Nomad internet sounded like a good deal and some reviews were very positive. Creative RV site raved about the service, so I decided to try it. Went with the strong pink plan on recommendation of Nomad's address finder. They sent me the router with a T-Mobile sim installed. I followed their Nomad directions for setting up the system. Imagine my surprise when I could only get my laptop to connect. It would show "connected, secure" but there was no internet. Since this was a cheap grade Chinese made router, I surmise that this was part of the reason it didn't work.Got on line for tech support and was advised to shut down router, pull sim card, take photo of sim and send it to the tech; the imei number is on the sim, so why do they need a pic of it? Sent pic and all numbers from the sim. was told that technicians would have to look at the service and reset everything to make it work. Waited 48 hours and nothing. No email asking how it was working. This is probably because they knew it wasn't working. These sim resellers apparently send out limited sims which in a couple of days will quit working. The strong pink plan didn't work at all. They advised they would send out a replacement. So, about 2 weeks later I got the replacement which was another Chinese router. The sim was from v's'ble and not Verizon as the deep red plan should be. Now with the replacement, it at least connects to the wifi, but internet speeds are horribly slow. Ping is usually 106 with download speeds of 12 mbps at most. The upload speed shows to be about double the download speed. Regardless of that fact, I don't need upload speed as I don't upload much. So, I got back on the support chat(because there is no direct talking to a tech because of covid) ?? really, you can't talk to people on the phone because of covid? The tech person recommended that I shut down the router, pull the sim card, wait 5 minutes and then restart the router. Did that, but no luck in any faster speed for download.
My final recommendation is that you stay as far away from NOmad internet as possible. They keep offering to send out replacement routers but I told them no. I'm trying to get an actual verizon store brand hot spot. I figure with the 150 MB plan and two trac phone plans with 50 GB each to work with, I believe that the actual verizon equipment and an actual verizon data plan will do so much better than this POS from Nomad Internet. read more
