Combination Platter with orange chicken and beef with garlic sauce.

Moved into the area and was craving Chinese. I've been here several times now and it's been consistently good! I usually go for a combination plate with lo mein noodles. So far I love the orange chicken and pepper steak with onion. I will be a regular! :)

I was charging my EV around the corner here at Willowbrook Commons, walking around seeing if there was anywhere to eat and that's how I found No 1 Chinese! The restaurant is extremely well maintained and I was greeted kindly. The ambiance facilitates these moods of kindness and cleanliness. I felt welcomed and ready to eat! The chefs were cooking and enjoying their work--I could see their smiles and hear their conversations which made me smile too! They were very fast and the young lady at the front had packed my order within about five minutes or less! She related to me about how sometimes waiting for things seems like it takes forever and sometimes life jumps by super fast! I was impressed with her interpersonal approach to customer service and if you are one your way to another restaurant at this moment, turn around and welcome to No 1 Chinese at Willowbrook Commons!

The inside goes beyond your typical neighborhood Chinese spot, with grand décor that sets the mood. The staff is always friendly and even brings out complimentary kimchi and peanuts to start. Their combo prices are incredibly fair (around $20), and each one comes loaded with fresh veggies, ramen noodles, and fish balls. The sauce bar is next level too, with fresh cilantro and green onion, sesame sauce, and chili oil, all ready to be mixed to your taste. I did a pick-up order, so I'll have to come back and try the hotpot, but our experience with the two dishes we ordered was good. Ordered: 1. Snow pea tips ($21.99) - a classic chinese restaurant dish that they did well; would order again. 2. Sour cabbage fish ($28.99) - the portion is huge (you get what you pay for ~$30), but satisfying. The fish fillets are incredibly tender. The pickled cabbage gives it a nice sour flavor to round everything out, and the soup comes with noodles which was a nice surprise. Food was ready in 40 minutes on a Friday evening, so it's a good idea to plan your order ahead of time.

This fit our time budget just fine as we had about 3.5 hours before our flight departs. This location is what you would expect from an ordinary hot pot restaurant with simple seating, a custom bar to choose the items you want, and a small sauce station. My lovely lady and I decided to go with the custom hot pot option where you grab a large bowl, go to the custom bar and choose the items that you want them to cook in your hot pot. They weigh all the stuff together and charge $14.99 per pound. We originally choose the House Spicy broth, but my beautiful partner asked the lady how spicy was the broth, and she did say it was actually spicy; so she asked them to downgrade my broth to the Sour and Spicy broth, as it was more mild. I'm so glad she did, as my broth still seemed quite spicy, especially the red chili oil floating at the top. I'm not sure how she was able to deal with the House Spicy level, but she was able to power through it. The sauce station was quite limited, without any sweet options to mix with the spicy oil and scallions. Overall, this place is ok for Tennessee. I feel like we are spoiled coming from the Los Angeles area where we have access to so many options with super fresh ingredients.

Now... if only I could remember where I am staying. LOL. Just kidding! I made it. I got so lit in Japanese whiskey flights that I ordered enough food for two people. The "Flight to Tokyo" lived up to its namesake tremendously. That dang whiskey is wicked man. Combined with the beers that go down like water and you may be like me.... Wasted Soup dumplings are so damn cool. It's also either an engineering marvel or some sort of biblical miracle. How is the soup born inside the little dumpling?? So many questions!! I had some here and they were sure tasty!! I also had some killer crispy fried pork belly and some kick ass twice fried Korean wings!! Pork belly had tremendous umami flavors and was sticky sweet and yummy all at once! Loved it! But then came the Star.... I love chicken wings as much as I love life! That my friend, is a whole fucking lot!! I am more full of myself than you could possibly imagine. I loved these particular chicken wings a little more than life. I walked through downtown Nashville alone, on a random weeknight, just to eat these wings because I saw them on Yelp. I had already eaten dinner at Eddie V's earlier in the evening, but these wings called me from more than a mile away... Come eat me, Adam.... Is all I could hear after I saw others pictures of the wings.... Shhhh. Wings. I can't. But you must, said the wings.... I can't, I have no transportation.... The ambience is bright and energetic, with fun neon signs and decor. The space feels open and spacious with plenty of seating. We started our night with the Pork Belly Bao Buns, but since they were out of pork belly, we tried the Chinese BBQ Pork instead. I wasn't upset because they were phenomenal. The Soup Dumplings were just as amazing, but the Roti Canai (Malaysian flatbreads with curry sauce) stole the show. The curry was rich with the perfect amount of spice. You're missing out if you skip the appetizers here. For my entrée, I ordered the Hong Kong Wonton Noodle Soup, and all I can say is wow. The broth and tender wontons were the perfect combination. My boyfriend loved his Pad Thai as well, and the only downside was the portion size for the price. I want to give a huge shoutout to our server, Jaylen, for making the experience top-notch. He was incredibly attentive, patient, and offered great recommendations through the night. Hawkers is on my list for date nights, ladies' nights, or a casual evening out (especially for drinks and appetizers!)

Once our table was ready, we were seated at the door with a 1/2 table but it worked since it was just three of us. If I returned I'd want to do a full table as it was difficult to cook and talk to each other at a half table. There are tons of raw meat, veggie, seafood, noodles, rice options to grill or add to your hot pot. Along with sushi and desserts. Everything I had was good except the sushi which was bland and tasted like it sat out for hours. I also wish it wasn't buffet style with so many hands touching everything. Plus the plates were stored beneath the food and were hard to reach. I stood most of the time to cook because of the table set up. I'm not sure how others did it but I had to go get clean plates to place my food on after cooking because I refused to put cooked food on a plate with formerly raw meat. There also needs to be clean bowls available for finished hot pot food. I had to use the ramen bowl I had from the conveyor belt. Speaking of the conveyor belt, I'm confused about its point an only one person at our table could reach it. Things were not labeled and the majority were available on the buffet. My niece enjoyed herself so that's what really mattered. However, she's the one that gave it 3 stars so not the best or her favorite but also not bad. I will say (and I never mentioned this to my niece because I didn't want to ruin the evening) that I used the restroom and while washing my hands saw one of the workers use the restroom and never wash her hands!
