The free aperitif of sparkling wine is nice. The food I've gotten there in 2 tries is lacking. Example is the Gambas al Ajillo. It is not authentic. It's a simple app dish of shrimp done in olive oil and sweet paprika garlic sherry parsely sauce. There is no tomato or green pepper ??, not sure what the green was other than it was not parsely because there was no discernible parsely. The seasoning was off as too sweet. I had never made it but a few days later I did from an authentic recipe (they are all basically the same because it is a common Spanish tapas dish) and it was delish which theirs could not compare to because it was not made right. When people order a dish like that they expect the real thing not a version of it. On another occasion, the fish in my fish dish was not fresh and the saffron broth lacked saffron flavor. The desert was a banana cake and it was nothing special. The decor is mostly awesome and the mood too except for the strange cheap black curtains when you come in. I understand the purpose as an attempt at a entrance and breeze break but it looks cheap. Two walls black like the curtains would maybe be better??? The restaurant is very reminiscent of little places on the off beaten track in and around the French Quarter. The art work for sale was amazing. I loved all that but its not the food and service. Service has been lacking in a number of ways except that it is friendly. I know that there is a server availability problem in the industry but even considering that its just not acceptable. Although sitted promptly that was it. It took forever for 2 of us to dine there due to disappearing wait staff. It wasn't busy when we arrived. We were there at least 2 hrs. On another occasion I sat at the bar right after 3 pm when they open and was given a menu then waited for a half hr to actually order while the server messed around behind the bar doing busy work. When the bill came the wine price was $1 more than on the menu. When brought to the servers attention she acted like it was no big deal and I got the feeling she thought I should just pay it. Maybe I'm hitting this place on bad nights or ordering the wrong thing but I'm not inclined to return. I'm astonished that it is a James Beard nominee after only being open a year or so with lots of kinks to work out. Maybe I will give it one more try because we need a place like this and I so wanted to like it. read more

2.5stars mainly because of service. Got there early on a Sunday & it was empty. The person sitting at the bar got up to seat us & explained a few things & said our server would be over. She explained everything to us because it's a lot of small plates. We ordered & enjoyed apps & wine, then entrees. Our server started to get busy in another room which resulted in us being neglected & having to ask for water refills several times. The biggest disappointment was as we were leaving, the OWNER LILLI & 2 staff sitting at the bar/office NEVER looked at us with a goodbye or thank you for coming in. 1 other table in the restaurant & you couldn't even say goodbye. This place is a gem especially given the lack of good european style dining in the South Denver area. We went for our wedding anniversary recently and were greeted immediately and our table was waiting, along with a personal card signed by the staff wishing us a Happy Anniversary which was a very nice touch. They poured us both a glass of champagne, and we started the evening with the Well Balanced Charcuterie board which was wonderful, an also a ton of food, much more than we expected. The Balsamic Onion Jam was the star of the show, but everything else was also terrific, with a great paring of nuts, cheeses, meets, fruits, and 'cruncies.' When we 'finished' the board we ordered Beef Chateau Briand and the fish special with had been changed out, not unusual for a place that wants to serve only fresh seafood in CO, with a cod dish. Now, if we knew how much more food was coming we probably would have ordered only one plate to share, but we were glad we ordered both. First came the chateau briand and it was cooked perfectly, the meat was juicy and tender, and the veggies, onion rice, and sauce were incredible. When the cod came out, like everything else, it was cooked just right and literally melted in your mouth, and the au graten sliced sweet potato was an excellent pairing with it. We each also had a glass of wine and the server picked out two great glasses, a white for my wife who sadly has issues with red wine, and a beautiful pinot for myself. I would highly recommend this place, and look forward to coming here and not just for special occasions. We have already talked about inviting friends to share a glass of wine, and to help us try some of their other charcuterie boards, especially when the evenings get a little warmer and we can sit out side. One last thing, the service was impecable. Do not go here if you are looking for a quick in and out dinner because they know how things should be done, that good food is meant to be enjoyed slowly, with short breaks between dishes, but always letting you know that they are there to serve you, fill empty glasses, and answer any questions you may have. read more

Selected Nolia as the perfect place for a first date, which it absolutely was. It's quaint, has wonderful ambience, a wonderful selection of wine and other cocktails, and each small plate was composed of the freshest ingredients! The Burundi was an especially divine. It's not a typical fish you find in regular restaurants (you definitely won't find it in chains). The other thing I appreciate about this restaurant is the owner came to each table, even making an excellent wine recommendation, and pouring it for us. if you have a special occasion, this would definitely be the place to go. So often restaurants in the suburbs are designed to get you in and out. The casual paced, chill with friends and enjoy your evening options seem more downtown area located. This place is such a breath of fresh air. A truly creative menu with a unique approach and in tune with fresh seasonal ingredients. Also a large varied wine list. Perfect evening of hanging out with friends, enjoying an individually customized charcuterie board and some small plates along with a nice glass of wine. I'm not sure how best to express our experience here a couple of weeks ago except to say - OMG! The restaurant name is unfortunate (although the owner is in the process of changing it); it doesn't in anyway give a clue to the dining experience you're going to get here. Me and The Hubs came here for a date night after reading very positive comments on another site. Dig-In is a "continental European style restaurant with a south Louisiana influence" according to their website, and I would definitely agree. This is the type of restaurant that you usually only find downtown. It's a fairly small place; there are two rooms (one of which, I believe can be used for private functions). I didn't count the tables in both areas, but I would guess there are maybe around 20 or so total (looked like a mix of 2 and 4-tops). Anyway.. We had a reservation for our date night and had a nice spot by a window near the front door (window looks out onto a nice patio). We were poured a complimentary glass of a sparkling wine after we were seated and while we perused the menu. I also ordered my usual Negroni (that was made to perfection, btw) and The Hubs ordered a nice bottle of red that we shared with dinner. We started with the 'Well Balanced' charcuterie board (prosciutto, sopresatta, 'smokin' goat' cheese, campo de montalban cheese, herbed cream cheese, and an assortment of veggies, fruits, nuts and crunchies), which was fabulous (just as a note, it does take them a while to assemble these boards). We also shared the Gambas al Ajillo (jumbo tiger shrimp in a spicy pepper garlic broth, served with grilled jalapeno cheddar bread), the Arugula Pear Salad (arugula, wine braised pears, poached walnuts, bleu cheese, champagne honey mustard vinaigrette), and the Today's Bread (fresh local bread, grilled and served with tomato chutney and green chili cream cheese). Everything was fabulous. We may have ordered too much as I was absolutely stuffed by the time we were done. It's such a nice concept for a restaurant. I like 'comfort food' as much as the next person, but enough is enough; it's nice to see a new place that offers something different and fills a culinary void in this part of town. Kudos! read more

