Join me and this deliciousness at Nissi VegMex ATX! This place understood the assignment. If you're in Austin and craving that classic MexFood hit but want it plant-based & popping, this is the SPOT. * I went all in: Taco Plate with El Pastor & Carne Asada * Plus those loaded nachos -- my LORD. Cheesy, savory, spicy heaven in every bite. * The seasoning, textures, and flavor layers had me in full-blown happy tears (ok not really but emotionally, yes). Vibes? Chill, spacious, and welcoming. Service? Friendly and super helpful -- they walked me through all the options with a smile. Menu? STACKED with vegan takes on all your favorite comfort dishes. They're not just serving food here -- they're serving up a movement. 10/10, absolutely will be back to support this magical Mex-Vegan fusion.

I was really excited to find this place close to where I'm staying! This is the kind of vegan restaurant non-vegans wouldn't mind going to at all. I got the carne asada nachos, and they were excellent. I thought they were a bit pricy at first, but then I got my food. It can easily feed two people!! I think I ate more than I should've, but I couldn't stop myself. If you get these, I'd recommend no or light lettuce because there is A LOT on top. I'd also maybe not get the beans next time. They kind of overpower all the other flavors (didn't stop me from devouring though)! Spacious and clean restaurant too. Lots of parking. Staff was very helpful with suggestions, since it was my first time. Can't wait to go back and try more things from the menu!!

Tasty food but too expensive. I had a stomachache all day afterwards. We ordered a chalupa plate, birria plate and side of rice and beans. The food was delicious. The interior of the restaurant is stark so there's not much for atmosphere. There was kind of a musty smell in the air. The person that took our order was efficient but not friendly. The bill came to $41 including tip. The food was tasty but in my opinion overpriced. Maybe if the interior was decorated really nicely I could see that price being more fitting. Something about the food did not sit well with me and I was in pain the rest of the day.

I was looking forward to trying this spot and I would say I was left wanting more, but maybe I ordered the wrong thing. I got the fajita burrito, and I definitely think I was allergic to something in it so I would ask about allergens next time since they are not clearly listed. But even besides that, it didn't feel fresh and lacked seasoning. My partner tried the birria plate and had a great experience with it though so I would recommend maybe trying that but personally may not be back!

Very delicious vegan mexican food here in Austin Texas. The Gluten free chick'n flautas were amazingly delicious. The birria ramen had spaghetti noodles and didn't really stand out compared to others we've tried. But the best thing I had were those churro chips that had that ice cream!!! You gotta try it. Best dessert in town! The customer service was great! Looking forward to trying other things on the menu. Still a must try spot!

This is a must go!!! I'm always so impressed by this place - it was so nice to see them expand into a brick & mortar when I was living here and it remains a staple in the community - I come here every time I'm back in town! If you're looking for vegan Mexican food, you've come to the right spot - my go to is the taco plate, but I've never been disappointed when I go. The service is super quick & there are plenty of seating options inside.

Nissi never disappoints!!!! Tried the ramen most recently, and while not my favorite thing I've tried, still solid!

This is the best spot if you're looking for hearty vegan Mexican food where you have a variety of options. I got this via delivery and my food arrived hot and mess free. I got the taco plate with 3 carna asada tacoes with rice and beans, was delicious! Very filling and I rotated between differences sauces. Was extremely filling and satisfying.

My first time trying a vegan restaurant with some friends in town who are vegan (I am not) and this recommendation did not disappoint! A casual Tex Mex eatery with all vegan plates - from tacos to flautas and more. Overall it was tasty and I honestly would not even be able to tell a difference in some of the "meats". Plates are around $13-$16 and there are options for sides and chips and queso/guac. QUICK FACTS: - Parking? Yes, a shared shopping lot with ample parking. - Reservations? No, this place is casual and fast. Order at the counter, pay, and seat yourself. - Takeout? Yes, you can order to-go. FOOD RATINGS: - Flauta plate (4/5): This was my favorite. The "chicken" is good and the avocado crema and sauces are delicious. Perfectly crispy without being oily! Beans and rice are just okay. Not very flavorful. - Birria plate (3.5/5): Pretty decent tacos. Flavor was good but just left something missing for me. - Taco plate (4/5): Solid taco plate. You can choose your proteins. The salsas and sauces are so good!

I came here with my sister thinking we'd have a spectacular Tex Mex vegan experience in Austin, but the food that was delivered to us were sub-par. My sister had heard excellent reviews regarding the nachos, apparently they offer a variety of "meats" in different styles and it's a simple add to a huge plate of nachos. I ordered the "carne asada" nachos and my sister ordered a different type of "meat" for her nachos, but when our plates came out, it looked as though there was no difference... The serving was HUGE though, and I wasn't able to finish. At the same time, I wasn't enthused in attempting to finish it anyways. I'd like to give these guys another chance, but it might be when my appetite is raging and I don't care what they end up giving me....

