Made a reservation on Open Table and arrived 15 mins early because we thought it would take longer to walk over, but they graciously seated us. I'm not sure if we sat in the bar section or if the whole place has TVs, but it had a casual atmosphere. We started with the loaded potato puffs which were very good and really enjoyed the honey butter that came with the rolls. I had the special salmon with pesto risotto, and the piece of salmon was huge and everything was good. Knocked it out of the park. Our favorite date night spot to date, and we've been to many restaurants in the past few months! Everything was perfect, from the service to the food. I had reservations which I made a couple days prior. We were sat in the bar area, but didn't mind at all. I could tell that we had made one of the last available reservations so I'm not surprised it was a bar area table. Our server was friendly and on point with everything. I went with the Prime Rib and my boyfriend got the Captain's platter which was a Filet and lobster tail. He started with a wedge salad and I started with the seafood chowder. The food was delicious!! Everything was perfectly cooked and seasoned and perfectly portioned. My prime rib was one of the best pieces of prime rib I've ever had. The manager Debbie stopped by to ask how everything was and chat with us a bit - she was genuine, friendly, and attentive. We really enjoyed chatting with her! I tried a couple of the wines which came as a generous pour. The red blend was especially nice. We can't wait to return next time we are in the area, everything was perfect. read more

Went here for a nice family dinner over the long Thanksgiving weekend, and the food was some of the best I've had. The service was fast and friendly. Hats off to the waitress for being humorous and engaging as she read off the specials! I ordered the Salmon Diablo which consisted of asparagus risotto topped with salmon and a balsamic reduction. There was just a slight hint of spice, and this elevated the dish to the next level. I paired with a cranberry mule for a food coma experience I don't regret. I recommend ending the night with dessert. A few of the items are from local Canandaigua places, including the raspberry cheesecake we indulged in. Although the menu is on the pricier end, Nolan's is worth a trip for a good meal. read more

We went to Nolan's for late lunch. We requested seating on the "porch" and asked if we were too late to be served (it was about 2:40 pm on Thursday). Hostess assured us we would be served if we ordered in next 10-15 minutes. Our server, Debbie, reviewed the specials, was very attentive taking our order, and checked back with us frequently. Our meal was excellent, portions satisfying (I took half my Rubin sandwich home). Overall food, service and atmosphere were excellent. Super busy on a Monday night... but the bar was comfy to wait at until our table was ready. Once seated we were told that our server had a whole bunch of tables that were just seated and it would take a while... but she came over to greet us within a few minutes. We shared the chopped salad from the specials menu as a starter. It was huge and yummy with chopped romaine and iceberg lettuce, tomatoes, red onion, roasted red peppers, salami, olives, parmesan cheese, and a light vinaigrette. The chickpeas that were supposed to be included were sadly omitted. For an entree we shared the chicken parmesan with a side of linguini. Two huge boneless chicken breast pieces were pounded nice and flat, breaded, and fried to perfection before being baked with tasty tomato sauce and lots of cheese. The side of pasta was obviously pre-cooked and reheated, but it was tasty nonetheless. And the portion size was plenty for two to share. For dessert we ordered a slice of key lime pie (yes... to share). It was returned after one bite (and thankfully removed from the check) because it tasted rancid. It was also weirdly topped with a little spray of canned whipped cream and a dollop of non-dairy whipped topping. Strange! Overall a few glitches... but still a decent meal with friendly service. read more

We ate here twice on a recent vacation in Canandaigua. One takeout, one dine in. Most of our party really liked their food, but I was underwhelmed, especially considering their reputation and the cost. I had the scallops, which were so salty they practically burned my mouth. Tastes of other people's food confirmed that most of it was very heavily salted, but apparently they liked that. I can't say there is much nuance to the flavor if you have to salt everything so much. I would not go back, but I'm giving it 4 stars for excellent service, a nice atmosphere, and the fact that several of our party would have given it 5 stars. I would only have given 3. read more

