    Shrimp Po'boy
    Benjamin O.

The owner puts significant care into his craft, and his fried seafood and sandwiches are incredible. Super polite, and a big fan of Philly sports. His fries pair perfectly with his platters. Look at the size of these shrimp on this meticulously crafted Po'boy and it's only HALF the sandwich!

They didn't answer their phone and when I went out there on Saturday at 3:30, I was told they were sold. I'll never go here again!

Perhaps that is why it seems always crowded with shoppers and people dining in the small eating area right across the narrow aisle from this shop. There is plenty to look at in their refrigerated display cases and a reasonably large menu on a digital monitor on the wall behind. Prices appear to have inflated over recent months; a product of supply chain and tariff instability. Still, if it's quality that you seek, Madara's is where you find it. I ordered the Fried Flounder Platter with Fries and Cole Slaw. It came in at $11+, and was the closest thing to the fish and chips I wanted. But for the use of panko breading rather than English batter, it was excellent. The fillet was huge - about two hands full, and covered in crisp fries that held their crunchy tone to the very end. The Slaw was in a too small plastic cup, and was exhausted long before the flounder. Their homemade tartar sauce was ample for my needs for the broad fish and dipping my fries. I was pleased that neither of the deep fried components left an aftertaste. Clean oil is most appreciated. This was one of the best fast made to order meals I have enjoyed in 2026! I give them 1 star only because they don't let you give them zero stars…read more I got their, "Dockside Classics Gourmet Lobster Cakes" I put them into a toaster oven and baked them, and baked them, and baked them, and baked them. No matter how long you bake them, the 'contents' never firm-up. "Slop" would be the best description. The outside? One would THINK that eventually the coating would brown and crisp-up. Nope. "Harder Slop" would be the best description. I then tried flattening them as thin as I could, figuring if I bake them long enough, they would crisp-up. Nope. "More dispersed fish-slop that kind of got brown" is what I would call it in the end. If I were creating a tombstone for this slop, I would name it, "The best thing I can say about it is, I didn't throw it away". I would say a porpoise should feel proud if they pooped something that tastes this good; but I would not insult garbage by calling it garbage. Did anybody at the company ever eat this? Or prepare it like the instructions say to prepare it? And they are PROUD to have made this? Those who are looking at this review BEFORE you buy it, here's a hint... "They put all their money into the photo that goes on the box!" Oh, I forgot to mention the, "dipping sauce". When it was cold? It was strange, and I didn't want to even try it. It was a mix between oil that one has mixed corn starch (which doesn't mix together, of course). So, the 'dipping sauce' is slimy garlic oil. When Christine came into the Kitchen, she went, "What is THAT SMELL?" Then, when she saw the warmed-up-in-the-microwave-to-make-it-near-palatable oil... she said, "Is that a raw egg?" So, no, the company did not get ANYTHING RIGHT except for the photo on the box. Those look like things that AREN'T porpoise pus.

I will start of by saying that the staff here is great and the store is always easy to navigate. It is a bit older of a store so it's a little dark inside but it is also always busy which makes it feel much more lively. they have extensive produce, a large cheese section and prepared food section. Their bakery is nice as well. Actually their cookies are some of my favorite grocery store cookies. The prices can be a bit high but when they have sales they are usually fairly good. I feel like it's a slightly "fresher" and "healthier" store but I have had a hard time finding more unique healthy items. Overall it's a great store, it's not my local store but it's nice to pop in when I'm in the area to pick up some items that the stores near me don't carry.

I watched her interactions with the two guests ahead of me and was honestly surprised by how unhappy and disengaged she appeared. There were no smiles, no warmth, and her overall demeanor gave the impression that she disliked her job, disliked dealing with customers, and simply did not want to be there. As a business owner myself, I understand how important customer relationships are. The checkout counter is often the final impression a guest leaves with, and something as simple as a friendly smile or kind interaction goes a very long way when customers are spending their hard-earned money. I am from out of town and expected much more from what appears to be a boutique-style grocery store with a strong community feel. Stores like Trader Joe's are a great example of how positive, friendly interactions at checkout can completely elevate the customer experience. I even went so far as to ask Delaney if she was having a bad day, and the glaring stare I received in return ultimately prompted me to write this review. To be clear, I am not looking for anyone to lose their job. I simply believe some coaching in guest relations and customer interaction could make a tremendous difference. Delaney is very young, and I genuinely hope she either finds more joy in what she's doing or moves into something better suited for her personality and interests. Constructive feedback is meant to help businesses improve, and I hope this is received in that spirit.
