Excellant fresh great service, best selection of fresh fish in the area. You wiil not becsorry.

High end seafood choices in the Newtown Farmers Market. Madara's occupies the northwest corner of the market which is only open Thursday through Saturday. Perhaps that is why it seems always crowded with shoppers and people dining in the small eating area right across the narrow aisle from this shop. There is plenty to look at in their refrigerated display cases and a reasonably large menu on a digital monitor on the wall behind. Prices appear to have inflated over recent months; a product of supply chain and tariff instability. Still, if it's quality that you seek, Madara's is where you find it. I ordered the Fried Flounder Platter with Fries and Cole Slaw. It came in at $11+, and was the closest thing to the fish and chips I wanted. But for the use of panko breading rather than English batter, it was excellent. The fillet was huge - about two hands full, and covered in crisp fries that held their crunchy tone to the very end. The Slaw was in a too small plastic cup, and was exhausted long before the flounder. Their homemade tartar sauce was ample for my needs for the broad fish and dipping my fries. I was pleased that neither of the deep fried components left an aftertaste. Clean oil is most appreciated. This was one of the best fast made to order meals I have enjoyed in 2026! Well I purchased two 6 oz lobster tails today, $22.00 each I figured ok it Valentine's Day. But I didn't expect them to be lower weight by 2 ounces. Not good . You get 1star because I couldn't give you minus "-2" This is really shady. read more

Madara's always has a great selection of fresh seafood! Choices are right in front of you, and the staff is always great about checking if the cut and amount is what you want. Our favorite is their broiled salmon, but everything we've had there has been excellent. Also .. for whatever reason ... they have the best chicken tenders and honey mustard sauce! read more

Very good food with reasonable priced meals and fresh seafood! There is always a crowd and the service is amazing

The best Seafood in Newtown ! Too bad they are only opened Three days a week ! Tell Joe I said hi !

I ordered the blacken catfish sandwich which was very good. My only complaint Do Not Order the Lobster Bisque. On a scale of 1 to 10 It's a 1. It was by far the worst lobster bisque I ever had. It was so watered down & if there was lobster in it, it was so finely chopped up. I had cans of lobster bisque that was much better. The best way I would describe it is imagining eating 3/4 of a can of soup and the next day you decide it eat the rest so you add water to the can to heat up on the stove. Can't wait to go on vacation and get real lobster bisque at the Lobster House. I also had a very good lobster bisque one time last yr at Maglio's pizza on Sycamore Street. I never had it again, but I always inquire when I get food from that place. read more

Great stuff!! Loved the crab cake sandwich and fries. We will be back for more!! Awesome place and staff!!

Best seafood ever! Love the blackened salmon, tilapia, tuna and flounder. Both platters and sandwiches are amazing, fresh, juicy and tasty. You cannot miss this place if you're in Philly area. This is inside the newtowns farmers Market! read more

I try to avoid Madara's every time I come to the Amish market, I walk around the other way, I buy pigs in a blanket, I eat an empanada, and then creep back into that sexy seafood corner of love. I always order the fried scallops that are giant and perfectly golden. Then I try to sucker my beau into ordering the stuffed shrimp or calamari. Yes, get the fries, they are so crunchy and delicious, maybe they double fry them maybe they also own a potato farm? I don't know, but get them. A full meal of 8 perfect scallops, a heap of fries and side of broccoli for $10! They are consistently good, the service is great and friendly despite how busy they always are. I have NEVER had a bad piece of seafood here and the portions are ginormous with great prices. Ok, I'm going to end this review so I can go get some scallops now...meet you there! read more

I love this place!! First it is in an Amish farmers market and there is a large variety of foods here like fresh meats, prepared meals, fruit and baked goods. Madara's is a diamond in the rough. Never thought I'd find a seafood place this good when I stopped in and saw them. I ordered the Broiled Shrimp and Scallop platter. It came with 4 large and scallops and shrimps that were cooked perfectly in a buttery garlic sauce that were delicious!! I opted for the steamed broccoli and I dipped that in the same sauce! Their coleslaw was also very good. All for $11.99!! That's right! I have NEVER paid so little for seafood this fresh and delicious! They're also offer seafood salads, wraps, fresh fish for purchase. If you are ever in the are try Madara's and you see how great they are read more

The crab stuffed shrimp are almost as big as the palm of my hand and loaded with crab meat.. They are indubitably the best I have ever had. The crab imperial is a huge portion, loaded with crab, seasonings, peppers and onions, breaded and fried into one big ball of a gastronomical delight. The first glass enclosed cooler had a display of breaded jumbo shrimp, scallops, huge crab imperial cakes, stuffed shrimp, salmon burgers, flounder, oysters, clam strips and soft shell crabs. You can have them cook it for you, which I did or take it home as is and mess up your own kitchen. In this same cooler is a very chunky shrimp salad, seafood salad, white fish pate and a spicy crab salad. If you are not into fried and God bless you if you are not, they have broiled stuffed flounder, stuffed salmon and stuffed shrimp. You can have them steam your clams or mussels, baked clams casino, or take them home to do your own thing with them later. We had then broil a dozen clams casino for us, their's are whole clams topped with a mixture of onions, green pepper and bacon. Hubby liked these more than I did, I was tempted to scrape them out of the shell and into the clam chowder. The open cases of fresh shellfish and fish is remarkable. I was a bit disappointed because I saw fish and chips, which they make with tilapia or flounder. I love both of these fish broiled or sauteed, but I love a nice meaty piece of fish for fish & chips, instead of having half breading, half fish. I did inquire and he said they carry cod in the fall and winter but he never recalls having haddock but cod is fine by me. I'll be anxious to check it out when the colder months arrive. They will make you a sandwich out of anything you see before you and will even blacken the tuna steak to rare or medium, although they will blacken any fish. They make wraps with the seafood salads, broiled, fried or blackened fish and they even boast a buffalo chicken wrap. They have five homemade soups, which you can have hot or already packaged in a container to go. I love the fact they do not use Styrofoam. I took home a prepackaged container of New England clam chowder and one of lobster bisque. The clams were tender, but not plentiful, I tasted very little seasoning, no thyme and I needed to add salt and pepper, the potatoes were red skinned and cubed and cooked perfectly, I detected no bacon and very little celery or onion. The bisque could have used some lobster in it, maybe a lace of sherry, it was too sweet and lacked flavor. The soups were okay, not sure I would buy them again, but I may try the others just to see if I might find a winner in the bunch. The other choices are Maryland style crab, Manhattan clam chowder and shrimp with black bean. You can buy platters of anything, even combinations, which come with two sides of either fries, Cole slaw or steamed vegetables. These folks are not Amish or Pa. Dutch and I fail to find any other info of them on the web, but the fish is fresh and the selection leaves little to be desired. I'm torn as how to rate them, the baked stuffed shrimp and the crab imperial are both a five as well as their awesome selection of fresh fish, shellfish and other menu items. For now I will weigh it all out and in the next few visits, I may just be bumping them up a star or two. Oh and the crab stuffed potato, I know crab would blend in well in a baked potato, but I sure had trouble finding it. Something is fishy here. read more