I was feeling down today and much like other yelpers, good food always makes me feel a little better. It was slow at work so I knew I wanted to find someplace that I hadn't tried before and had good veggie options. Lo and behold, how have I never been to this location? Especially considering how close it is to my workplace. My first impression was that the furniture and ambiance looked really cute. You could definitely have a group of people come to the restaurant for a celebration and they would have enough room. The service was also nice. And of course the food was Super fresh and tasty. I got the chalupa plate, it was crunchy and delicious! The orange salsa was too spicy for my taste but the green salsa hit just right. One tip, if you are taking your food to go and have a far distance to travel I would not get the Chalupa because it may be soggy. Thankfully my clinic is not far from the restaurant so mine was awesome. I will definitely come back and try a few other things at this place since everything here is vegetarian and I think also Vegan. Also, for my celiac friends they do have a bunch of GF options so that's cool too!

We absolutely recommend coming here and getting fajitas or enchiladas or Barbacoa quesadillas maybe all of the above if you bring enough people because it's all delicious! Mama Betty's has a really fun outdoor patio space and always has great music playing. It's an awesome establishment to bring families kids Little League teams, office meetings whatever you want you won't disappoint anybody you bring. No matter who we have gotten as far as the wait staff they have all been extremely friendly, kind and helpful when it came to choosing something on the menu--everybody here has a wonderful and warm personality. They really have put together a home run of a restaurant and I hope that they stay around for a long time. Last, but not least the drinks are outstanding, and everything is very competitively and fairly priced. If you haven't tried it and are worried about it being packed come during the weekday at lunch.

Went on Sunday after Easter service because we were craving something a friend brought us during a…read morerecent meal train but felt it a bit lacking. First, the menu needs a rewrite for content and clarity. For example, buying fajitas doesn't list guacamole and based on size, single, for two and family you get more sides of rice or beans. There's no definition of how much actual meat you get and our server couldn't provide that information beyond a rough estimate. Second, the fajitas we got of family size and for two portions for 7 were not consistently cooked. We asked for medium rare and got about 25% at that with the ones in the center at a more well done. Again, the multiple tiny sides were more obnoxious than anything as it's legit beans and rice unless you want to upcharge. The cilantro lime rice tastes like nothing so skip that and go for abuelita rice which has a hint of flavor. Overall, the butter/gravy that go on the fajitas is the real winner but again a menu where you overbuy and misunderstand (that doesn't even list extras like guacamole or a simple small queso) was beyond frustrating. I would stick to them for one to possibly get a better cook.

I've driven by El Alma many times being in the Austin area, but I never went until last Thursday, and after surviving a brief monsoon, I was glad to get a few drinks and eat some good TexMex with my large party just before a wedding. The best way to describe El Alma is that it is TexMex that is Austinified. Everything feels a little more unique and special than your classic TexMex options. I started off with a Mezcal Margarita that put a little hair on my chest and got me going. My group ordered two of their Nachitos, which were these nice nachos. For my main entrée, I got 3 Al Pastor tacos on corn with a side of their rice and beans. Their pastor was served with pineapples, onions, and cilantro with limes on the side. They were great and I immediately crushed them all. I thought their rice and beans were pretty good as well and a step above the typical TexMex rice and beans. The server was pretty attentive throughout our whole visit, and I honestly have no complaints about what they had to offer. Pricing on the meal and drinks was pretty standard for Austin, and I didn't think anything really took me out of the experience. On top of that, for being in Barton Springs, there is quite a bit of parking. I would love to come back at some point in the future and hang out on their rooftop bar because that seems like a lot of fun. I got them on corn tortillas and I'm glad I did: idk if they make them in house but somebody in some house is making these because they definitely aren't store bought, and if they are I want to know where! I tried the orange habanero and creamy serrano salsas. The habanero was spicy off the bat, while the serrano had more of a lingering burn. Both paired well with the steak. They have a little bar, too, though I did not imbibe this time. Seems like they have a decent selection of agave spirits, and even Campari behind the bar (iykyk). Decided to come in and the cashier greeted us and was really nice and patient because of questions with the menu. The Taco Bueno is what I had ordered and requested no potato. Sat down and after a few seconds, chips & salsa was delivered. Then after a few minutes, the food came. Quick service for sure and the food, AMAZING. Anyone reading this, try this place out and if u like it, come back! Cuz we are for sure =D
