Good service, decent prices. Takoyaki: 5/5 this came out hot so be careful but I would get this again. Specialty rolls: the roll with cream cheese had a lot in it. Overall pretty good quality

The food was OK but eel roll was so small and the eel was so crispy burn and bitter. I can't taste the eel. I got surprised of free rolls. I placed order to pick up, the pick up service was quick. Nice ambiance, looks clean.

This place is always a hit. I love how decorative the dishes come out. The staff is super friendly. I love the variety of rolls and have enjoyed all that I have ordered. This is definitely a local spot that I keep visiting.

Sooo impressed with their sushi! Very fresh tasting sushi, good rice to fish ratio (low rice, more fish), and huge variety of rolls. Very good presentation and also free roll or edamame beans included if you order over a certain amount of dollars. Will def be back and recommend this restaurant for fantastic sushi!

Hello this is another great Restaurant I love thst inside the Colesville Shopping Center in Colesville, Maryland in Silver Spring . This place is near by next door To Kedo Oizza and Across the Parking lot area from Dunkin Dinuts , Nash And Smashed and the Polka Deli and market , And JC CRABHOUSE.. This is Nina Sushi Restaurant. This is called the Colesvlle Ninja Sushi . This place has a huge parking lot that soon needs t be repaved . As yu walk inside two double doors you see the hosts front counter cashier host area . This olace has a huge dining area. It has a desk where they have a management desk. In the back this place to the left has a huge sushi bar area where they show how to make the best sushis that people have ever had you cant fjnd anywhere else . On the left in the back they have a concealed kitchen area where they make all your favorite foods you can ever want here you cant fjnd anywhere else . This place has the best staff there you'll ever get to know. I think this lace is Family owned but im still doing research on that as we speak. As the hostess sits you at your table she hands you menus of all sorts of Asian Fantastic Foods you'll love there . They even have take out menus too . The have pick ups at the front counter cashier there too . This place has no wifi . I tried to see if they hire hosts or food runners outside te business. I handed in kt resume in person . I want the jib there without being Judged , Feared or Used bad politics on . I want to get the job there to be someone tgat can bridge all worlds that clje there . I like customer service and customer relations and custkmer interactions to help brng return cusykmer patrons to return . Me and my family have come there on several of occasions before the pandemic struck . But we Americans have to admit it was all of iur faults for the unjustifiable, Inexcusable, Unlawful, Reprehensible, And wrongful behaviors that should hae never have happened. Itshoyld never be Tolerated in any place of business .we all need to make amends and regain Trust in the businesses agaIn such as NINJA SUSHI . This is a place where you'll encounter a bre culture language and heritage that you'll all be something much bigger than yourself . To learn things you've never explored before . Tis is a place to have a great experience you'll never forget there . If you love this place as I do, This place is for you. We all look firward to seeing you all there very soon.once again .i hope to get jobs here to be part of that family to understand another culture and more to become something much bigger than myself someday .if im misding something from my review I appreciate the advice .

Service was friendly. Food was fresh - important especially when it concerns raw food. Had the gooey duck special. Nice but you don't get much. Presentation made it appear much more but it was over ice and lemons. Kinda pricey for what you get. The salmon sashimi was fresh and we had a double order because each one only had 3 pieces. The red snapper is fried but tasted very good when dipped into the sauce. Thought the order comes with either soup or salad. Didn't get any but the fish was served on a bed of assorted greens (which may be considered salad???). They gave us free dessert. Seating nice area and not cramp.

Maki Combo ($18.95)

We ordered the California Roll ($6.50), which was reasonably priced & made well. The OMG Roll ($9.50), which had smoked salmon, tempura eel, and avocado with a wasabi sauce drizzled on top, tasted really good. The Maki combo ($18.95) comes with salmon roll, tuna roll, and yellowtail roll. Everything came out well presented on the plate. A cup hot green tea was $2.95. They even gave us complimentary cake afterwards. Our server, Elaine, had a bit of an attitude and did not really check up on us - so service was a disappointment. They have a parking lot and plenty of seating inside. The place was overall very clean and was decorated really nicely. They also have a small bar for alcohol options as well.

It's nice cute place in a strip mall. We ordered rolls and hibachi. Sushi was good and there are lot of options. However I was little disappointed with the hibachi. The portion was good but the food was bland. The rice, veggies and the chicken all tasted the same. That's my only criticism. Other than that it's a good place to have a lunch or dinner. There is plenty of parking too. Service was good.