This is an awesome place for Seafood. I had the salmon wrap and the portion was so generous, it could have been for two people! And at just $8.99! It is a wait for the food but everything is made to order. As a result, the food is always fresh and at its best. Friendly wait staff, all food locally grown and produced...located at The Newtown Farmers Market on Eagle Rd. read more

Putting it simply, VERY good stuff here. There are a ton of options for freshly made seafood and even raw seafood to take home yourself. All of it looked absolutely amazing. No wonder it gets so busy. They have a lot to offer! So take a number and be patient, I assure it's worth waiting for. Everything is made to order. I ordered blackened salmon with a side of broccoli and coleslaw. (I would like to add that I was really happy that there are a lot of options that aren't fried.) For about ten bucks, I got a massive piece of perfectly cook fish. The broccoli steamed just right. Hell, the coleslaw was even good. I ate every last bit, even the underbelly skin- something I generally discard. It was crispy and full of flavor. I would absolutely come back. They just added a lobster roll to their menu, which is something I imagine is worth trying. read more

Since my original review, my wife still loves their ahi tuna wraps. Meanwhile, I've sampled the clam strips and crab cakes, and those are really tasty as well. Madara's is a gem, offering delicious, fresh seafood at a great price. Protip: Call your order in ahead if you want to skip the line and avoid grabbing a ticket...this place gets PACKED! read more

I love the Newtown Farmers Market, and this place is just one of the many reasons why. I LOVE their lobster roll! It's better than the lobster rolls I've had at restaurants and not as expensive (no offense Bonefish Grill). I also try and get their daily special before it's all gone since it's such a good deal. Now I know this place is known for its seafood, but they make my all time favorite French fry. The fries are so crispy on the outside and still soft on the inside. I usually order a small (which is still big) to go every time I am there. Maybe I should be ordering a large... The customer service is great! The one time I ordered a blackened catfish sandwich they were all out. One the gentlemen working there went around the farmers market to find me and asked if I wanted to substitute it or get a refund. I ended up substituting it for tilapia and even though it was more expensive, they didn't charge me extra. I wish this place was open more. With my new work schedule, it's hard to make it there in time. But seriously, try the fries! read more

I have enjoyed everything I have ever had here. The salmon is so fresh! The steamed cold shrimp with cocktail sauce was so delicious, and I don't even love shrimp but they were the best I ever had... yeah seriously! The girl at the counter said they will last a few days, but I will probably eat ALL of these tonight! They were big ol' shrimp, no veins, and delicious.. I might go back tomorrow and buy more. The girls there were very friendly and it was nice that they answered my questions and never get annoyed cause they were so busy, but they are always friendly to all the customers. The lobster roll was good though I wish they made it with butter not mayo. I had the combo plate the flounder was good but the fries and shrimp had a moldy taste-awful. Today After a long while I went back, I bought a beautiful fresh lobster tail to make the BEST, most succulent lobster roll EVER! And with BUTTER!! I call this beauty, Angel's Lobster Roll, you should add it to your menu it will fly like hot cakes! And I would buy it every week. Thanks for your tips on how to broil the lobster! read more

All the food is prepared fresh and made to order. They may not be the cheapest place to eat in the Farmer's Market, but they are a really good value and serve high quality food. The flounder sandwich is excellent, as are the clam strips. They have a buffalo chicken wrap (if you're not into seafood) that has a bit of a kick to it. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and very accommodating. They are only open when the Market is open (Thursday - Saturday) read more

So excited about this place!! A neighbor suggested this place for seafood because I wrote off the nasty salmon from groc stores (gag). this is a great spot - i love fish, but don't like the house to smell like it Madara's will cook it! I just call in a order for my favorite: Halibut, and pick it up 10 mintues later when it get there. I usually order a "platter" which includes a healthy steamed veggie and coleslaw or you sometimes i go for the fries. They have great fries. I'm only giving ths a 4 because it's not gourmet. It is fresh as can be and i've never been disappointed. oh the clams are awesome too read more

Very good seafood. I go there often for a blackened fish sandwich but they have a variety of fish, crab, shrimps and other seafood for sale. I would give it four stars but the wait for a sandwich is typically 15 to 20 minutes which, IMO is way too long to prepare a sandwich, even if they need to grill it. Regardless, I recommend this place - just be prepared to wait a bit, especially during the lunch hour. read more
