We have been to Nolan's a couple times now since moving to Canandaigua. First visit would lead to an order of the entree sized Cobb salad with choice of extra protein, chicken, shrimp or steak. The sale was massive and the taste matched! Yum! I did oil and vinegar but of course there was an array of dressings to suit any taste! Second visit led to the Filet Mignon with garlic smashed potatoes! The filet literally melted in my mouth! So tender and delicious! Service was excellent! The one thing I would do differently is to add a seasonal veggie with the entree, Asparagus or similar. Presentation was not that great with a slab of meat and plop of potatoes on the plate. Something to consider as presentation of costly food in a beautiful atmosphere will be remembered. When I say costly, I mean because the market price of excellent cuts of beef and seafood is always going to be more expensive. Overall the menu is very reasonable and if you don't leave full, congrats or I'm sorry. You can walk along the lakefront or into the park to aid in digestion when the weather permits . read more

Went for lunch just recently. Great Service and excellent meals. French Onion soup was perfect! Not too salty. My wife had the coconut shrimp and I had the farm style salad. Excellent. Though expensive you get what you paid for.Top notch. Would go there definitely for the holidays! This year had a grinch theme. But none of staff where nasty. read more

A wonderful night out while my wife and I visited Palmyra. Great ambiance and food. I love the lobster ravioli.

I haven't been here since they moved to South Main Street...I have been to Nolan's on lakeshore a few times, but not since 2013. My brother was a cook for a few yrs around 2005. Every time that I've been here I enjoyed the food and the service. Everyone I've talked to that eats there likes it. The last time I was there in 2013 was for a baby shower. We were in a party room, which was nice clean. The staff was friendly. We were taken very well care of. I don't know if they have a room at their new location on S. Main St. I would've recommended it 10 years ago but I haven't been there recently, so I'm not sure, how well the food and service is now. Although, every time I drive by, the parking lot is packed, so I'm guessing it is just as good as it was 10 years ago. read more

Beautiful place and great service; but absolutely overpriced and underserved. You can't go to this place for the food. I order the lamb and it was burnt. The space on the other hand is incredible beautiful and the staff very amicable. read more

Went here for a nice family dinner over the long Thanksgiving weekend, and the food was some of the best I've had. The service was fast and friendly. Hats off to the waitress for being humorous and engaging as she read off the specials! I ordered the Salmon Diablo which consisted of asparagus risotto topped with salmon and a balsamic reduction. There was just a slight hint of spice, and this elevated the dish to the next level. I paired with a cranberry mule for a food coma experience I don't regret. I recommend ending the night with dessert. A few of the items are from local Canandaigua places, including the raspberry cheesecake we indulged in. Although the menu is on the pricier end, Nolan's is worth a trip for a good meal. read more

Knocked it out of the park. Our favorite date night spot to date, and we've been to many restaurants in the past few months! Everything was perfect, from the service to the food. I had reservations which I made a couple days prior. We were sat in the bar area, but didn't mind at all. I could tell that we had made one of the last available reservations so I'm not surprised it was a bar area table. Our server was friendly and on point with everything. I went with the Prime Rib and my boyfriend got the Captain's platter which was a Filet and lobster tail. He started with a wedge salad and I started with the seafood chowder. The food was delicious!! Everything was perfectly cooked and seasoned and perfectly portioned. My prime rib was one of the best pieces of prime rib I've ever had. The manager Debbie stopped by to ask how everything was and chat with us a bit - she was genuine, friendly, and attentive. We really enjoyed chatting with her! I tried a couple of the wines which came as a generous pour. The red blend was especially nice. We can't wait to return next time we are in the area, everything was perfect. read more

Made a reservation on Open Table and arrived 15 mins early because we thought it would take longer to walk over, but they graciously seated us. I'm not sure if we sat in the bar section or if the whole place has TVs, but it had a casual atmosphere. We started with the loaded potato puffs which were very good and really enjoyed the honey butter that came with the rolls. I had the special salmon with pesto risotto, and the piece of salmon was huge and everything was good. We had great service, and you can choose to scan the receipt and pay on your phone when you're done. read more