FOOD- 5/5 the fire crab roll has to be my favorite of all time it was so good!! We were started with a random appetizer sushi. Everything was just so good and tasted so fresh. Me and my friend came two days in a row because after our first visit, we knew we had to go right back to try a new roll. The plating was so cute too! You can see and taste the efforts. SERVICE- 5/5 made sure we were taken care of perfectly!! AMBIANCE- small but comforting place. Plenty of tables and booths. Highly recommend giving this place a try! Will definitely be back.

Fantastic sushi, decent price and beautiful presentation! Definitely will be back, they had a lot of food options

I think that the customer service was excellent and the chef had charisma, personality, and should do stand up, he was a pleasure and a joy such a guy with rizz. My issue was the food itself as the rice was amazing but did not age well being taken back home for take out, and the chicken and salmon were not as flavorful as a homemade version I would had cooked so there was the blandness. I ended up having digestive issues and got sick for a day or two after eating from here which was disappointing, because the vibe is awesome in this spot and the positive energy is contagious. I felt so relaxed and joyous here. I think the food can be cooked better even though they are generous with excellent portion sizes. I think it is a strong contender for one of the best restaurants in the region if they step the food preparation up. I also did not like this sauce they provided, but it does have better customer service than the typical DMV spots which tend to struggle with the customer service, so they get an A with that making you feel welcomed and respected and not strictly transactional experience, very warm, nice, attentive, diligent, and hard working staff, so they have the bones here, so once they step up the actual food prep and quality then they will be 4 to 5 stars easily. That is all I got!

Even without a reservation, I was seated immediately, which was a great first impression. The service was excellent. Our server mentioned it was her first day, but you would never have guessed as she was attentive, warm, and handled everything beautifully. The food truly stood out. The sushi was fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with high-quality ingredients. The hibachi experience was just as enjoyable. The chef was entertaining, skilled, and added a fun, engaging touch to the meal. The restaurant itself is clean, inviting, and has a great atmosphere that makes you want to stay and enjoy your time. I'll definitely be returning and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great sushi or hibachi experience.

Sushi night in my neck of the woods? Why not?!…read more I'm a huge fan of "hole in the wall" gems, and I think Akagi qualifies for that distinction. What do I mean? Well... It's a place that isn't too big, didn't have a crazy pop, but the food hits just right, every time. It's certainly a gem. Yesterday (Friday night), two friends (one celebrating a bday) and I wanted to get some sushi and keep it pushing. We went to Akagi right up the road and got ordering right away. The service? The staff was so kind and treated us like regulars. Jokes, refills, and the owner personally made us some matcha lattes, that really enhanced our night. The server had a great sense of humor and gave solid recommendations (I got the American dream, imma get it again, too!). Everything was highkey delicious. The ambiance is cool, but I wish more people came through. We didn't have a lot of people close by to sing with us, so I had to show the staff - and half of Rockville - my singing prowess (or lack their of) on the happy bday music. Not the Stevie, if you're wondering. For the bday dessert, we split the tempura cheesecake. It was serious work. Seriously. Not too sweet, but something about the crust being fried with the cheesecake filling just took it over the top. Maaan it was good. The sushi? The sushi?! Fairly priced, big portions, well styled, rocked my socks off with eel sauce. We shared as a table and really just had a ball. Between the service, humor, bday singing, delicious food, and extra attention to detail, this may be a "hole in the wall" fave for years to come. I suggest checking them out and diving head first into the sushi/dessert. Good times/good vibes. Oh and, Happy Bday, Kev!

