Aside from incredible cider at more than fair prices (try the classic, the Mule cider, and the Imperial (if you want more bang in your cider)), Nine Pin is absolutely SPOTLESS inside - so impressed with how clean this place is. Also impressive are their Bavarian pretzels with Cider Cheese, the ambient music, the selection of games to play, and their robust calendar of events. The team members working there are super friendly and knowledgeable. One of the highlights of this visit was watching a couple at a nearby table order a cider flight, and it comes as an impressive display of nine tap offerings framed in a nine-pin bowling pin diamond - WOW!!! Though I am not in Albany often, I do have a few friends in the area and rest assured the next time I am in this city, Nine Pin will be where I ask to meet up with all of my friends. I really like this place! Food is good. Had some of the apps and pizzas. Nothing remarkable, but still great overall! Cider flight was fun. I also like that they do offer real cocktails. Given my strong opinions on supermarket apples and apple picking, it's no surprise that an alcohol-containing formulation of this fruit gets me talking. Nine Pin serves up excellent cider and impeccable service. Flights are available with four or nine varieties. Signature started things off, signaling that Nine Pin is a purist, or at least traditionalist, rather than a drinkable dessert purveyor. (Availability may vary; Yelpers aren't legally liable for enticing descriptions of beverages that may not be available during your visit). Per the above disclaimer, I feel vaguely guilty about mentioning W.A.R.P., as I may have been there for the final days of this fall offering. which isn't currently listed on the website. This stands for Wild Apples of the Rensselaer Plateau and it lived up to the iconoclastic description. Pear was smooth and subtle. Given Nine Pin's proclivities, Black Cherry may have been the perfect match, sweeter than its peers but not cloying. An encore 4-drink flight meant a tough choice in skipping one of the 9, but the knowledgeable and generous bartender (cidertender? cider king?) gave me a sample of a hops variety (exact name forgotten) that was very appealing. I had feared it would be too close to beer. Belgian, which is Signature fermented with Belgian Abbey Ale Yeast, felt sort of beer-adjacent so it was my least favorite. Ginger Mule was enjoyable, sweet than expected. Imperial was like the movie PCU, great start but lost some appeal by the end. Cranberry was refreshing, one level less sweet than cherry. Since too much positivity is boring, I'll end on this note: why doesn't "the world's greatest city" have a place like this? Wallingford, Salem and Wallkill can enjoy cider flights but NYC? Oh well, at least the brilliant Nine Pin Cider is only a PATH, Amtrak and two buses away. read more

The ciders were a 10000/10 which all the different flavors, but the fall ones are the best of them all. Very disappointed on the mozzarella sticks and just had an off taste that tastes like freezer. Skip those! I'll come back again, but this time I'll just stick to the ciders!!!! read more

Nine Pin Cider is a great place to go to meet up with an old friend or a group to gab. They have both indoor and outdoor seating and low and high top tables. Their service was super friendly, you order as you walk in prior to seating yourself. We tried two seasonal flavors - Apple Pie-Secco and Ginger Beer (both ciders, of course). I'm not a huge apple pie person but loved my drink. It's definitely on the sweeter side, good for those who want drinks to taste like juice. The Ginger Beer was pretty similar, just without the sweetness. My partner and I lost track of who was drinking what at one point. I'd definitely come back to try their other flavors and their food. What an awesome spot! They have a large variety of ciders on tap. We did the taste test of 9 flavors and they gave us 2 additional on the side. They have a smaller taste testing as well. They came in these cute metal apple holders. The staff was super friendly and helpful. They had live music and a large variety of areas to sit. They had a more secluded room inside, a large indoor area with picnic tables closer to where the musicians played and an outdoor uncovered table area when weather permits. They allow dogs and there were several well behaved puppies there when we went. There is street parking which was a little tricky when crowded but we did find a spot quickly. Came here to see a friend play & enjoy the live music. Couldn't decide between two ciders (Peach Bellini & Honey Hibiscus) so they gave me a six oz. pour of each for $12 - Yummy! We hired Nine Pin's Mobil Bar to cater our wedding, and they went