I've ordered from this place a few times now since I moved to the area. It's hard to find decent Chinese food in bucks county, so I was pleasantly surprised to find this place. The food is always good and the things I order are always flavorful. They give you large portions as well. The prices are good too. I have never eaten in this establishment, only take out. So I don't know how the service is.

On the search for good Chinese food around Newtown PA. Bamboo kitchen is super clean inside, the customer service was great, the prices are cheap, but the food is just decent. It didn't taste bad, but i've had better Chinese food.

Lunch Review Bamboo Kitchen (Why do I want to say, "Bamboo Curtain?"), Sits in the space of the former Peng Yuan Chinese house. New owners. New look. Very similar menu. I went down Buck Road to the Pleasant Valley Center to pick up my order for General Tso Chicken from their lunch list. It came with choice of rice (fried), but without soup or egg roll. Although I hadn't asked for it in advance, they were happy to add a Hot & Sour Soup for another $1. Good decision. Turned out that the soup was very good and the best part of the meal. It had fresh mushrooms, lots of sprouts and tofu, and strong tart vinegar base. Liked it alot. The rest was pretty much forgettable. The chicken was okay, but somewhat dried out, and the sauce sweet, but not the least bit spicy. The rice was dyed yellow from the bouillon it was cooked in, but did have a fair share of veggies and small pieces of pork. Given the quality of the soup compared to the rest, it would seem that lunch is a loss leader for them, priced too low to justify a really satisfying meal. The dinner menu is likely better.

Mapo Tofu with the most excellent peas and spice level!

Went on yelp, found this place, and was pleasantly surprised. Walking in the sports bar was a little tight and packed but from the dining room in the back you couldn't hear any of the noise. The floor in the main dinning room is pulling apart and is duct taped together. The chairs and tables are flimsy and falling apart. I asked for a blood orange margarita as it was the special of the day. It was not drinkable. It was some sort of powder or mix that was so sour and overly sweet. It did not have any tequila in it. I literally took one sip and left it there. The cheesesteak was good on a seeded roll. It was ribeye and it was done well. Hence tge two stars. The bbq platter had brisket, pulled chicken, ribs, corn and Mac and cheese. The Mac and cheese was the best thing on the platter. The pulled chicken was sitting in a bowl of grease. The brisket was big globs of fat. The ribs were okay. They put a tiny line of sauce on each item. The service was rushed and spotty. I had heard good things, so we decided to give it a try. Very disappointed. There are so many good places around this area now, there is no need to go here again.

Perhaps that is why it seems always crowded with shoppers and people dining in the small eating area right across the narrow aisle from this shop. There is plenty to look at in their refrigerated display cases and a reasonably large menu on a digital monitor on the wall behind. Prices appear to have inflated over recent months; a product of supply chain and tariff instability. Still, if it's quality that you seek, Madara's is where you find it. I ordered the Fried Flounder Platter with Fries and Cole Slaw. It came in at $11+, and was the closest thing to the fish and chips I wanted. But for the use of panko breading rather than English batter, it was excellent. The fillet was huge - about two hands full, and covered in crisp fries that held their crunchy tone to the very end. The Slaw was in a too small plastic cup, and was exhausted long before the flounder. Their homemade tartar sauce was ample for my needs for the broad fish and dipping my fries. I was pleased that neither of the deep fried components left an aftertaste. Clean oil is most appreciated. This was one of the best fast made to order meals I have enjoyed in 2026! This time, I confirmed with the waitress how it would be prepared, but what came out was completely different, filleted with a tomato based sauce, peppers, and onions. I told them that was not what we discussed and made it clear I'm allergic to tomatoes. I was told it wouldn't be a problem to make the fish I actually requested. Instead of remaking the dish, they took the same fish back, removed the toppings, left the tomato residue and brought it back out with the same side; including cold rice. After I clearly stated an allergy, serving the same fish with the tomato residue is unacceptable. This was careless and disappointing. If a customer mentions a food allergy, the dish should be remade, not modified and sent back out.