Had a really nice experience here on a very busy Tuesday night. We walked over from the hotel and it was nicely pathed and easy to reach. We did have to wait about 10 min for our reserved table but that was fine. Really good service and our waitress and bus-person were attentive. Such a great variety of food to choose from. We started with calamari and it was a HUGE platter to share with some marinara sauce and lemon broth. Three of us had Cobb Salads with grilled shrimp and the 4th had a Greek Bowl (the special). We were there on August 27, 2024. It was our first time. It was tremendous and definately will return. Had the sheridan ( french dip) that was amazing and a lobster Louie (whole avocado split in half, with huge scoops of lobster on each avocado half, and a spicy creme sauce. It was tremendous. Worst Thanksgiving meal I've ever had. They clearly ordered these meals prepared from some company like Sysco and just passed them on to the customer. It was like the worst quality cafeteria food you could imagine. Everything was bland and extremely salty. The stuffing tasted like it came from a box. The gravy tasted like it came from a can. I'd never eaten at Nolan's before, and if we liked the meal we were going to plan going to a dinner there, but I won't be visiting anytime soon. Have no idea about the presentation, or quality of food, but I do know that the entitiled one at the front desk should really put a smile on her face and at least look at you when she's talking to you. We were greeted immediately and our reservations were honored promptly. Our server, Marshall, was personable and relaxed, informed us of the specials, and took our drink order. We both chose the Captains Platter which is a filet and lobster. When you consider it includes shrimp cocktail (large 2 pieces), salad, and entree, the price is justified and fair. Everything was prepared perfectly and service was outstanding. A big plus for Nolans is that they are open Mondays for dinner; not too many Canandaigua restaurants can do this as they are struggling to get enough help. read more

This is a go-to place for us. Everything from a Mother's Day brunch to a Sunday afternoon lunch. On this Sunday afternoon we had a Pub Burger and a Lobster Roll. I'll get to the Pub Burger in a minute but "just so you know" we had been in Maine earlier in the week and lobster was on the menu there as well. Nolan's Lobster roll (at $28) had more lobster, better quality, and a much lower price than at least one place on the ocean in Maine. Who would have thought! It wasn't a New England style toasted roll but it was a nice large toasted roll chock full of nothing but lobster. Melted butter was on the side along with coleslaw and Nolan's "really good" fries. Now the Pub burger - ordered medium rare and delivered medium rare. A good size on a nice roll served with lettuce and tomato as well as Nolan's "really good" fries. It's a busy place so make a reservation or plan to wait around a bit during prime times. read more