ABOVE AND BEYOND to make it the most incredible day for our guests. First of all, they invited us up to the cidery in Albany to taste their ciders and beers to make our selections. They were so flexible in their offerings that it was hard to choose! They offered to serve cider & beer, cider, beer & wine, or cider, beer, wine & cocktails. To stay within our budget, we chose their cider, beer & wine option. The ciders & beers were Nine Pin brews (obvs), and the wine they personally selected from local wineries (I loved that all of our vendors were local, especially since so many of our guests were coming in from out-of-state or out-of-the-country. I felt like this gave them a real New York experience). Jessica, our main contact, was amazing. When we couldn't make up our minds on the beers, she offered to let us come back and try a few more when new taps were added to their menu. We drove up to find two growlers waiting for us, which we happily tried and shared with friends to make our final choice (and while we were there, we of course bought some food and some cider packs. It was delicious). Their communication was impeccable - Jessica answered every single email promptly and clearly and left us feeling like we were in the best hands. And on the BIG DAY, they showed up in the most adorable trailer, ready to serve. They definitely called "last call" way later than they needed to, for which we are eternally greatful. Although we stopped early on Saturday morning around 11 when they open, this is a great place for somebody who exercises early in the morning and starts their day is ready for a nice beverage on the weekend. I'm so glad I returned to this place because I was pleasantly surprised at the expansion, not only of the physical Attributes and seating options but also of the menu, including both beer cider and mixed drinks. We had a great server by the name of John. It was upbeat and hopeful, and allowed us to have a tasting before purchasing. I totally fell in love with the peach cider, and my spouse had the peach ring which was peach cider vodka, and simple syrup, which was delicious. Although we didn't eat here they had some nice small vegan vegetarian options as well as sweets. What can I say. I am a big fan. I don't drink cider much, at least not as much as I drink beer, wine, and whisky. However, Nine Pin has changed my feelings towards Cider. I love that they are local, and source local ingredients. I love their original and ginger cider. I will sometimes mix a shot of vodka with the cider, and you got an amazing cocktail, so yummy and tasty and easy to make. Their tap room is so cool, and so inviting and cozy. I like to go there when it is not too crowded and sip some of the seasonal brews. They had a pineapple one my neighbor gave me, who works there, and I was like WHOA! Wish they had that always. This place is great, and I will say this.... When I was in Austin, TX, I sampled some cider from a new brewery down there. The lady asked me what I though, and I said, "meh." I told her, only because I am spoiled rotten having some of the best cider in the world just down the street from where I live in upstate NY. I just tried their apple pie that I got at whole foods, and I am in love with a new flavor. I actually just tried some of it mixed with a little whisky, wow! I love Nine Pin, I do. I have been going here since they opened. HOWEVER. It is kind of unbearable when it's hot out. If you, like me, are sensitive to the heat, there is no respite. It's all outdoor space or barely cooled warehouse space. I am super sad to say this, but I just can't hang when it's hot. There is no where to go to be comfortable. Now, for a majority of people, I'm sure it's all well and good. But, just gotta throw out that warning for my heat sensitive kith. Nine Pin, please consider a way to mitigate this for those of us who are not able to hang in higher temps. Other than that, friendly staff, good food, good ciders, fun space, cool activities. Special thank you to Cara and the management team at Nine Pin for reaching out about my last post. Our last experience at Nine Pin was great but unfortunately ended poorly. The management team was quick to respond and worked closely with us to get our problem resolved which I totally appreciate. We returned to Nine Pin on a clear and sunny 32F day in February to have a campfire experience. Arriving at 4:30 pm to a busy Sunday afternoon we were greeted by Callie our campfire attendant, she explained the do's & don'ts of being around the fire safely. We thoroughly enjoyed it, the vegan veggie pizza was great, the cider was cool and crisp, and the vegan s'mores package (shout out to Primo Botanica in Troy) made for the perfect finishing touches