I give them 1 star only because they don't let you give them zero stars. I got their, "Dockside Classics Gourmet Lobster Cakes" I put them into a toaster oven and baked them, and baked them, and baked them, and baked them. No matter how long you bake them, the 'contents' never firm-up. "Slop" would be the best description. The outside? One would THINK that eventually the coating would brown and crisp-up. Nope. "Harder Slop" would be the best description. I then tried flattening them as thin as I could, figuring if I bake them long enough, they would crisp-up. Nope. "More dispersed fish-slop that kind of got brown" is what I would call it in the end. If I were creating a tombstone for this slop, I would name it, "The best thing I can say about it is, I didn't throw it away". I would say a porpoise should feel proud if they pooped something that tastes this good; but I would not insult garbage by calling it garbage. Did anybody at the company ever eat this? Or prepare it like the instructions say to prepare it? And they are PROUD to have made this? Those who are looking at this review BEFORE you buy it, here's a hint... "They put all their money into the photo that goes on the box!" Oh, I forgot to mention the, "dipping sauce". When it was cold? It was strange, and I didn't want to even try it. It was a mix between oil that one has mixed corn starch (which doesn't mix together, of course). So, the 'dipping sauce' is slimy garlic oil. When Christine came into the Kitchen, she went, "What is THAT SMELL?" Then, when she saw the warmed-up-in-the-microwave-to-make-it-near-palatable oil... she said, "Is that a raw egg?" The lobster cakes were all mush they never had a piece of lobster in them that you could see.

I was longing for a delicious lobster cake. I picked up a package of two of Seafood Americas Lobster Cakes in Food Lion on March 16, 2026, hoping that my longing would be satisfied. The product was pretty, but that is where it ended. The cakes were exactly that. CAKE. ALL FILLING. There was nothing in them that tasted anywhere near a Lobster. Pasty, Tasteless, Dry etc. If someone would have blindfolded me, I would have never guessed it was even seafood. Waste of money!!!!! read more

Seafood America makes the Dockside Classic line of Crab Cakes and Lobster Cakes. You can get these at many grocery stores. They were on sale at my local grocery store for $5.00 a box for 4 cakes per box. Reg $9.00, so I figured sounds like a deal. But then I get home and read all these awful reviews other places not yelp of how bad these were. I mean really bad reviews and a lot of them. Crap, I thought, and I bought 5 boxes! After heating in the oven, they smelled fine. I tasted the Lobster Cakes first, actually not bad! I mean no it's not gonna be chock full of lobster like some $18 Lobster Cake at a waterfront fancy restaurant, but it did taste like lobster. It wasn't quite as firm when I picked it up, so use a fork. The next day I tried the Crab Cakes. That was a completely different taste, but crabby! Again decent tasting, but no no like a gourmet seafood restaurant by the ocean full of crab meat, I mean really for the price, these were pretty good. Consider what you pay and judge these accordingly. They were easy and fast to prepare and made a nice snack or appetizer. Yes, I would actually get these again at this price point. I was a former employee of seafood America and I have an encounter with one of the employees who is considered a bully because of what he does and there is no reports or repercussions brought on him for his actions. A friend of mine that works there was assaulted by this man and he is only suspended and not terminated. I am appalled by this decision and it makes no sense. The fact that he can get away with this and nothing happens to him is mind boggling to me. Multiple employees that work there have had encountered him as well with problems. He would leave me notes and tell me that I'm doing my job wrong, would try to tell me what to do and how to do it and we didn't even work the same shift or department for that matter. Something needs to be done about it because it is absolutely unfair to all the employees that he bullied and assaulted. read more

The picture on the box is completely different from the crab cakes in the box. Do not waste your money on this product. Buy the Phillips Seafood crab cakes, or Safeway branded crab cakes sold in the same section as the Phillips products. We bought some lobster bisque from "Dockside Classics" at the local grocery store. Upon opening it, I noticed an odd smell. I heated it up anyway thinking that might help. To make a long story short, it didn't. There is an odd taste to this product. It doesn't have any discernible cream flavor. In fact, it has no flavor of any kind except the unpleasant, semi-metallic taste. It does not taste of lobster, even though there is a mealy texture that is intended to make the eater think there's lobster in it. We purchased a package of 4 Gourmet Lobster Cakes at our local Giant Food Store. Prepared them as per directions. If they did not have salt there would have been NO flavor at all. Salt is too much! the review written in 2008 must be an inside job...too much information for the normal person to know without being fed... in any event, i tried their crab cakes a few years ago and they were horrendous. i just tried the lobster cakes and the taste brought back the memories from the previous experience...there is no discernable real lobster and back then there was no discernable real crab. Depsite being listed first in the ingredient sections, the respective offering taste the same regardless of crab or lobster. The products are filling and "fake" crab as we know it but what the industry tries to legitimize calling it Surimi meat....The seasoning ingredients overwhelm any true fish taste. I bought the Dockside Classics Buffalo Shrimp Bites as appetizers during a football watching party. I thought buffalo shrimp would mean little shrimps inside a tasty breaded spicy bite. OMG.....this was nothing more than a hushpuppy with a little shrimp smell. There was nothing spicy...ie buffalo about it. There was no shrimp whatsoever!! If there were less than 1 star I would have selected it. I purchased "4 Extra Large STUFFED SHRIMP" The shrimp were less than medium size. One would think that there would be someone at Seafood American that would know how shrimp is graded. Apparently not. Also the product is NOT "STUFFED SHRIMP". It is, at best medium shrimp wrapped in a mixture of pasty stuff with a hint of crab meat. So, FALSE ADVERTISING personified. Medium shrimp: not extra large, not stuffed but rather wrapped in a mixture of mealy stuff with a hint of crap meat. The trace of crab meat was is insignificant it is hard to see if it is REAL or imitation. This conglomeration is coated with a colorized grainy meal, to give the product an appearance grandeur, which it is not!!! This is a classic case of FALSE ADVERTISING and just right for a class action suit.
