    Marquis. Love it.

The good: 1. Tons of free parking in back with a security guard watching the lot! 2. Super nice people working here. Davi at the front counter is a real treat! 3. Real melted butter popcorn! 4. Special limited edition showings here. The bad: 1. Shows tons of age and not in a good way. 2. No free WiFi and it's difficult even getting a 3G signal here. 3. Ticket prices are too high for the quaility of this place. 4. No stadium seating. 5. Screens are small and seats are old. 6. Very few urinals/stalls for a theater with 8 screens. The 2 men's rooms had a total of 3 urinals and 2 stalls. That's pretty much it really. I'd return to see a special limited screening, but outside of that, I would definitely go elsewhere to a modern theatre with cuttting edge sound and typical modern amenities.

This theater is the best around this area because of the artsy/independent movies they play and the ambiance. Nothing like the spectrum for a movie and a delicious dessert; my favorites there is the carrot cake and the mint brownie. But it's all very good. The only theater around that has real butter popcorn and who can go there and not get some of that hah. I can't forget the hot chocolate but it was a warm day today so I had to pass on that one. Make a day of it and enjoy other neat mom and pop stores in the area if possible.

After being closed for eight months since April 20 24. I really enjoy going to this theater. The staff is helpful and friendly. Great that you can have a meal while watching a movie. I've tried the pizza and cheeseburger and french fries. Very good and reasonably priced. This is a great independent theater in the Pine Hills area of Albany. Please go out and support the Theatre. The owners are trying very hard and people need to come out in large enough numbers so the Theatre can break even financially make a small profit would be great as well. They have trivia night on Fridays. So just come on out see a movie. Enjoy eating something during the film or before you go in to the theater. Keep the movie magic going up on the silver screen.

Then a few minutes after that another patron came back in after trying to get his money back to announce that the movie was not going to play at all. There was no manager or anyone at the theater that knew how to start the movie!!! The poor cashier was on the phone with someone directing him how to scramble for money to give people cash back. I think they even used the bar tips. Incredible. It was obvious that there were only catering to the bar crowd that were doing a trivia night in the lobby. Don't waste your time and money with this place.

Thanks for a great experience! :) Almost forgot: only critique is the drink carriers need improvement. Each carrier only holds two drinks and the handle is impossible to reach comfortably. It was super clunky to distribute in the theater too(glad I didn't drop any fumbling around) I was told you have to hold it from the bottom anyway because they're not to be trusted so i ended up just hugging the drinks anyway since i was carrying 4 plus popcorn haha.

Escalator requires a longer walk, as you have to take one staircase, then walk a bit to get on the 2nd escalator. Elevator opens to you being right at the ticket & snack area on the 3rd floor. LOTS of accessible seating in the theaters, but a light blanket might be needed as it's chilly. Women's bathrooms have 2 accessible stalls, but tile floors which might be slippery for some. As I was heading home, I passed the theater and saw on the marquee Mad Max was starting in ten minutes. Not the new Mad Max mind you, the original. Movies are meant to be seen on the big screen. Some are fine at home, but I don't have a man cave and I don't turn the sound up loud. Going into a theater is an immersive experience and really helps you to focus on the picture. Amazingly, even on a Saturday night, including myself there were only three people in the audience. And for a moment there I thought I was going to have a private showing. Part of that may be that despite the sign suggesting a 9:30 start time, the box office looked closed. And when I tried to suggest to the lady behind the concession stand that I'd like to see a movie, she didn't quite seem prepared to sell me a ticket. And when I asked where to head from there, she had to once again leave to find out. It was really quite odd. Also odd were the ratting and banging noises coming from the air conditioning grates in the ceiling of theater four. Once the action picked up, it wasn't quite as distracting as I had feared, but I hope they get it fixed. Much like I hope they get the theater cleanliness fixed. Because there was an empty soda can in the arm rest left over from a prior showing. Like I said, none of these things will prevent me from going back. I love seeing older movies on the big screen. But it could explain why the place wasn't more busy. I'll look forward to awarding this theater a fifth star as it grows and becomes a vital part of the community.

First, I want to get this out of the way: the space is teeny-tiny, so you're not going to make a day of it. You might not even make a half-hour of it. For someone who really loves wandering around galleries and museums it feels a little like being served exactly five potato chips. However, the art on display is legitimately really interesting and worth seeing. Right now the exhibition includes prints, sculptures, and a motorized sound installation that was really cool to look at, even though we didn't get to see it in action (the artist wasn't there when we were). I'm really looking forward to coming back here post-covid to attend some of the musical performances and other events that the Opalka gallery runs -- in the summer of 2019 they were hosting an outdoor beer garden with art and music that I really regret never having checked out when I had the chance! Post script: COVID procedures are scrupulously followed here, so be prepared to fill out a contact-tracing form and have your temperature taken before you can check out the art.