as the sun set that evening. Callie was super helpful and courteous serving up cider and keeping our fire stoked. Tony was great too delivering our pizza to the table and when we cashed out our bill back inside. Again, to the management team and staff working hard on a busy Sunday afternoon on February 20, 2022 - thank you for the very special day! I went to an amazing Drag Show here on October 13th. I love a good event. The food and drink were amazing. I'm a stickler for presentation and quality food. The charcuterie did not disappoint. Just look at the pictures attached. Honey drizzled apple slices, salted crackers,kalamata olives, pepperoni roses, sage cheddar,brie, smoked gouda, and a soft cheese with a spicy kick, there was even pickled onions and a jam. I went here for an OYE about a month ago and learned a little about cider. My daughter was up from the city recently and wanted to try this place because they are distributors down in the city and she liked their cider. It is a welcoming little place down on Broadway with board games to play and cute dogs that customers let tag along. Who doesn't love a place that welcomes your dog? We ordered a variety of ciders, a nine flight. Unfortunately I found that I am not a cider fan so I opted for a New York Pilsner, which was perfect for me. As my daughter was tasked to drink all of them, she tried each variety of the ciders she chose, she didn't have anything bad to say about any of them. She loved them all! We also had a couple of fierce battleship games while chillin and taking our time, savoring the drinks and friendly atmosphere. Super friendly staff are ready to answer your questions with enthusiasm and they love to share their knowledge of their unique ciders. Love me a good cidery (ciderey? ciderie?) and I love the color green... so this really checks off all of the boxes! Really do enjoy the ambiance of this place. The outside area (still covered) has fire pits and more of that tall chair vibe. The inside is a bit more formal (or as formal gets for a cider house) with proper tables and chairs. They have a fair selection of ciders (which is to be expected) as well as some beers from other brewers. I went for a cider flight! They have a few different sizes, but I got the flight of 9 because I LIKE TO TRY THINGS, OK!? If we're being honest many of the ciders tasted the same to me (not bad, just the same), but there were a few standouts. The cranberry and the blueberry peach cobbler were definitely on that list! My first night in Albany, I stopped by Nine Pin Cider for some drinks before dinner. Located in a cool stretch of town with several bars and restaurants, I parked on the side of the cidery. They have a couple of spots there or you can find parking on the street. This was actually my first time checking out a cidery so I was excited for all it had to offer. As I made my way to where you order, I looked over my options and decided to go with their flights where you can try out nine of their ciders. I'm all about the variety and everything sounded great so I had to catch them all like Pokemon. The best part is that the flights are served in an apple-shaped serving tray. How cool and perfect for a place like this! You also get a piece of paper with a description of each one of the ciders. Service was friendly and helpful and I liked the vibe here with several different rooms for seating. Since you get nine ciders with your flights and they're each a good amount, it's better to share between two people. I was feeling it after downing them all myself! read more

I have never been to Nine Pin, really never had the cider much either, but mentioned going while we were at Druthers down the way and we all decided to go grab a flight. They have some parking but I can imagine it being hard to find a spot on a nice weekend. The outdoor area, entrance, tap room, everything is so well decorated, cute and inviting. I just enjoyed the feeling of walking in there with the bright greens and cool artwork. The staff was very pleasant and helpful in choosing a flight. I must admit, I do not like cider. Why did I want to come? Simple - Local cidery, good reviews, must visit! To my delight, they actually offered quite a few beers for tasting as well! I went with trying 3 of their dryer ciders and one IPA they offered. The flight was $7, not a bad deal. We sipped on them for about 30 minutes for our visit. Everyone's favorite cider was the "Dark n Stormy". It was nice they also offer snacks, such as hand pies and cheese plates. Very cool! The only cider I didn't like was the watermelon cherry sour, but that is expected since I normally dislike watermelon flavors. They are neither too sweet nor too dry for my taste. Strawberries. Throw