and good. There was a small line which is always a good sign and so I got in as well and took some time figuring out what fillings I wanted in the empanadas. It's not a restaurant but more of counter service establishment with a few seats, so grabbing a box to go is the main option perhaps to enjoy at the more communal seating areas within the Farmers Market area. There's 30 + variations of empanadas all spanning from savory to sweet. They do have some signs notifying about some of their best sellers to help you choose. The empanadas are freshly made and baked and served pretty quickly. I went ahead and ordered the beef, chicken jalapeno and mushroom (and cheese) during my first visit. The whole ordering process was fairly quick and went smoothly. I ordered the Combo #2 which is 3 empanadas and a basic drink ($18.26). The empanadas were freshly made and put in a box to be carried around; I was asked if I wanted a sauce and had the chimichurri on the side. Each empanada was the same size (about 6 inches or so), and there was a neat stamp that indicated which empanada was which (clever!). For the most part (and for my personal taste) the empanadas were fine, not very crispy (these are baked so there's one reason) and slightly bland but the chimichurri sauce helped elevate the flavors. Surprisingly out of the three (beef, chicken & jalapeno, and mushroom and cheese) the mushroom and cheese one was my favorite as the feta gave it a good little tang. Prices for each empanada are currently $5.94 so it's not really cheap, but then again this is LA and well the economy is what it is. This location of Nonna's is at the the well known Original Farmers Market but they also have other locations again at another area on W 3rd St, plus locations at The Americana and in Grand Central Market. I believe they validate parking if needed.

I was excited to try and get a box go to take back to Vegas! I ordered just one verde chicken with the chimichurri on the side. It was good! Perfect portion to enjoy. Sooooo many options to choose from. Service was friendly. I went right at opening so no line. I wanted to take a box home to enjoy and give to some friends, but they don't have any cold ones to go. I would have had to order a box of warm fresh ones and let them cool down before packing them.

An OK experience at Nonna's Empanadas. It is located in The Original Farmers Market @ The Grove in Los Angeles. There are plenty empanadas flavors to choose from. When it comes to empanadas, I normally sample both sweet and savory options. On this occasion I purchased the guava, chicken Alfredo, and Philly cheesesteak. Overall, the flavors were OK. Not the best I've had, but certainly not the worst. The customer service was very good. Also, being able to see the staff prepare some of the empanadas for baking was a sight to see. Overall, an OK experience. I'll give them another try when in the area.

We were greeting by a friendly staff member, perhaps the owner, who helped us with our empanada selection. We got spicy chicken, spicy beef, corn, and criolla empanadas. I strongly recommend the Criolla empanada, which is the most traditional, Argentinian empanada. It has ground beef, raisins, eggs, green onions, and spices. It was absolutely delicious and, when I go back, I will select this empanada!! I also recommend the corn empanadas (humita), especially if you're looking for a vegetarian option. It has corn, melted mozzarella, and white sauce. So delicious! I got these to go, but there are cute tables indoors and outdoors if you want to enjoy your empanadas there. They also sell mate and other Argentinian goodies like alfajores. Prices are reasonable; you can purchase just a few or a dozen. This has become my favorite empanada place!

While the empanadas are $7.50 each, they are large and packed pretty well. Unfortunately that's where it ends... I tried four different kinds (cheese and potato, beef, criolla and chicken) and while they tasted fresh, they just didn't have a lot of flavor. I was also a little disappointed that they were fried instead of baked. They don't compare to the empanadas at El Gaucho market in North Redondo Beach, which has been my go to spot for empanadas for a while. Now those are super flavorful. Two disappointing stars for the empanadas and an extra star for customer service.

They have a large assortment of different flavor empanadas. Since it was my first time here, I really appreciated that they marked the fan favorites. We got 3 different flavors as part of the Combo meal with a drink (canned soda of your choice). Carne Asada - This was my favorite! Finely ground beef that's well-seasoned, and very saucy and flavorful. I also love that the empanada didn't break apart given how saucy it was. The outside shell was also very well made. Korean BBQ - This was picked out of curiosity since it was a popular one. This tastes like bulgogi, even the seasoning. Definitely saucier than the Carne Asada, but it did get tricky to eat closer to the end. Chicken - Really wanted to try the Chicken Verde but they were sold out so opted for chicken. It's definitely as expected, but I would like to try the popular Chicken Verde next time. While these are a bit pricy at $6 each, the 3 Empanada + Drink Combo does make it a little better. These are also quite substantial so I can't imagine eating more than two, if you're not that hungry, even one might work as a quick snack. We shared the 3 amongst two people. The ambiance is fun and lively if you like people. It can be crowded and annoying at times given it's GCM. Also, if you are new to this area, there's no AC since it's an open space, so on hot days it can be a lot. They do have seating in the back that have a lot more fans above. After this experience, I would come back again and try some more flavors. I was also surprise to find they have some dessert empanadas too (sweet flavors). This is a great option if you are looking for a snack or quick meal!

I ordered a philly cheesesteak and a korean bbq empanada and they were both good. I don't know that I would order those again. The cheesesteak was good but I believe there was a sweetness from the dough that was throwing me off. For the korean bbq, it was too sweet all together for me and it was a meat overload. I would return to try some of the other flavors but I wouldn't grab these again.

Like genuinely one of the best horchata I've ever had, it was super creamy and flavorful but not overly sweet. I tried one of their desserts being their banana and Nutella empanada along with other savory empanadas. Everything was amazing. The Nutella + banana one was definitely a standout for me because they did not hold back at all. It was packed with chocolate and banana in every bite, which I loved because I'm a huge chocolate person. It didn't feel skimpy or dry at all, just super rich and satisfying! For the savory options, I tried the chile con carne, Santa Fe chicken, the breakfast, and the beef & potato. Every single one was delicious, seriously you cannot go wrong with any of them. BUT my favorite was for sure the Santa Fe chicken!! It had so much flavor and tasted really well-seasoned. You can tell everything is made with care. Their green chimichurri needs its own praise. I've tried a fair amount of chimichurris from different restaurants and grocery stores, but this one!!! This one is done perfectly. I can't describe the flavor to you, you just have to try it haha. It goes so well with any of the empanadas! Also, the empanadas came out HOT. Like actually steaming when I opened them, which made them that more enjoyable. Everything tasted really fresh. On top of that, the service was so sweet. The girls working there were really kind and welcoming, which just made the whole experience even better. Definitely coming back because I'm already craving that horchata and Nutella banana empanada again!! Thank you so much for having me :)
