What happened to this place? I just visited for the first time in a dozen years. The interior is the same as it was 50 years ago when I was in junior high, same dark wood booths, same pizza making window, same everything else. But the pizzas have changed. Using chunk sausage instead of crumble on their deep dish. Putting ingredients under the cheese for the handtossed, and then burying the whole thing in way too much cheese. Fairly mediocre pies, and quite expensive. (I paid $100 for three pizzas and two orders of breadsticks--ridiculous!) Something's changed in their recipes, and not for the better. The original!!! This place has been around forever- I remember going here as a kid in the 70's. I was back in town about a week ago, so I stopped in- nothing has changed! The wooden walls, the mirrors, the lamps, the jukebox... even the little pizza viewing window for kids is still there! Why do you pick and choose who gets a server? I was told to take a ticket and a server would come. She NEVER CAME TO THE TABLE ONCE. All the other guests were served before and after us. After asking for service I still never got served. We had to get our own cups, drinks, salad bar plates and even go get our pizza. Every one else was served. WHY WHY, I was told oh well sometimes mistakes are made, oh lucky me. Still no service, we finally got our own boxes and left. This is a childhood favorite for my SO, we made a special detour on our trip to go get a nostalgia boost. This pizza was every bit as good as he told me it would be! The pizza making station with the viewing area for little kids to the classic lamp shades over the tables. It was a 10 out of 10 for nostalgia. The deep dish pizza was a huge let down. The outer edge was badly burnt and tasted bad. I love a good Neapolitan pizza with the charred bubbles in the crust. This was not A nice char, it was a very unpleasant taste that is hard to describe. I was determined to like the pizza so I avoided the edges after the first 2 slices. The deep dish dough was lacking in flavor and just wasn't good. This independently owned Noble Roman's is nostalgic for me and my family. My kids grew up in the Ben Davis school district and we spent a lot of time here after games and school events. The interior hasn't changed much so it still feels like stepping back in time. The lighting is low and the majority of the seating is dark wood booths with a few tables in the back. If you have little one's they'll most likely love watching pizza's being made with steps along the window for better viewing. Over the years, when my kids were little they spent hours watching pizzas being made. A kids menu is available for those under 12. We love the personal pizzas as well as the Deep Dish Sicilian Pizza and the Breadsticks are our favorites. In addition to the Sicilian style Pizza you can get a Hand-Tossed or the Monster with a thick crust, extra cheese and toppings. The salad bar is currently closed due to the pandemic but when open it isn't huge but offered a decent salad bar. If your looking for a sandwich there's the Sausage or Beef Stromboli's, Ham & Cheese and a Veggie Sandwich. My son enjoys the Pizza Bombs which is a personal stuffed Pizza loaded with sausage, pepperoni and cheese. They also offer a Spinach Bomb loaded with spinach, mushrooms and cheese. We love wings and often order the Hot & Spicy Buffalo Wings with our personal pan pizzas or large Sicilian. They seem to go well with pizza. Barbecue flavored wings are also available. The lunch value meals all run under $10 and you have the option of a Pizza Bomb, Pan One Pizza or Salad Bar with breadsticks and soft drink. Beer and wine are available, too. This is Noble Roman's as I remember it in its entirety. I went to Noble Roman's (but not this location) when I was a kid and so we took our kids over the weekend. They still have the stairs for the kids to watch and they still have classic arcade games including Pac Man. The pizza quality is as it always was -- which is a little sweeter and more sauce than I prefer now as an adult -- so the kids loved it. The breadsticks are that old school style that are now only found here and at Pizza King.
