This was my first time here, and I had a great experience. I met my wife here for lunch during her lunch break. I brought our kiddos with me; the place had food for the kiddos as well. My kids ate chicken nuggets, which is actually a decent portion for a kids' meal; we had leftovers from the kids' meal alone. Then I got wings, and my wife got a sandwich. The wings were delicious. I don't even know what flavors I got because I picked unique ones I had never tried before, and they were some of the best-tasting wings I ever had. The wings were juicy and crispy while the sauce was on point. My favorite item was actually their mango juice; it was so good, especially in this early summer heat. Damn, what a meal! I ordered 12 wings and had about 4 left that I got to eat for dinner. Took plenty of sauces home. The food was on point, and I can't wait to come back and try some other items. After reading so many glowing reviews, Starbird was high on my list of chicken places to try. I tried four places in four days, and Starbird came in last. Not even close. I was disappointed. The sandwich was small...about the size of a McDonald's hamburger, and it all fit underneath the hand-sized bun. I had the Japanese BBQ Bird. It was an OK sandwich, but nothing special or memorable. No need to say more. For a side, I had the Crispy Thai Brussels Sprouts. No crispiness. They were drenched in something like a thick balsamic glaze. It was overpowering. I could only eat about four at a time and come back to them later. They came with Thai herb aioli. It didn't help. One and done for Starbird for me. All the best to you, though. Starbird Chicken is a great fried chicken option and this location in Fairfax has become my go to. Sandwiches, wings, tenders, salads - however you like your crispy chicken, Starbird has you covered. The great thing about their chicken here is it is so packed full of flavor without the heaviness of other places. Originally from the Bay, they pride themselves on using gluten free flour, no antibiotics in the chicken, fresh veggies & sauces made daily. It's elevated fast food, which we love here in Los Angeles. Their new Japanese BBQ flavor is money! I liked the togarashi, furikake, umami vibes on the boneless tenders. They also have a ton of great sauce options ~ truffle aioli is the winner for me! If you go to pickup in person, keep in mind they make their eats to order so you may have to wait a few. They do have a couple of dedicated 15 minute parking spots in the small lot for pickup orders, so that's a positive in LA! I Can't believe I haven't written a review for this place yet. I order from here at least once a week. I usually get one of their salads with their "Garden Bird" chicken (non meat option). The salad is always made with super fresh ingredients and the service is ALWAYS exceptional. I have been neck deep in opening a business and stopped in late one evening to order takeout and was so exhausted that I dropped my CC after ordering at the kiosk and didn't notice for several days. After backtracking my steps I called and sure enough they had it for me. Let's get down right to it. The food at this location is average. They don't follow online order instructions on takeout orders. They get a 3 because a 3 is average and this place hasn't made us sick. Twice I've requested chipotle lime dressing in my side salad and twice they provided green goddess. Yesteday, I paid for added chicken. This location charged me but failed to add it. We requested no cilantro in the chopped salad. They appeared to not only add it but they added extra. It was hard to eat the salad when one of the things we asked to omit was all up in there, figuratively laughing at us. The nuggets we received yesteday were small and oddly shaped. So much for consistency. The number we ordered usually is more than enough, not yesteday. Then lemon pepper wings are usually a good mix of plentiful wings and drumlettes. Not yesterday -- consistency be damned. This review might seem nit-picky but when you order food like this, it shouldn't be that hard to meet basic requests and expectations. I love coming to Starbird! The chicken is always fresh, hot, and you can't beat the prices. This location is kept very clean and you can either order at the counter or at machines in the front. They have chicken in just about every form (tenders, sandwiches, nuggets, wings, etc.). I recently tried the Chicken Parm Sandwich and it did not disappoint. Having marinara and pesto on it was a nice touch and I would definitely order again. Starbird is also great because they offer a large variety of dipping sauces for all your chicken and they usually don't nickel and dime you. They then proceeded to pile up on orders, seemingly standing around doing nothing, getting all the orders mixed up, and even treating customers with no modicum of respect. I feel it sort of fell off with them. It's not the Starbird that I have fondly remembered eating at before. This place has been going downhill but it's finally hit rock bottom and that is a lot to say about what was essentially upscaled fast food. Used to be good when they opened. 6 PM Thursday evening. I just picked up my fried chicken sandwich and fries and the fried chicken is perfectly round and not the same crunchy thick fried texture that the original sandwiches had. It's like something from Wendy's or McDonald's. NOTHING like what you see in the pictures and what I had come to enjoy. The chicken would literally extend outside of the bun. Now the texture of the coating is very thin and uniform (slides off of the chicken). It's clearly frozen processed chicken. Fries were cold. Ordered ranch dressing, but they just threw in Sriracha mayo instead. Could've cared less. Also, I asked to use the restroom while I was waiting for them to complete my order and the employee said "they are closed." So where do YOU use the restroom I should have asked?
