The chowder & wedge salad were delicious. The Chicken Marsala however, was less than stellar. It was very sweet and I only ate about three bites. When the server finally came back to the table, I told her I didn't care for the dish at all. She took the mostly full plate back & said she'd check with her manager. Nothing was said by her or the management about it-she simply brought the check after dessert. When I looked, they didn't remove it completely from my check-they only took half off. I've had better treatment over a failed dish from chain restaurants. I dined here for the first time as part of a yearly gathering of friends. I will not be back. read more

I'm from Indiana and this was my first visit to Nolan's...my boyfriend insisted that he had to take me. We started off with a very welcoming greeting by Marshall. We ordered two lemon drop martinis which were absolutely fantastic. We then decided that since we were having dessert that we would share a meal, as we usually do because we both don't eat a whole lot. We decided on the Captain's Platter...for starters the shrimp cocktail (one shrimp for each) was perfect and very tasty. The platter came out and presentation was superb. The filet was placed on a bed of sautéed mushrooms, while the lobster tail was placed onto a shredded bed of lettuce complimented with mashed potatoes and butter. When I took the first bite of the filet I seriously had melted and gone to this very beautiful place...my tastebuds were so taken back by how tender, flavorful, and magical this was. I'd never had a filet like this before. We ordered it medium rare which was cooked to perfection! The lobster was very juicy and dipping into the melted butter was very tasty. The mashed potatoes were absolutely amazing! The garlic and creamy taste was pure ecstasy! I had never tasted any potatoes like this ever. Marshall checked in on us and he was an absolute delight. Very attentive, friendly, and at times quite humorous. Definitely would go back to see him and enjoy his kindness and laughter. Lastly we ordered dessert...Marshall gave us the rundown and we chose the Creme brûlée. I honestly have never had a brûlée as exuberantly delicious as this one! The chocolate cup it was served in added an extra special layer to this already amazingly appetizing, palatable sweet! Overall I can't even describe anymore how much I enjoyed this restaurant and it's staff. The woman who I believe was the manager came out and asked how we were which was a lovely touch to our already wonderful experience. Thank you so much for my first visit to Nolan's which was a very welcoming and delectable time a very special and memorable one. read more

Very aloof service ( never offered coffee refill and had to ask) with very average food. We brought our daughter for her birthday because we heard how good Nolan's was, however, we must have hit an off night. I was disappointed for certain. read more

I've never had a bad meal at Nolan's pre-fire or post fire. Took my daughter there for her 21st birthday. The food was excellent. The service was top notch. Kudos to our hostess Brooke. Professional, personable, courteous, and accommodating. She set the tone for the rest of our stay. read more

meal was cold....attitude of employees is " you should feel honored we allowed you to eat here"...dirty bathroom....owner hangs out at the bar--something you expect in a dive bar. Getting a drink at the bar is impossible unless you are a regular or the owner knows you. Find another place to eat OR go and spend too much money for awful arrogant service and bar slug owner and cold food. There is a reason the YELP rating is barley over a 3. Worst thing is the place was built in part with over $400,000 of taxpayer money after it burned down. read more

A Five-Star Evening at Nolan's in Canandaigua! Dinner tonight at Nolan's was nothing short of exceptional. As someone who considers pork chops a personal passion, I can confidently say this was one of the best I've ever had--perfectly cooked, tender, and bursting with flavor. Absolute perfection on a plate. The mushroom caps were a delicious surprise--and the ideal start to the meal. Every bite had us wanting more. Drinks were well-crafted and complemented the meal beautifully, but what truly made the night stand out was the service. Kelly, our server, was amazing--attentive, friendly, and full of great recommendations. She made us feel welcomed and well cared for from the moment we sat down. The restaurant is gorgeous inside. Nolan's delivered on all fronts: food, drinks, and warm hospitality. We'll definitely be back! read more

Nolan's hits every time! So much so that my (now) husband and I had our rehearsal dinner here! When arriving there, we were greeted by polite staff and were escorted to a private party room. There were several tables and a buffet set up in the front of the room. Staff was friendly. There was some confusion in the beginning because at first we were told we could only have beer and wine served to us, but then found out after I asked that we could actually have mixed drinks there as well. When dinner was set up, it sat there for a while and I had to ask if we could get up and get food as well were never told we could start. The spread was a Cesar salad, dinner roll, baked pasta, chicken Parmesan and steak. The food was absolutely delicious. Nothing lacked flavor or was overdone. My favorite items were the Cesar salad and the chicken Parmesan. For dessert, they were kind enough to make sure we had lemon blueberry cheesecake available because it is our favorite. We greatly appreciate the accommodation to get exactly what we wanted. We love coming to Nolan's for date night and will return again! Thank you for making this such a great experience! read more

Always have a great experience here. We stop every year on our way to the lake. Staff is always very friendly and cheerful. Food is always on point. We all enjoyed the scallops, chicken sandwich, Cobb salad, Caesar salad and portobello sandwich. Only complaint is the espresso martini was not good. Does not taste like it has actual espresso. read more

