This was our first visit to Nirvana. The ambience was welcoming and service was great. We ordered several dishes and they were delicious. The spice level was adequate for all tastes. The food here is traditional North Indian with some 'Indo-Chinese dishes to boot. Certainly not for the faint - hearted !!

The ground lamb didn't overpower the already expertly executed hummus and added fantastic depth and richness. We also sprung for the grilled calamari tubes and the chef did a great job of not overcooking while achieving an excellent char. We shared the baked cod and the spice was delicate and perfect. Using cured lemon was a very clever idea as the sauce was not too strong but still had depth; the saffron and turmeric were well balanced. The fish itself was NOT overcooked and flaked perfectly. The vegetables were also executed well and cooked so they could be eaten with the same bite. The star of the show was still the cook on the fish with the wonderful sauce. The sever gave us some Moroccan mint tea which was also wonderful. We will be making the drive from the Maine Line to just to dine here again.

The service was incredibly friendly and gracious and the ambiance charming. We started with hot appetizers of roasted artichokes, pan fried Halloumi cheese, Spanakopita and an evening special hummus with spiced, minced lamb served with warm pita. All so delicious we were tempted to forego our main courses of moussaka, lamb kebab and delicious lemon/caper cod served over a bed of roasted root vegetable. Desserts, celebrated with a happy birthday candle on a scrumptious chocolate/hazelnut cake , walnut baklava and Turkish coffee made the evening complete. This BYOB gem is a culinary find and we will be going back soon.

She was kept running though. Atmosphere Leave the kids at home. This facility is a bar and not a place to bring a child to. From what i saw, there were no ramps for a wheelchair. Some low steps that somebody might assist a wheelchair bound individual. The big con: It was pricey! Half rack or ribs, order of scallops, 2 crocks onion soup, iced tea & soda...$64. with tip. Even without the soups, $6.00 each, would have been $40..to me, still a bit high, considering it's a bar.

The floor in the main dinning room is pulling apart and is duct taped together. The chairs and tables are flimsy and falling apart. I asked for a blood orange margarita as it was the special of the day. It was not drinkable. It was some sort of powder or mix that was so sour and overly sweet. It did not have any tequila in it. I literally took one sip and left it there. The cheesesteak was good on a seeded roll. It was ribeye and it was done well. Hence tge two stars. The bbq platter had brisket, pulled chicken, ribs, corn and Mac and cheese. The Mac and cheese was the best thing on the platter. The pulled chicken was sitting in a bowl of grease. The brisket was big globs of fat. The ribs were okay. They put a tiny line of sauce on each item. The service was rushed and spotty. I had heard good things, so we decided to give it a try. Very disappointed. There are so many good places around this area now, there is no need to go here again.

Perhaps that is why it seems always crowded with shoppers and people dining in the small eating area right across the narrow aisle from this shop. There is plenty to look at in their refrigerated display cases and a reasonably large menu on a digital monitor on the wall behind. Prices appear to have inflated over recent months; a product of supply chain and tariff instability. Still, if it's quality that you seek, Madara's is where you find it. I ordered the Fried Flounder Platter with Fries and Cole Slaw. It came in at $11+, and was the closest thing to the fish and chips I wanted. But for the use of panko breading rather than English batter, it was excellent. The fillet was huge - about two hands full, and covered in crisp fries that held their crunchy tone to the very end. The Slaw was in a too small plastic cup, and was exhausted long before the flounder. Their homemade tartar sauce was ample for my needs for the broad fish and dipping my fries. I was pleased that neither of the deep fried components left an aftertaste. Clean oil is most appreciated. This was one of the best fast made to order meals I have enjoyed in 2026! This time, I confirmed with the waitress how it would be prepared, but what came out was completely different, filleted with a tomato based sauce, peppers, and onions. I told them that was not what we discussed and made it clear I'm allergic to tomatoes. I was told it wouldn't be a problem to make the fish I actually requested. Instead of remaking the dish, they took the same fish back, removed the toppings, left the tomato residue and brought it back out with the same side; including cold rice. After I clearly stated an allergy, serving the same fish with the tomato residue is unacceptable. This was careless and disappointing. If a customer mentions a food allergy, the dish should be remade, not modified and sent back out.