in some unexpected ingredients like ginger, mulling spices, sumac cones, cinnamon, teas, honey, vanilla, rum aging barrels, chai spice and you get an understanding of how delicious and varied these ciders are, and why Nine Pin Cider is such a cool place. I loved the chill vibe here - two big rooms with lots of seating options, Jenga and games, super friendly staff, 28 ciders crafted on premises, an impressive selection of local beers on tap, great music, and a kitchen with some pretty good food selections. Ciders can be purchased a few different ways - in a 6 oz. pour, a 12 oz. pour, and in 2 different sized flight samplers (4 and 9 choices). I did a 4 taste flight ($6.48) and can honestly say I enjoyed every single sip. Wonderful taste, not too sweet, not too sour, they were all terrific. Our group also had a few beers ($6 or $7), a 6 oz. pour of one cider ($3.24, a four -pack of Signature Cider to go ($11.11), and a terrific charcuterie plate ($14.81). That snack plate was outstanding- 2 kinds of salami, 2 kinds of cheese, crackers, almonds, stone ground mustard, and pickled strawberries ! The apples come from 1/2 hour away in Niverville, NY. I was disappointed that the factory was not actually doing canning. Also, early in the week you should have, all, the flavors on tap. Ciders are good. Sour not saccharine-like sweet. The Nine Pin original (#1) is the best, crisp green sour apple hints. The 'Lazr Crabz' (#5) is a mix of cranberry and apple, and although not my fave, was sipable. It reminds one of rose wine. Nine Pin makes beers, wines and ciders with berries and funky names. The serious Cons: - The owner had a long psychedelic lounge, without a 'hello' to me or either of the 2 other full tables. TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE!! - The late-arriving 'afternoon owner' also shows up in a Maine 'Sea Dog' (distant Portland, Maine brewery) shirt. Do you represent New York at all? What can I say, Nine Pin's the apple of my eye. Aside from kickass, innovative ciders, it's certainly very on-brand, and thus Yelp-approved, because it's made from apples that are 100% sourced from in and around the Capital District, with a soft spot for the owner's hometown (Chatham / Kinderhook, NY). Furthermore, it's New York's First Farm Cidery, which warrants huge bragging rights. Its founder was a pioneer in New York's craft beverage game, and it's location in downtown Albany is a huge benefit when working with lawmakers to revolutionize New York State's craft beverage industry, and ignite the economy by operating under licenses geared towards producing with New York businesses. Clearly, I'm no stranger to Nine Pin, as I've been a number one fan since their inception in 2015, so it's about time I show them some love on the Yelposhpere. Since 2020 is the year of the third Nine Pin 26er Challenge, what better time than to write a review on one of my all-time favorite Albany products/hangs, and you'd better believe I'm going for gold this year (I've successfully completed the initial two challenges, so I've earned my bronze and silver status, so don't @ me.) The 26er Program is pretty cool: every two weeks for an entire year, Nine Pin releases a different craft cider. Show up to the cidery with your punch card and give it a try! Commit for the entire year, and earn bragging rights and a slew of other cool prizes, incentives, and benefits. I think this is such a fun way to engage with the community, and each year participation steadily grows. The program launched in 2016, with 325 finishers (yours truly was included in that first bushel!); year two commenced in January 2018, and 669 ciderheads made it to the finish line. How many will finish this year? Stay tuned! So whether you take your cider as a serious competitor, or as a leisure participant, one thing is for sure: you can't go wrong with a Nine Pin Cider. Came to the cider source of NY. I have seen nine pin cider in the shelves of so many supermarkets but was finally able to make it to their cidery. I asked the staff who helped me to pick 4 for the flight and all of them were spot on. All the ciders tasted great. We even got one of their famous thin crust sourdough pizza. Love the tasting room and it was finally warm enough to sit outside today and learn that all the 26er series ciders are on untapped!!!!! That way I can keep track of all the flavors and how I felt about them on a ranking. We also tried the lemon drop hop and the watermelon hop from nine pin. The watermelon tastes very subtlety of watermelon but smells like fresh picked hops. The lemon drop has less ibus but a great refreshing citrus flavor. We thought number 8 tasted like cider until t started to warm up and taste a little more like melon.