My family of 11 went to Nolan's while vacationing in the Finger Lakes. A beautiful scenic location on the Canandaigua Lake. We sat at a large table that gave us plenty of space. The service was perfect and the staff was attentive and friendly. We ordered many of the different cocktails they have in the menu - I had the blackberry Margarita-oh so good. I ordered bacon wrapped scallops and the Fish stew as appetizers. Others had salad (very nice portion) the clam chowder, and shrimp cocktail. All were very good size and tasty. For an entree I ordered the Lobster ravioli - so so good. And big portion ! Others had the Filet Oscar, the Nolan Burger and the Captains Platter. All of the entrees were prepared just right ! Service tonight was very below satisfactory. Very un-interested server with a "i don't give a crap attitude". Ordered chix marsala with a Side of sauteed spinach. Dish came out with one lame piece of chx breast pounded out naked on top of spinach in a pool of brown water. One or two mushrooms. Mentioned the quality of dish to server, didn't care again. Got the bill: $28 for this meal is disgusting. Asked server about that, again no care attitude. Will not be back. Food is very low quality and low quantity. $28 I could have cooked for five at home. Please consider other area restaurants in the Canandaigua area first. Arrived with my party of 9 that we made reservations with. Hostess stated we didn't have a reservation. We asked if they could accommodate and if not we understood and would dine elsewhere. They stated they could accommodate however we could not side together, so ok. Then they seated us at complete opposite sides of the restaurant when we could of had two booths back to back. No one dined next to us or the other half of our party until the last 5 minutes of eating. The hostess Tonya was very rude and treated us like adolescent children. The meal itself was nothing to write home about either. The chicken was dry, the scallops were laying in oil, and the shrimp appetizer looked like it came right from the local Wegmans. First time back since the fire and very impressed! The bar area is dim and cozy with a raised seating area across from it. Nice touch for those who want to sit at the tables and still have a good view of the bar area and the games on the multiple TV's. The main dining area as spacious and nicely decorated. Love the fireplace! Even the overflow dining area is really nice with big windows along two sides. We were there for Black Thursday (AKA Valentine's day) so the restaurant and bar were both crowded... yet service remainded exceptional. The bartender was efficient and pleasant and our server was great despite what must've been a long evening for her. Great job! I had a wedge salad with a house made gorgonzola dressing. So good I hardly needed any main course.... But I ordered an 8 ounce filet anyway. Perfectly cooked medium rare and nicely seasoned. I've spent a lot more for steaks that weren't nearly as good. The cinnamon seasoned sweet potato wedges were a great complement to the steak. I didn't indulge in desert but my friend got the peanut butter pie. Smooth, not too rich with Oreo crust, drizzled with chocolate and caramel and topped with whipped cream. I would post the picture of KM licking the fork but would likely get into trouble for that. All in all a great experience. Looking forward to to returning for another wedge... Maybe with a little filet on the side. One quick note to the other patrons... Just because you got a new bottle of perfume for Black Thursday does not mean that you have to use it all at once. A little goes a long way. read more

We went there to celebrate our 100 year old grandfather. Service was good, but food was NOT! Out of the 9 of us only 1 said it was exceptable. $40 filet mignon tasted like it was burnt, all the fries were SUPER over salty, chicken parm was mostly breading with a real thin piece of chicken inside and the shrimp and broccoli tossed with penne in a vodka-cream sauce was mostly pasta. My husband and I made reservations for dinner tonight to celebrate our 44th wedding anniversary and as usual, we weren't disappointed. The meal, service and ambiance were exceptional. Our waiter/server "Marshall" was great and we had the pleasure of meeting one of the owners, "Nick" as he made his rounds checking on his guests. Every time we dine here we are not disappointed. If you're in the Fingerlakes, especially in the busy summertime, make sure you make a reservation. You won't be disappointed. So grateful we have such a nice place to dine in Canandaigua. read more

Nolan's has definitely evolved over the years. We are big fans of their lobster rolls. The Captains platter can be enough for 2 people. It includes an 8oz filet mignon cooked to order. We usually get medium rare and it is perfectly cooked. You have a choice of 6oz lobster tail or broiled scallops. If sharing you might opt for adding both. A side and salad is also included. I think they do the best making my favorite drink...amaretto sour. read more

The last time we were there, I would have given this place a 4.5. Tonight, 2.7-3.0. Had to ask for our waitress to come to our table after 15 mins of not seeing her. The first order of corn fritters the came were burnt on the outside and RAW on the inside. The second order that came were cooked on the inside but still burnt on the outside/ looked nothing like the picture. The wedge salad was very watery.... There was a spray bottle and rag sitting in my eye sight in the floor next to a Buffalo Bills sign, which I moved the BB sign so I wouldn't have to see the the bottle and rag. A used napkin laid on the floor from a previous diner until 45 minutes into our dinner, when an owner picked it up off the floor.Our main courses were very good but the hospitality and service really sucked this time. read more

The food was actually very tasty - the pork chop was cooked to perfection and the burger was really good. I would have loved to give it 5 stars but they forgot the side salad and did not adhere to the no dairy I input in the requests. The pork chop came atop cheesy cauliflower. While I didn't eat the cauliflower, the pork chop was right on top of it for our ride home so the pork chop tasted like cheddar cheese to me and I can't have any dairy. I'd get it again, but probably would call and stress the allergy instead of ordering online. read more