Super busy on a Monday night... but the bar was comfy to wait at until our table was ready. Once seated we were told that our server had a whole bunch of tables that were just seated and it would take a while... but she came over to greet us within a few minutes. We shared the chopped salad from the specials menu as a starter. It was huge and yummy with chopped romaine and iceberg lettuce, tomatoes, red onion, roasted red peppers, salami, olives, parmesan cheese, and a light vinaigrette. The chickpeas that were supposed to be included were sadly omitted. For an entree we shared the chicken parmesan with a side of linguini. Two huge boneless chicken breast pieces were pounded nice and flat, breaded, and fried to perfection before being baked with tasty tomato sauce and lots of cheese. The side of pasta was obviously pre-cooked and reheated, but it was tasty nonetheless. And the portion size was plenty for two to share. For dessert we ordered a slice of key lime pie (yes... to share). It was returned after one bite (and thankfully removed from the check) because it tasted rancid. It was also weirdly topped with a little spray of canned whipped cream and a dollop of non-dairy whipped topping. Strange! Overall a few glitches... but still a decent meal with friendly service. read more

I didn't expect to pay $33 for a lunch with a small piece of chicken and canned corn. No beverage and no dessert. Service was just ok with rolls served after meal was done. I won't be back nor will the women I had lunch with. It's too bad because I had previously enjoyed eatin at Nolans. read more

We went to Nolan's for late lunch. We requested seating on the "porch" and asked if we were too late to be served (it was about 2:40 pm on Thursday). Hostess assured us we would be served if we ordered in next 10-15 minutes. Our server, Debbie, reviewed the specials, was very attentive taking our order, and checked back with us frequently. Our meal was excellent, portions satisfying (I took half my Rubin sandwich home). Overall food, service and atmosphere were excellent. We choose Nolan's often when in the area and have never been disappointed. Thank you again for enjoyable lunch experience! read more

Very disappointed they raised prices OVER 30% Have been to dozens of places and None felt so entitled to raise prices to an insane level Additionally they also reduced their portions So it's a double slap in the face Basically this establishment feels they can stick it to you anyway they choose: Wasn't cheap before Now it's a JOKE best of luck I'll goto Roses for a very high end high quality experience and pay the same prices with EXCELLENT service read more

A great option in Canandaigua for casual dining. Wait staff were attentive and our lunch items were tasty. Nothing fancy but a good spot.

Had a really nice experience here on a very busy Tuesday night. We walked over from the hotel and it was nicely pathed and easy to reach. We did have to wait about 10 min for our reserved table but that was fine. Really good service and our waitress and bus-person were attentive. Such a great variety of food to choose from. We started with calamari and it was a HUGE platter to share with some marinara sauce and lemon broth. Three of us had Cobb Salads with grilled shrimp and the 4th had a Greek Bowl (the special). Yummy and I ate all of it! Will go back again for sure. read more

We ate here twice on a recent vacation in Canandaigua. One takeout, one dine in. Most of our party really liked their food, but I was underwhelmed, especially considering their reputation and the cost. I had the scallops, which were so salty they practically burned my mouth. Tastes of other people's food confirmed that most of it was very heavily salted, but apparently they liked that. I can't say there is much nuance to the flavor if you have to salt everything so much. I would not go back, but I'm giving it 4 stars for excellent service, a nice atmosphere, and the fact that several of our party would have given it 5 stars. I would only have given 3. read more

Had a catered lunch from here. Sick for two days after the wildly over-buttered lobster roll.

We were greeted immediately and our reservations were honored promptly. Our server, Marshall, was personable and relaxed, informed us of the specials, and took our drink order. We both chose the Captains Platter which is a filet and lobster. When you consider it includes shrimp cocktail (large 2 pieces), salad, and entree, the price is justified and fair. Everything was prepared perfectly and service was outstanding. A big plus for Nolans is that they are open Mondays for dinner; not too many Canandaigua restaurants can do this as they are struggling to get enough help. read more

Worst Thanksgiving meal I've ever had. They clearly ordered these meals prepared from some company like Sysco and just passed them on to the customer. It was like the worst quality cafeteria food you could imagine. Everything was bland and extremely salty. The stuffing tasted like it came from a box. The gravy tasted like it came from a can. I'd never eaten at Nolan's before, and if we liked the meal we were going to plan going to a dinner there, but I won't be visiting anytime soon. Terrible experience that ruined our holiday. read more