March 2019: I had a date with this woman I briefly dated who lived in Arlington. It was her first time seeing me on my home tuff, Maryland. Funny her name was the same as my ex-g/f of a year earlier. See my McGinty's Irish Pub review in downtown Silver Spring I just wrote where I reference that ex. My friend called my ex her name #1 & this woman as her name #2. I picked this nice sushi restaurant on this very cold March night. It's a bit of a hole in the wall and on a strange one-way on the back side of Georgia Ave. But in spite of those minor negatives, wow this place was impressive. This is possibly the 2nd best sushi I've ever had. Service was cordial. August 2019: I remembered that Moby Dick was great that I took my relatively new girlfriend at that time. She was impressed with them too. February 2020: On Tuesday, February 25, 2020, my girlfriend took the Metro to DC for work. I dropped her off at the Metro, and after I dropped her off, I realized she left her phone in my car. I tried to turn around to see if she was still there, but she wasn't. So, I took her phone with me to my office. I had both phones with me. I think I let some friends of ours know what was going on. Ultimately, on the evening commute, someone on the Metro was nice to let her borrow his phone. I met up with her. We had a movie too and weren't able to coordinate timing. So, we didn't have time for dinner and went straight to movie. We got popcorn to hold us over; I think it was my birthday popcorn I get from AMC. After the movie, we ate a late dinner at Moby Dick. I knew she had a rough day and was stressful for me too that I wanted to treat her & myself to sushi we knew was good. Once again, Moby Dick didn't disappoint.

The food is made fresh. I know they are known for their souffle pancakes and desserts, but the dinner menu is also delicious. I have had the katsu sandwich and the curry. The sandwich was moist, hot, and had a great texture and flavor. The sauce they use also compliments the meat. The curry is a classic curry. The souffle pancakes are such a treat!! I have had the ube and strawberry flavor. I recommend the strawberry. The ube is good, but the icing on it can get a little overwhelming due to the sheer amount you get and I ended up scraping half of it off. Due to the way they are made to maintain the size and texture, they do have an eggier taste than normal pancakes. I personally enjoy it, but just fair warning if you are particularly sensitive to the taste of eggs. But, they do advertise it as a souffle pancake, so the egg taste is not surprising! This place is always busy and everything is made fresh. It is not fast food! Be prepared for around a 20-minute wait. There is an anime store to browse in the front, but that would be a little hard to do while waiting for your food because securing a seat is a bit of a rat race if you are alone. If you come in a group, have somebody secure a seat first.

Since Maki doesn't accept reservations, I called ahead to put our names on the waitlist. Despite doing so, our party of three still waited approximately 20 minutes for a table. The waiting area was small and crowded, with several parties ahead of us. The interior reminded me of a cozy café in Tokyo's Yurakucho district, featuring tree-patterned wallpaper and red lanterns hanging near the entrance. For beverages, my parents shared hot sake while I ordered hot tea, which was Genmaicha. One thing I appreciated about the menu was the ability to customize ramen, with six broth options and 13 toppings. They also offered vegetarian and gluten-free ramen options, along with specialty dishes such as the Bulgogi Steak Ramen Burger and Curry Bulgogi. We shared five dishes, most of which came recommended by friends: Grilled Baby Octopus - Marinated in a sweet soy sauce and served over lettuce and shredded radish. The flavor was enjoyable and reminded me of a similar dish I had at Shabu & Mein in Boston, although the portion here was noticeably smaller. Vegetable Gyoza - These pan-fried dumplings featured spinach wrappers filled with a mixture of mushrooms, carrots, celery, and cabbage. They were served with gyoza sauce and garnished with scallions. Unfortunately, the filling had a mushy texture that I didn't particularly enjoy. Bulgogi Steak Miso Ramen - Served with thin yellow wheat noodles in a mildly flavored miso and dashi broth. The bowl included a boiled egg, narutomaki (Japanese fish cake), seasoned bamboo shoots, dried seaweed, and scallions. The presentation was appealing, although the broth was fairly mild. Shrimp Tempura Roll - Easily one of the highlights of our meal! The roll featured crispy shrimp tempura, avocado, and lettuce wrapped in rice and seaweed, then topped with caviar and a drizzle of sweet sushi sauce. It was one of the tastiest shrimp tempura rolls I'd had at the time. Sashimi Deluxe - An assortment of five types of sliced fish, including red tuna, salmon, white tuna, scallops, and white fish. While I enjoyed the presentation, the red tuna didn't taste particularly fresh. I did appreciate the accompanying salmon eggs and sticky rice topped with rice seasoning. We were too full to try dessert, but the Dango caught our attention and would be something to consider on a future visit. Overall, Maki Cafe was a mixed experience. The menu offered plenty of variety, and the Shrimp Tempura Roll was definitely a standout. However, the small portions, inconsistent textures, and concerns about the freshness of the tuna kept this from being a higher-rated experience. While there were dishes we enjoyed, others left room for improvement. A decent spot for Japanese comfort food with a few memorable dishes, but the overall experience was somewhat inconsistent.
