The market is very quaint, and reminds me of a fish market that you might find at the shore. Today I came in looking for a nice piece of fish to throw on the grill. I settled on some wild caught salmon, and the nice young man behind the counter recommended the red fish, which I'd never had before. I won't lie they are pricey, but you get what you pay for. Both pieces of fish were amazing. Not only was the quality excellent, but possibly the best fresh fish I've had in many years. I won't gate keep, so I'll be suggesting this market to my friends. I definitely know people who are looking for a place to purchase quality, line caught fish and I'm happy to share. Great customer service. The staff was very friendly, and the fish monger offered to remove the bones without me asking. Excellent experience. I'll definitely be back.

It's a very small, quaint spot, but it's really nice and well stocked for the size. The staff is wonderful. the young people working the register are always polite, kind, and engaging, which makes the experience even better. They have fresh salads ready to purchase, along with a seafood counter and a meat counter, and everything always looks fresh and well prepared. The store itself is small and can get pretty busy, but that's part of the charm of a neighborhood market. You can also find flowers, mums depending on the season, fresh herbs, cheeses, bottled sauces, and other specialty items. They really have a little bit of everything. Prices are moderate. Of course, they may be a little higher than bigger places like Produce Junction, but that's expected for a small local market where you can walk in and get fresh items quickly. Overall, it's a great local produce spot if you like supporting neighborhood businesses and want fresh ingredients without going to a big store. If you go, I'd love to hear about your experience.

Since I was in…read moreFishtown I decided to visit the one on Belgrade St. I wanted to get their various onigiri, but I got there a little too late so the only ones left was the lobster onigiri. Also picked up smoked salmon to try. I have not tried the smoked salmon yet, but I did like the onigiri, but was slightly disappointed. I liked the fact that the filling was placed throughout the rice (instead of traditionally placing in the center only); however, I felt it lacked in flavour and did not taste too much lobster. Also felt $8 for this onigiri was a bit steep. I would like to go back and try other onigiri and also buy some sushi grade tuna and salmon. I am still giving this place 4 stars because I know the quality is good, and until I taste other onigiri I don't want to be too hasty in giving them lower stars.

I always find it frustrating to go out to eat at a seafood restaurant and pay tons of money for the smallest amount of seafood. However, Atlantic seafood doesn't have any issues giving you fresh seafood on a budget. Not much I can say about this place, it's a typical seafood market, that also cooks food, in the back, while you wait. My weekly go to items include the steamed snow crab legs platter with shrimp. The platter comes with medium shrimp but I always sub for large shrimp. All steamed platters come with broccoli, corn and a potato... steamed with butter and old bay. I also get a fried Whiting platter and it comes with fries and cole slaw.... I honestly have no complaints about this place and the family that owns it, is very friendly.

Having spent most of my life here, a few familiar joys always come to mind. Now, I'll admit--shopping for fish wouldn't usually make that list. But Giuseppe's Market inside Samuels & Son has changed that entirely. This place is an absolute standout. The seafood selection is unmatched--ultra-fresh, incredibly diverse, and always beautifully displayed. But even more impressive than the product is the people. The team behind the counter is among the most professional, accommodating, knowledgeable, and all-around kind folks you'll ever encounter in a market. They're the kind of people who take pride in what they do and make you feel genuinely welcome every time you stop by. If you're not already shopping at Giuseppe's, let me just say--you're missing out. It's a hidden gem tucked inside a working seafood distribution hub, and it deserves your appreciation. The 15 lbs of Salmon came in convenient (approx.) 1 lb portions. With my first lb (I have gotten 3 lbs so far) here's what I made: Karen Flam's "Grilled Gravlax". Since I hadn't the time to do a proper "cure" here's what I did: Dry-rub the clean, thawed salmon with: 1.5 tsp. Penzey's Shallot Salt 1 tsp. Penzey's Vanilla Sugar (yes, really) A few healthy shakes of granulated Garlic A few cracks of fresh black pepper LOTS of fresh or dried dill. Then, squeeze on the juice of one (or two) fresh lemons, or use 3-4 TBSP of bottled lemon juice. Wrap in plastic and refrigerate for 4-6 hours (I couldn't wait any longer) - ideally - cure longer (and add some juniper berries - I didn;t have any). Heat a skillet with 1-2 tsp of good olive oil and pan-grill (or use a real grill or grill pan). I seared mine (First with skin side down, then flipped and seard the flesh side). Slice thinly and serve. Do not over cook! My 6 year old gobbled up the small slice I gave her and asked for more right away. She proceeded to eat about 4 oz!