They were very accommodating. Everything made to order so leaving off bacon was no problem. Service was prompt, friendly and efficient. Food was delicious and portions were good. This is a go-to place for us. Everything from a Mother's Day brunch to a Sunday afternoon lunch. On this Sunday afternoon we had a Pub Burger and a Lobster Roll. I'll get to the Pub Burger in a minute but "just so you know" we had been in Maine earlier in the week and lobster was on the menu there as well. Nolan's Lobster roll (at $28) had more lobster, better quality, and a much lower price than at least one place on the ocean in Maine. Who would have thought! It wasn't a New England style toasted roll but it was a nice large toasted roll chock full of nothing but lobster. Melted butter was on the side along with coleslaw and Nolan's "really good" fries. Now the Pub burger - ordered medium rare and delivered medium rare. A good size on a nice roll served with lettuce and tomato as well as Nolan's "really good" fries. It's a busy place so make a reservation or plan to wait around a bit during prime times. read more

First time back since the fire and very impressed! The bar area is dim and cozy with a raised seating area across from it. Nice touch for those who want to sit at the tables and still have a good view of the bar area and the games on the multiple TV's. The main dining area as spacious and nicely decorated. Love the fireplace! Even the overflow dining area is really nice with big windows along two sides. We were there for Black Thursday (AKA Valentine's day) so the restaurant and bar were both crowded... yet service remainded exceptional. The bartender was efficient and pleasant and our server was great despite what must've been a long evening for her. Great job! I had a wedge salad with a house made gorgonzola dressing. So good I hardly needed any main course.... But I ordered an 8 ounce filet anyway. Perfectly cooked medium rare and nicely seasoned. I've spent a lot more for steaks that weren't nearly as good. The cinnamon seasoned sweet potato wedges were a great complement to the steak. I didn't indulge in desert but my friend got the peanut butter pie. Smooth, not too rich with Oreo crust, drizzled with chocolate and caramel and topped with whipped cream. I would post the picture of KM licking the fork but would likely get into trouble for that. All in all a great experience. Looking forward to to returning for another wedge... Maybe with a little filet on the side. One quick note to the other patrons... Just because you got a new bottle of perfume for Black Thursday does not mean that you have to use it all at once. A little goes a long way. read more

We were there on August 27, 2024. It was our first time. It was tremendous and definately will return. Had the sheridan ( french dip) that was amazing and a lobster Louie (whole avocado split in half, with huge scoops of lobster on each avocado half, and a spicy creme sauce. It was tremendous. Debbie R was our waitress and she was tremendous. Always checking in with us. To top it off, a peach crumb pie was amazing. Nolaans is now our favorite place. Thank you. read more

My family of 11 went to Nolan's while vacationing in the Finger Lakes. A beautiful scenic location on the Canandaigua Lake. We sat at a large table that gave us plenty of space. The service was perfect and the staff was attentive and friendly. We ordered many of the different cocktails they have in the menu - I had the blackberry Margarita-oh so good. I ordered bacon wrapped scallops and the Fish stew as appetizers. Others had salad (very nice portion) the clam chowder, and shrimp cocktail. All were very good size and tasty. For an entree I ordered the Lobster ravioli - so so good. And big portion ! Others had the Filet Oscar, the Nolan Burger and the Captains Platter. All of the entrees were prepared just right ! I would highly recommend Nolan's !! read more

Nolan's has definitely evolved over the years. We are big fans of their lobster rolls. The Captains platter can be enough for 2 people. It includes an 8oz filet mignon cooked to order. We usually get medium rare and it is perfectly cooked. You have a choice of 6oz lobster tail or broiled scallops. If sharing you might opt for adding both. A side and salad is also included. I think they do the best making my favorite drink...amaretto sour. read more

Service tonight was very below satisfactory. Very un-interested server with a "i don't give a crap attitude". Ordered chix marsala with a Side of sauteed spinach. Dish came out with one lame piece of chx breast pounded out naked on top of spinach in a pool of brown water. One or two mushrooms. Mentioned the quality of dish to server, didn't care again. Got the bill: $28 for this meal is disgusting. Asked server about that, again no care attitude. Will not be back. Food is very low quality and low quantity. $28 I could have cooked for five at home. Ba bye Nolans. No more money for you to serve low quality dishes and not give a dam. read more
