We finally got around to coming here for the buffet last night. You read that right. Yes, a buffet. Yes, we're aware there is still a pandemic. Here is how that works at Nirvana: All food stations are covered. You must wear a mask, sanitize your hands and wear gloves (not to be reused for subsequent trips) to handle the stations. Tables are spaced out and they spread parties out as much as possible. They did enough for us to feel comfortable and service was great. The food on the buffet were good! The lamb chops were a favorite of both of ours, followed by the choley, curried butternut squash & cabbage. Of course we had wayyy more than that but those topped the list. The complimentary naan was also good (favorite: cheese naan). The only thing that I really didn't care for was the shrimp. It was overcooked and very rubbery. Other than that we have no complaints and look forward to returning. I don't know how we never realized this place was here! read more

The food was beyond amazing and the options for buffet had a lot of variety! Definitely one of my favorite restaurants in Houston.

This place was decent. Walking in, you can see at least a dozen food options. Although they weren't amazing, the dishes were all good. I liked the slight sourness of the curry chicken. The Tikka masala tasted slightly chalky. The saag paneer tasted good, but tasted like butter more than spinach. The service was pretty good, but seemed to go through periods of lag where no one was around. I liked the gulab jamun here. The syrup went all the way to the core. I would recommend this place for people who want a decently priced (33 for 2 people) meal. I do not like the forced valet...I don't care if it is complimentary. This is my most favorite restaraunt. Nothing tastes better than the food here. I would rather eat here than to eat cake on my birthday. The manager Monsir is friendly, personable, and compassionate. Jakil an employee spoke with me and make the rest of my day pleasant. It is very clear that the employees love working here. Nirvana feels like home. read more

Love their lunch buffet. I wish that their naan is better tastes more like a pitaesk bread than naan. Great way to explore and eat the different Indian dishes than ordering 1-2 dishes at a time for dinner. More variety than other buffets. COVID--they only want u to use one glove the whole time at the buffet and only on the hand that you are utilizing spoon or tongs. read more

It is a great shame that this Restaurant had a fire and they moved premises, although only next door. I was so disappointed when we visited last evening to find that their great menu had been replaced by a not so interesting buffet style meal. The food was OK but nearly cold and not of the quality we have been used to. This was always one of our favourite Indian restaurants but, to be honest, we probably will not be returning. I felt as if I was eating in a canteen and this is not what I expect when going out for an evening meal. I personally felt very let down. I would like to add that the staff are all as nice and professional as always and I will miss them. I also need to add that the web site is still showing their old full menu which could fool you. The first thing that comes to mind is all the fruit flies flying around the food!! When I see bugs in a restaurant, the only thing that I can think of is a dirty kitchen, it was hard to enjoy the food thinking about that. There was a large Sunday buffet and a lot of different meats and sides to choose from, the tandoori chicken was a bit dry. A fitting name for flavors and dishes that exceed expectations. Don't let other reviews fool you; the lunch buffet here is absolutely Nirvana. At roughly $16 a person you get your choice of 14 hot dishes, a salad bar with the usual yogurt sauces and chutneys, and a selection of desserts. Warm naan is brought to your table that is cooked to perfection. The bread is soft and soaks up the various sauces available, but has a crunch exterior that makes it irresistible. I didn't find the service to be lacking in any way. In fact, with the room filling up fast, there were seldom moments I was not checked on or offered some delicious treat. The wait staff would ask if I would like to try some fruit with spices on it or suggested ways to eat the various dishes that were at the buffet. My water glass never reached halfway down before it was topped off again. As for the dishes, the selection was everything I could hope for. My favorites being the Goat Rhogan Josh, Mushroom Masala, and Veggie Fritters With Yogurt Sauce. Nothing was overwhelmingly spicy and it all married well on the plate. Dessert was a fantastic way to end the meal. The rice pudding had little surprising bits of crunch that gave a nice change to the texture. The sooji ka halva was served warm and had an almost corn cake texture to it. It was mildly sweet and completely delicious. How this place couldn't have 5 stars for the lunch buffet alone baffles me. read more

This is the first time I tried, I'd definitely recommend for the first time though. They have many varieties of veg and non veg. Veg Chole masala, palak panner was just ok. In non veg, all the starters were good, only chicken biryani was there. I loved the chikka tikka masala and Rohan josh could have been better. I liked the most desserts. Ultimate was the rice kheer, hot served gulab jamun. I recommend this place only for starters and very good desserts. Ambience was good too. read more

Got some take out here recently. I can not recommend this place enough! The staff is super friendly. Very attractive to the customers. Curry lamb we got was so good! We also got the coconut seafood meal..sorry. I don't remember the name, and it was so good! The rice was cooked perfect too! We will definitely be ordering from here again. read more

