My wife and dog and I very much enjoy this taproom, and come here maybe three or four times a year for a couple of pints and a meal from their interesting rotation of food trucks. They have a very expansive selection of beers that rotate in and out frequently, so there's always something new to try. They frequently have live music on the weekend. There is a west-facing patio and a north-facing patio, so you can choose sun or shade to suit your preference. The staff is pleasant and friendly. While the inside has limited seating, it offers ample outdoors seating, which is more helpful in the summer months. Additionally, it has plenty of food options available, including food trucks, and my personal favorite- Taste of Philly next door. While it doesn't blow you away, I've been there twice now, and would come back in the future. read more

This spot reminds me of the breweries I frequented in my hometown of Loudoun County, VA so if felt like being back home. I dig the Colorado breweries-only vibe since you have to represent. Beers of course are excellent. I loved the Graham Cracker Porter. The beer combined with sitting outside in the tent next to the heater gave that campfire feels you can only get in Colorado. Been here probably over 12 times. They have a lot of beers and they rotate often. With that being said, their beer is barely cold. It's more closer to room temperature than cold. It's not refreshing. And for a place that is all about beer, they really should know how important the temperature is for a refreshing beer. Additionally service is not the best. Often times the bar is ignored while the beer pourer focuses entirely on the line of people that is over on the left side of the bar. Clearly everyone here was related to the employees in some way- and whatever- but let the rest of us who just wanted to grab a couple of beers and enjoy the day know there would be a zoo of insane and badly behaving children running around while a bunch of "classy" parents play music where every other word was N****r. When i usually go to this food truck it's normally in a strip mall that you have to buy and take home. At least this location you have the option to eat your meal hot a beer or two. I will say, I cannot speak to the beer since I'm pregnant at the moment. I plan to partake as soon as I am able. The selection is awesome as an observer. The day I went I was disappointed that the food truck that was supposed to be there was actually at another location when I did some digging on why they were not there. (We had come on a date night and I was hoping to get some food.). I know it's not Max Taps fault if a food truck decides not to be there but it would have been nice if they had updated their website or Instagram with the lack of food. We had been looking forward to having dinner and had to make other arrangements on the fly. The service is ok, although there wasn't any water available to me, and that's all I can drink at this place at the moment. It is a really cool location and the outdoor seating is really great for small and large groups. I don't think my assessment was a normal day of business, however, there should have at least been some water available for those not looking for beer. If I had remembered I would have brought my own water bottle. read more

There is plenty of available seating- a main room with bar/taps and secondary room (specifically for those with pups) with tv's and games. Oh, outside seating but it was a tad chilly on our visit. Friendly and attentive staff. Food trucks and live music. I would definitely recommend a visit if you haven't been. I went to Max Taps during their Octoberfest opening and was confronted by an obvious racist during a misunderstanding. During this altercation, the man tried to demean me and intimidate me with his buddy over his lack of attention to the numerous bar lines that opened. He cut in front of me but not the 3 men who were in front of me and led the change in lines. He then tried to act like it was me who was in the wrong and then challenged me to a fight. Out of everyone he could have been mad at, it had to be me. The only person of color in that entire bar. Who in their right mind cuts a stranger in a bar line and then proceeds to argue and try to fight over it? Would he do that in Denver, a more diverse place? Probably not, for as we all know, Denver isnt the best place to mess around. I am a former USMC machine gunner with 2 combat deployments. If I wanted to cause havoc, I could have certainly done it. But I am disciplined and tired of violence. All I wanted was a beer and to sit down and read in peace. You fight in a war for this country and people will still look down on you as a brown man. But what can I expect out of Highlands Ranch. The staff did nothing but watched this drunk man mean mug and try to fight with me. They didn't cut him off; they didn't correct him; they just let him do his thing, which was staring at me from 10 ft away while I tried to grab a beer. They have people out and about - but it's very popular! The new location in centennial is struggling! Having been a follower of the previous business know it's hard to get off the ground. Love the beer selection. I had been looking forward to trying this place for a while. Great environment but was perplexed by the staff. Not overly crowded but the two bartenders were not very attentive. We were there for three hours with repeated moments of my table's glasses and other tables glasses empty. Staff would disappear in back for awkward periods of time. Not sure what was going on. I'd suggest management get that corrected as that was frustrating enough for me to question going back even though the pricing and beer selection was great. What an awesome tap house! These guys know beer. They always have a really great selection. There's something for everyone, even wine drinkers and designated drivers (or kids).