I was looking for a place to go for happy hour and saw Dig In Eats listed on Yelp. The reviews and pictures looked great, so we decided to try it out. When we walked in we were immediately greeted by a very sweet waitress (who had just started working there two days ago). She told us we could sit wherever we'd like. The interior of the restaurant is very quaint and the wall of wine above the bar is impressive. We were then offered a small glass of bubbly to drink on the house while we perused the menu, which made our first impressions even better. We then asked about their happy hour prices and were directed to a little sheet of paper in the menu which listed a couple wines and a margarita for $9, and four appetizers (Mini Charcuterie Board ($15), Trio of Dips with chips ($10), Pan Con Tomate ($8), or a Cup of Soup & Sourdough ($8). We decided to split the Mini Board and the Happy Hour Dips, along with a Margarita for me and one of their non-alcoholic drinks for my friend (on the main menu for $9). The drinks were ok, but neither of us felt that they were worth $9 each. We were not impressed with the dips as all three of them were small and pretty bland. The cheese, meat and jam on the Mini Board was good, and we really liked the pickled caper berries, but we thought it was small portions for the price. The items on their Small Plates & Tapas menu looked really good, and we wished that they offered some of those at a discount for happy hour. I did not think that their happy hour was a very good deal. Their regular menu items do sound good and, although I think they are a bit pricey, I will return to try them for dinner or brunch. read more

My boyfriend and I went to celebrate my birthday and were so impressed with every part of the meal, starting with complimentary bubbly, the wine, aged board, lamb lollipops, duck confit, and tiramisu were all to die for! Everything came perfectly paired with the other foods on the plate as well. We both would rate this as one of the best restaurants in Denver! Love the options on the menu and definitely a more unique taste compared to many other restaurants in the area. Service was very attentive and ambience was very romantic as well. A friend and I decided to do bunch at Nolia this morning at 11am. I ordered the Spanish Scramble. Unfortunately my entree was luke warm and my friend ordered a Ham California Benedict. Her entree was would of been potentially served hot, but after 2 requests for a knife hers was barely warm also. She asked for hollandaise on the side. When the server eventually came over she politely asked about her hollandaise and they said she could pay for more on the side. It was just disappointing overall. read more

We've come here three times now and do you know how some restaurant experiences can feel a little disjointed? Like a place that has great ambiance for a date night except the music is too loud to talk across the table? Or great wine selection but a stiff bartender? Dig In was one of the rare experiences where we felt everything just, well, worked. If you want a drink for happy hour, it has a warm inviting bar, friendly staff with a great drink selection. If you're out on a date, it has a romantic ambiance combined with great get-to-know-each-other small bites. If you're dining with a picky eater (or are the picky eater), the ala cart charcuterie will get you all of what you want and none of what you don't. If you enjoy being a bit of a snob about wine or cheese, their staff is super experienced and enthusiastic to tell you all they know or learn from you. It just felt like at every turn this restaurant was letting my experience breathe and have it's own life. This place just opened recently and we stopped in for happy hour after work on a Friday afternoon - excellent experience. Cute and cozy interior, super friendly staff, and a fun concept for a wine bar. I really enjoyed the wines I tried and the build your own charcuterie board was so fun. So many tasty options. They also have small apps and paninis, pre made themed charcuterie boards, and a large enough wine list that you'd be able to try something new or something in your wheelhouse, regardless of your wine preference. They are still working out some kinks in the space but that's expected in any new operation. Definitely will go here again. I don't write too many reviews, but after our recent dining experience I did think I should share. My spouse and I were excited to find a cute locally owned place in our neighborhood. We visited for happy hour and decided to invite out of town guests for a special brunch. We were a party of six and we did make a reservation. We were for the most part, the only diners for the majority of our meal. There was a table of 2 for part of the brunch. As the restaurant highlights a "Louisiana" flare, 3 of us opted for the crab cake benedict. I love crab cakes and benedicts, so was excited about this selection. The other 3 opted for an omlette and another specialty. The omlette for the single diner came out by itself. As the other entrees did not appear soon thereafter, he finally started to eat. A couple of the benedicts came out, and after waiting so long, it was surprising that the food was actually not hot. The hollandaise sauce bordered on cold. The crab cakes were not in fact "cakes," but large scoops of heavily laden sauce with some crab. Also, the crab was not fresh. After a couple bites, that was all I could eat. The two of us waited a bit to see if the rest of our party would have their meals come out right after, but no. So we started to eat and three of the diners still had no meals. The first diner was done eating by the time the last meals appeared. Again, the sauce was cold, so it is a mystery as to why they were coming out at different times. Also, as the restaurant was almost empty, this was disconcerting. As we were having a special reunion with family visiting, especially at this price, this was definitely very disappointing. read more