Missed the mark for me. Appetizers and drinks were yummy, but I was disappointed to find my prime rib was served cold. The server took it back to heat it up, but it was returned to me still cold. I was surprised and a bit frustrated by the experience. The hostess did not even check on me. I wished for more empathy and understanding from the staff and more heat from the kitchen. read more

Festive atmosphere. Already for the Christmas holidays!! I thoroughly enjoyed my Twin Lobster Tails with roasted Brussel Sprouts. Hearty meal. My husband had the NY Strip Steak with the Brussel Sprouts as well. We did add al carte side salads. The salad dressings are all homemade. The avocado ranch was amazing. I was surprised that being in Finger Lakes with all these amazing local wineries that 90% of the wines were California wines. All great but why not support local? read more

The food was excellent and our waitress Jasmine was outstanding! Nolan's is our go to restaurant for special occasions.

Came to Canandaigua to see a concert at CMAC and stopped here for dinner before. We had a great experience! The service and food were both great. We started with the stuffed mushrooms (forgot to take a pic!). The sauce on them was fantastic...would definitely order again. My sister got the chicken Marsala, my mom got a steak and I got the muffuletta sandwich special. The chicken dish was huge and there were so many mushrooms. My mom enjoyed her steak, but her baked potato was not cooked enough and was kind of cold. Our only complaint of the night. My sandwich was piled with meat and the olive spread was excellent. We would come back in a heartbeat. The location was super convenient to our hotel and the concert venue. It's not quite 'on the lake' as their website says though. You can get a glimpse of the lake from the back parking lot. So, don't expect to be eating on the water if you dine here. read more

We enjoyed our dinners at Nolan's, and the portions certainly were big enough for leftovers to support a meal, another day. The steak compares with many big name steakhouses in larger cities and the other dishes seem competent be better too. Nolan's also offers topnotch table service, but at their price point the restaurant probably can only be a regular haunt for retirees. read more

I was traveling in the Finger Lakes region of New York and had a craving for Prime Rib. Everyone we spoke to said Nolan's. We there not disappointed. Nolan's Lakeside Snack Shack Have to give a very poor rating to the Beef on Weck sandwich here. It was overcooked meat, served cold, had a side of horseradish SAUCE, lettuce, was definately NOT a Kimmelweck roll, and not dipped in au jus nor was it served on the side. Others in the party had the chicken salad croissant sandwich which was excellent as well as the fantastic hot lobster roll, these would be 5 stars. read more

Nolan's is a beautiful restaurant located next to the Lake House on Canandaigua. We ordered mashed potatoes and seasonal vegetables (steamed broccoli) for my almost one year old, lobster ravioli, and the fish and chips. The baby seemed to enjoy his meal and mom approved. My lobster ravioli was AMAZING! The taste was phenomenal, they didn't skimp on the lobster, and it was well worth the price. The fish and chips though.......not so amazing. The fish was nothing special and had very little flavor. The service was hit or miss. Our server was very kind, but he was literally running around trying to manage everything himself. Overall it was a good experience and I would recommend this restaurant to others. read more

A bug was found in my friends scallop dinner- they substituted another dinner, but still we were charged for it. I was so disgusted I almost could eat my own dinner! Manager came by to ask how things were going, and she said our waitress didnt tell her of our issue and she'll look into it. She never returned. She ignored us as we left after we finished. No one ever apologized. They just pretended it didnt happen. My pork chop was supposed to be medium well, but it came undercooked. I hate that- especially in pork. Also, it had way too much salt. We used to like Nolans, but this time not so much. read more

Had a business meeting in Newark and our hotel was on Lake Canadagua. Decided to try this place out on the first night. Note: word of warning, the menu prices online did not match the menu prices at the restaurant. It was much more expensive at the restaurant. Service was good. Very down to earth and our waitress checked on us regularly. Nice lady. It is a bit pricey: Ordered the following items - Seafood chowder and 12 oz Prime Rib with a Coca Cola. Total adds up to $58.32 plus 11 dollar tip = $69.32 for one. Kinda pricey. Quality of food: I have to say that the seafood chowder was absolutely amazing. It was cooked to perfection. And, you can tell, it was cooked from scratch. Likewise, I cannot complain about the Prime Rib. It was excellent. I would definitely recommend dining here (bit pricey), but the quality and service is very good. read more

We just had an amazing dinner at Nolan's this evening, everything was perfect, my daughter and I loved our Chicken French, it was great! For a drink I usually have wine but felt like having something a little different so I asked for an Italian martini. It wasn't on the menu but the waitress took the time to find out from me what goes into making one and she had the bartender make it for me! It was so good and refreshing, I really enjoyed it along with my meal and visiting with family in this beautiful restaurant with excellent service and ambiance. Thank you! read more

