So the stars of this salon are CJ and Stacey. In fact the 2 stars solely belong to them. Friendly, sincere and sweet. The owner is incredibly rude, nasty and ornery. Terrible tone while speaking to others. My first impression of this salon was the owner's crappy attitude. I was met with a dry and annoyed hello and than was snapped at to go wash my hands in their bathroom. (Never been to this salon before so I don't know where anything is located). Thank God for CJ because had she not spoke up I would've left the salon and took my business elsewhere. I allowed the owner's dumpster attitude to effect my mood to where I completely disengaged. Once she left for the day I was able to connect with my stylist like I NORMALLY do anytime I get my hair done at a salon. I've been a regular here since 2019, but my last visit with Aaniah was a total letdown. I came to get some small/medium kinky twists, but the result? Not even close to professional standards especially the front section which was seriously lacking the fullness I was expecting on. Compared it to the pics on the website and it was a world of difference. For the price I paid, I was expecting a better work. I have done with style on MYSELF before and I did a way better job than a so-called "professional." After this experience I wouldn't recommend this spot to anyone. My most recent visit to Natural Trendzetter was bad and the customer service follow-up was really bad.I wanted to get 5 French braids (under braided). The owner, Renee told me to choose 5 "cornrows" from their menu and enter under braids in the comments. I did. I arrived at the salon only to be told by the selected stylist, Dominique, that she dis not know how to do French braids and that she NEVER reads the comments. I was disappointed and told her so but had wasted the time and allowed her to just braid 5 feed in cornrows. On first glance, I noticed some of the added hair sticking out. The stylist clipped that spot. What I didn't know until I got home was that there was other hair in the bun sticking out and she used a gel that turned white after drying. I contacted owner, Renee who said the stylist didn't finish the ends because I was "just going to wear it in a bun". While examining my hair closer, I saw white patches on my scalp and chalky white stuff in my hair. It was disgusting Renee said, "it's probably the gel". I was angry by now and started taking it down to wash the gel out of my hair. I told her that I wanted a refund of my $80. She said they "don't give refunds". They fix it. I said I didn't have time to go back plus the stylist did not have the skills to French braid! After two days, I went to Essence of Hair where owner, Dionne, French braided my hair like I requested. This was one of the BEST salon experiences I've had in life! I was referred to Renee by a coworker. Her site wasn't showing availability for the next week. When I called to confirm, she found time to squeeze me in! That was the first sign of great customer service. I drove over an hour, sat in hella traffic (due to the bridge collapse) and I'm sure I passed a billion salons along the way, but when I TELL you it was worth it! I can see why this place has so many positive reviews. It was easy to book an appointment online, which is super helpful. The salon is small & intimate, and very comfy & clean. Renee had a few other clients, which is clearly why she changed my appt time, but she juggled us pretty well. I feel like Renee talked to me along the way, but I guess she wasn't fully hearing me. I had to do this review for anyone looking for a short cut (TWA) like mine. I was not happy. Having recently had a bad experience with a style I requested not coming out right, I made a point to be very clear with Renee about what I wanted. I even tried to tell her my hair woes, but she didn't seem to care much. My hair not only looks nothing like the picture I showed her, but the top of my hair was cut when I distinctly asked her twice not to do that, and the sides were barely cut at all until I asked her to shave more. I actually cried about the top of my hair because I wanted a fuller top, and I had recently gotten highlights that are now mostly gone. The pic I showed her had a full top and low cut sides, so imagine my confusion there. During the cut, I could feel the clippers nick my neck with every motion as she shaved DOWN the back of my head. I never had anyone shave my head in a downward motion, but I'm not the professional here. I didn't realize until days later that I have a burn and a thin scar going across the back of my neck. This was supposed to be my birthday/vacation hair and I walked out so upset. She didn't style it, which I did not expect so I also left looking incomplete. I didn't even see an option on the site for a style, so I didn't know I needed to add that. I asked questions before my appt, so it could have been a chance to clarify further, but nope. Many people asked me why I paid, especially when my top was cut. It's a great question, but I'm not confrontational and I knew I could rock it anyway; it's not like she could glue the hair back on. I wasn't trying to cause a scene and I tried to be optimistic, but the way the back of my neck looks right now is NOT OK. I'm not sure how I keep having people do my hair when they aren't sure what to do. When I spoke to Renee a couple days before my appointment I asked if I needed to tell her anything or show what I wanted, and she said "no," so I trusted her confidence, along with these glowing reviews. This conversation also could have been a chance to clarify that I wanted my hair styled, and she could have let me know to modify my request, but nope. I can say that my experience was pretty consistent with the other reviews, however, there was a slight drag between my appointment time and the time my hair actually got started. I was searching for a stylist that would style my hair in its coiled natural state, vs. just straighten it. I've gotten comfortable enough with Renee to try some different styles and I'm never left disappointed. I constantly get compliments on my hairstyles - from Mohawks with 2 strand twists in the middle, to crochet braids, to individual braids - Renee keeps me looking right! I've never experienced pain when she braids my hair, and my edges remain in tact. She also provides advice on products to use on my hair. I truly appreciate her knowledge, flexibility, and expertise. The shop is clean, comfortable and friendly. I LOVE the fact that Renee doesn't book multiple clients at the same time . My appointment is my appointment - I'm not sharing with 2-3 other people. At most, I've waited 15 minutes for her to finish with another client, but that's more of the exception than the rule. I'm extremely picky about my hair - can't believe I was lucky enough to find a stylist in my new city on my first try. This review is long overdue. I've been going to Natural Trendzetter (Renée) for years and have gotten nothing but great service. My cornrows (with or without extensions) are never tight on my scalp, but stay neat for weeks (even after swimming). She is very creative with styling and she'll let you know if there are going to be changes to a style you request. read more

if i could give a huge zero for this place i would!! i received the woosah service from conqhetta, little did i know i'd be leaving with my beautiful thick natural hair short and shorn. please someone take the scissors away from her. she showed up extremely late for the appointment. made no effort to talk to me. was extremely rough handling my hair. she gave no professional advice and commentary on my hair, even though they force you to fill out a long sheet of what your hair regimen and hair goals are. then insulted my personal routine before i left. she told me i needed a trim every 2 weeks (i had to ask her for her thoughts btw), which is ridiculous and sounded like a scam. if it were up to her i'd be bald and broke. never ever going back there. now my hair is severely uneven and significantly less dense. please save yourself the heartache i'm going through. read more

I liked the ease of booking the appointment online. I promptly received a confirmation email and the next day I received an appointment reminder. The service I receive was the flat twist combo. Renee was very sweet, pleasant, and down to business. She is very talented and professional. She started on time, and she twisted my hair up fast, the longest part was sitting under the dryer. She asked me how I wanted my style, and I told her I didn't have an preference and to make it look nice, and she went over and beyond. I am happy with the service. Her prices are not bad, but I wasn't expecting to pay what I did for the service. I guess it will be worth it if my style will last for 3-5 weeks. She also gives out discounts for first time clients. I went to this salon for a big chop so I could donate my hair to two charities. The person that performed the chop was rude and sarcastic with everything that I said while making small conversation. She wet may hair to cut it and had little care in the hair that was going to be donated by just handing it to me wet and in different lengths. With the length of my hair, I was only able to donate 1 bundled because they were all different lengths. I would never recommend this place to anyone. Paying customers should not be subjected to poor service or poor attitudes. When donating, you only have one shot at the cut. I was more disgusted with her attitude than the cut. Knowing the stylists poor attitude, she may try to challenge me for writing this review. Nothing surprises me these days.(Smh).
