Wasn't what I expected. I was looking for an eat it lunch cafe, not a seafood market that happens to sell lunch items. Ordered the oyster po boy and the shrimp tacos. I had a great experience at Heller's today . The gentleman took the time to tell me about each oyster They had . I asked how do I open them he went above and beyond and took me in the back and taught me everything about oysters from opening them to storing them . Even gave me a bag of ice since had to travel a bit Everyone ewww extremely helpful and polite. I will definitely be back. And the oysters were outstanding. Ordered a combo platter (among many other items) , it looked and tasted as if it was fried the day before and then refried in dirty oil before I got there We did like the Maryland crab cakes, mostly because they were hear n eat, you can't ruin them They should do better than this for such a small to -go menu ! Did you know that great seafood markets are really hard to find? I didn't but I think it's because I was super spoiled in Florida having been so lucky as to have had one equally as wonderful as Heller's right down the road. Unless you live in the area, you'd simply never know the place existed. It's tucked away in a strip shopping center pretty far off the main road and sandwiched between a gift store and maybe a small post office. But once you know it's there, trust me, you won't forget it. It's pricey, I won't kid you, but the quality and freshness far outweigh the cost. What I found to be so nice is that the people who came in after me were greeted in first names. Gads, I wish I lived closer! But just let me tell you about the fish. My first visit, and yes, the place does look like my Boynton Beach fish market, I found hog nose snapper and stone crabs as well as a dozen or so other varieties of fish and the largest shrimp I have ever seen.. Yay! I ordered oysters on the half shell from a list on at least 10 different varieties. They boxed the freshly shucked oysters in a rectangular plastic box over ice and labeled the lid so I would know which I was serving at that moment. I didn't want to have to do this but unfortunately I do!! So I have been going to Hellers seafood and have been very happy. Every time I called and asked for what I wanted there has never been any issues. The last time I ordered they told me they can't cook my 1.5lb king crab legs, or dozen of clams. They guy said he is saving me about $9 since he would have to charge me and told me how to cook it myself. okay fine, I go pick up my crab legs and notice they didn't give me the garlic butter sauce or the cocktail sauce. The guy rolled his eye behind the counter and gave me some. Okay so now today I order 2lbs of crab legs, 1lb of cooked shrimp. AGAIN they didn't want to cook them for me nor give me cocktail sauce or garlic butter sauce because I would have to buy hot cooked meals to get a free sample of cocktail sauce. Excuse me?' I just spent $65 for shit I now have to cook myself and you can't afford to give me two little samples of cocktail sauce because I have to buy a $10 hot meal. Well guess what?! HELLers Seafood you just lost a customer who spends OVER $100/month for your seafood. I'll go to CHICKIE AND PETES NOW where is cheaper and they cook it without a problems! read more

Excellent fish, always fresh. My go to place for seafood. When I buy there, it's always great and I never have to worry. The seafood does cost a little bit more than what you get a Giant and Assi, but you get what you pay for. (I've had to bring seafood back to Giant and Assi, as it was spoiled right out of the packet.) They have sushi grade fish as well. The crab cakes are excellent. This market has a little vegetable counter as well, to help in a pinch so you don't have to make a 2nd stop at a supermarket. Some of the men who work here are a bit quiet, but don't misinterpret that as "unfriendly." They're just quiet that's all. The owner is very, very nice. One time, I hit his car in the parking lot and he was very understanding and forgiving about it. Great place. read more

Ok...so I was looking to find an alternative to chain supermarket seafood and maybe perhaps a real seafood purveyor. Sort of met the description.. its a real seafood store front located in a strip mall. So lets get to the experience. They have a full selection of fish, shell fish, prepared dishes and a frozen section. Fish quality seemed ok, but I was looking for some lobsters. The lobster tank is located on the left when you walk in. The first thing we noticed was the tank was dirty, water cloudy and a bit of algae on the tank windows. Price of lobster: $17.99 per pound! HA HA. We passed looked for alternatives, looked at the halibut $33 per pound! Pass. Then move on to red snapper at $24 per pound! Pass. We picked out some lobster ravioli, went to the counter to pay and we waited and waited, but for some reason the Vin Diesel wannabe behind the counter did not want to ring us up. Same for the younger girl who rightfully attended to a person in front of us, but then walked away. Left our selection at the register and walk out. Went to Wegmans, (half mile south) picked up six pounds of Lobsters at $10.99 per pound (Tank was totally clean and service was prompt.) By the way, Halibut was $22 per pound, red snapper ~$18 per pound. So much for supporting the private small business guy.... read more

They have a selection of breads and veggies, so you can buy your entire dinner here if you're keeping it simple. I found Heller's by mistake. went to the bank and asked if they knew a post office closeby. Found the post office and noticed Heller's. As soon as I went into that delicious aroma, I knew I belonged there. The fish is amazing - actually came across some species I didn't know of before. Fresh vegetables and their scones are excellent - this is praise indeed from a Brit! Their salads are scrumptious especially the mango salsa and the cauliflower when they have it. It is now on my facebook so expect more customers. The staff - very helpful and even took my name and number when I enquired about my favourite fish, Dover Sole, when they can get it.