The husband and I had an impromptu, early dinner tonite, our first time at the new Nolan's. We were impressed. Our server, Patrick, was welcoming and attentive to our needs. The complimentary little bread rolls and butter were unique and tasty . Our apps, bacon-wrapped scallops and cheesy garlic bread were both fabulous. Our dinners : him blackened fish fry and mine, the lobster roll ( full of luscious real lobster on a crunchy roll ) were exceptional. The side of basil butter corn ( served fresh off the cob) was a pleasant surprise. Next time, and there will be many, we will save room for dessert . Thanks for the great service and a memorable meal. read more

Had a lovely meal here while in town of pasta, clams, and shrimp. Sat in a roomy booth and luckily had reservations as it was a holiday weekend. We asked about bread as our waiter didn't bring and was then given ample bread w butter, oil, and balsamic which hot and delicious. ( love homemade fresh bread!). No drinks and bill was about $70. If it wasn't so loud I would of given a five star as all the food was delish! read more

Just wanted to add, this extremely disappointing meal came to $330, for four adults, two toddlers, and no dessert.

A really nice local Canandaigua restaurant. Nice bar and patio seating to the one side and a modest dining room to the other. Looks really nice, clean and updated. Service was fantastic. The menu had plenty of nice options- seems steak is a specialty. I selected the pork chop and it was cooked perfectly- juice, tender, great flavor. Decent drat beer and wine menu. I really enjoyed the experience and thought it was fairly priced. read more

I ate at Nolan's for the first time and omg it was very good. The place was very nice, and clean. Our waitress was wonderful. She was very friendly. I ordered the Filet Mignon with a loaded baked potato and lobster tail. The filet was cooked perfectly and seasoned very well. The baked potato had real bacon on it not bacon bits which was great. They put my butter and sour cream on the side, which was nice so I can decide how much I want on it. The lobster tail was good size and very tasty. It came with a side of melted butter. The manager Debbie was very nice. Before we even noticed, she explained that one of our meals went to another table so she was having the chef remake all our entrees. She offered us each a complimentary drink or dessert. We all felt this was very generous and showed how much this business cared about their customers. I chose the carrot cake. It was very good. The cake was moist and the cream cheese frosting was delicious. We can't wait to go back. read more

Suggested by Trip Advisor and others. I had the broiled seafood combo. The entire plate was swimming in water (not a sauce). Despite this, the medium size shrimp was dry and flavorless, the 2 1/2 very small scallops were served in a sea scallop shell that made me wish for the scallop that might have been in this large shell, the fish fillet was hot and pretty good. My sides were smashed potatoes, which might moonlight as grout and fresh asparagus which was excellent. Credit for saving the meal, asparagus! Spouse had similar underwhelming plate. Heard several diners complain about steaks not cooked as ordered and waitress unwilling to redo. Nice looking place inside and out and seems very popular, but don't know why. read more

Enjoyed dinner with friends on a busy Sunday evening. We had a nice booth in the bar and the noise level was energetic but we were able to talk comfortably. The bacon wrapped scallops were outstanding and were perfect with my martini. Two of us had the chicken Marsala which is a perfect portion, very flavorful and the chicken was moist and tender. The other person in our party had NY strip and he said it was excellent. Nice vibe here and great mix of patrons--wide variety of ages and several families. Outdoor dining is available and it has a good sized parking lot with city parking available nearby. Our server, Patty, was competent and friendly without being overbearing. Was a good experience from walking through the door. It was nice to have a dedicated hostess. Sat in the open area to the left. Ambience was bright and airy and not to loud. Bread was good and the butter concoction was a nice addition to punch it up a little. Steak was tender and juicy, Cesar salad was tossed in dressing instead of a drizzle over top. Lobster roll had a generous amount of meat. Would definitely go again. read more

A delicious dinner outdoors at Nolan's was a great way to end the day mid week before heading out on the water. The salmon pomodoro, evening special, seared salmon finished in a sun dried tomato chorizo blush sauce, was amazing! The sweet potato fries complimented this salmon dish. We were looking for restaurants on the when the search gave us this place, we decided to try it based on being by the water and the reviews. First off, NOT on water. The water view is a smidgen of lake you can see between whatever buildings you're looking at and that's only if you're on patio. As for food, we had the soup. De jour( asparagus/bacon & the seafood chowder. Both are good. Appetizers of. Meatballs and special fried green tomatoes. caprese. Too much cheese on tomatoes but the sauce was good. Meatballs were very good. Desert of creme brulee in chocolate shell was the best part of meal. Cocktails were made well, and service was good. It was busy for a Wednesday. Reservations a must. Especially if you would like a view of that smidgen of the lake in the patio. read more

Special lunch salad consisted of field greens, 5 peach slices, watery cheese, and 6 candied walnuts, with crumbled bacon. Charge was $27.50, the most expensive salad I have ever ordered. Waitress did not tell us the price ahead of time. She was very unpleasant, and I had to ask her for a glass of ice for my wine, 5 times. Each time I was met with a glare like I was asking for something special. Waitress did not tell us her name, but very unfriendly. Coming from out of town, I will not be back. read more