We went there this weekend. This is more of a Pakistani restaurant than Indian Restaurant. Food is definitely good, but the service was the slowest we've seen. It took them 40 minutes to get our food. My LO was so hungry... I was literally thinking of giving him a snack bar from my purse while waiting for his order to come out. They even took 5 minutes to get us salt! We ordered pakoda, corn Saag, aloo paratha and opinion kulcha. The corn saag was great, not something we get to eat at regular Indian restaurants. We liked the parathas too, just that everything was extremely oily! Overall the neighborhood is in a bad shape. Homeless people in the empty lot next door and a stripped car in the parking lot was definitely a put off. The patio is useless if one has to look out at homeless people. read more

Good food! We ordered the Aloo Tikka Masala ($11), Green curry with chicken ($20), and Boti Kebab Masala (20). Chicken was dry and there wasn't much of it - but the lamb was tasty. The curry was very mild and the kebab masala was almost sweet. Overall good food! But for that price point, I probably would look elsewhere and not break the bank. read more

Best part is the combination of Indian food and a patio seating! Rare find. Came here for lunch, where they had a buffet spread at the time. Good spread, but we Loved the palak paneer, goat curry and fish biryani in particular. A clean and restaurant with great ambience and delicious tasting food! The owner was very welcoming and the entire staff was very friendly. The food was fantastic. One of the few Indian restaurants to serve a dinner buffet, and it did not disappoint! Palak paneer, chicken tikka masala, and goat curry are must trys! I came here on a Monday night with some Family members for the buffet dinner. It was delicious! I've been to a handful of other Indian buffets, but have never seen such a nice variety of items before. Mushroom curry, shrimp, chicken curry, chicken tikka, dal mahkni, and much more. I had been to there lunch buffet pre Covid and just say I was very uninspired by it and have not returned back. But tonight I was craving some Indian food and decided to order some take out and see how their food was off the menu. I was pleasantly surprised! I ordered their garlic naan bread, chicken tikka masala and palek paneer and it was very good not to mention portion sizes are huge! Taste: I've had a lot of different food from Nirvana, some of which you can only get through catering, or by letting them know beforehand. From the Dinner Buffet my favorite is the Lamb Chops, Curried Butternut Squash, Tandoori Chicken, Chicken Biryani and Palak Paneer. The Lamb Chops are some of the best I've ever had and they are seasoned very well. For desert I highly recommend the Mango Delight or Mango Mousse. They have other amazing deserts as well but those two are my preferences. Price: For the quality of food you're getting the price is definitely worth it. I don't know their catering prices but I've had food catered by them and I can say it is definitely worth it. Their Beef Biryani in particular is amazing. Although the food is delicious and seems to be fresh for the most part, I came across 2 issues during my lunch buffet experience. The first is moldy naan. In one of the photos I uploaded, there is a small piece of naan that our server picked off of a larger piece when we brought it to her attention that it was mold. Instead of apologizing and assuring us that she'd tell the appropriate people, she told us "That's weird, we cook it fresh every day" and then proceeded to tell us that it was part of the oven they cook the naan on that had flaked off onto the bread during the cooking process. However, this is very clearly green mold. A small piece of mold is understandable, but dismissing it with a poor excuse is not. If there is a problem, please fix it! This was my husband's first time eating Indian food and he was just saying how he'd definitely return often before he reached for that one last bite of bread. But the molded bread + the dismissive demeanor of the server completely changed his mind. Unfortunately we didn't have the time to take up the issue with anyone else. The second issue is we were charged more than the advertised price for the lunch buffet on their website. The website has the price listed as $14.50 per person. We were charged $15.49 per person. We only had tap water with our buffets, no extra beverages or side items. read more

Usually I'm very skeptical about quality of buffet food since I know they have to make theirs money back somehow lol. It's either really expensive or the buffet only has like 2-3 really good dishes. However, this place seriously caught me off guard. First off, I love the atmosphere and the decorations. It's like walking into a house with lots of art and jeweled decor. They sat us really quickly too. I noticed if they were out of tables, they'd let the guests coming in start grabbing food while they wait for other guests to finish paying. The food all tasted fantastic. The Tandoori Chicken was moist, and the chicken tikka masala was so flavorful. The goat curry was a crowd pleaser too. I'm not vegetarian obvi, but I also liked the vegetable fritters and the eggplant. Those were my faves, but honestly everything I tried was delicious. I heard at the dinner buffet, they add lamb chops so you know I'll be back for those. Overall, we had a very good experience. I can't believe it's less than 20 bucks a person with the quality they have here. The service was attentive, the food was amazing, and we will definitely be back. read more

The ambience is good and so is the service. We were there for lunch buffet. They have a lot of food options for both vegetarians and non vegetarians. But the doesn't have the authentic Indian taste. It lacks the wow factor which you can experience at other resturants in Houston. I am not sure if they miss named the deserts because they were calling sooji halva as carrot halwa and something which was not kheer was named as kheer. But the good thing is that the desert was delicious. read more
