Getting super expensive but still delicious! Love the garlic parm and volcano fries!!!

In between games at my son's baseball tournament nearby, I took my boy and his teammate for some wings. I like to avoid chains at all costs and support local businesses, so this came up when the boys said they were jonesing for wings. Really cute place in a residential neighborhood. We ordered Buffalo wing bites and mozzarella sticks. Good flavor & tasty with a nice amount of heat. (I lived in Western NY for years - I know my wings!) They were generous with the ranch dressing as well. (My kid doesn't like blue cheese dressing - weirdo!) Good mozzarella sticks had that Gen Z-pleasing "cheese-pull!" The owner was kind & welcoming and the service was quick & friendly. A great place to refuel hungry athletes! (Or anyone who loves boneless wings!) Do NOT order delivery. I am a frequent customer, but my pizza was ready for pickup at 12:31. The chow now driver didn't arrive until 1:33. Its an 11 minute drive. Pizza ice cold. Driver was rude. Never again. read more

The swrver/front desk woman was sweet. She told us how the place works!, what was special and what they're known for. She brought over the tsnle settings, took our order etc. At the same time id say half dozen people came in for to omgonorsers and she was polite to all. My clients picked this spot to get lunch, and it was called in. I ordered the turkey sub. When I arrived I parked on the street nearby. I walked in and was greeted. The food was ready and I paid. The nice staff helped me to my car because there was a lot of food, which I appreciated. When I ate the sub, it was tasty and very filling! My clients enjoyed as well. So, my daughter raved and recommended the chicken bites at Nina's. We ordered to pick up on our way to the establishment. The chicken bites have a number of sauces, and my daughter ordered garlic Parmesan. I ordered the sweet and spicy because I didn't hear all of the flavors as the young lady on the phone quickly went through the list. We arrived at a cute and clean local pizza place and gave our name for the pick up order. The place was empty, but busy with phone orders and a few people that stopped in to pick up their orders. On the way back to my daughter's house, we stopped at Walmart and I picked up a salad to accompany my chicken bites... Now for the intel... for $7, you get a container filled to the gills with bite-sized pieces of chicken that are fried but not heavily breaded. The sauces elevate the meat and keep the bites somewhat moist. The sweet and spicy sauce was okay (not spicy enough for me), but the garlic Parmesan was kickassssssss!!!! The garlic was pronounced and I could smell it before I put it in my mouth. Delicious! I now know what to ask for when I visit. The portions are big, and the chicken bites are great. In the future, I will try other sauces on the menu and have a feeling that Nina's will be my go-to place when I am in Scranton. read more

Let's get this out of the way, the quality of chicken is very good. I can say with all honesty I have never had a rubbery or chewy piece of chicken. I don't mind paying a bit extra for better quality. However that being said, one order of limited time pumpkin wing bites with celery and blue cheese is now over $18. Sticker shock is a huge understatement. It will not stop me from going there, but it will limit my visits to not as frequent. Tasty...yes, overpriced..absolutely. read more

What used to be a decent place for pizza and wing bites has been reduced to poor products at a high price. -Hot Wing Pizza ($23): Plain crust with light sauce, cheese, and shredded chicken. Hot was selected but the flavor lacked. I had to add sauce. Metallic taste from chicken, maybe canned? Filling-yes. Worth the price-Not even close! -Square half plain and half pepperoni w/sweet sauce ($18.50): Plain crust, heavy sauce with metallic sweet taste, uneven distribution of cheese, limited pepperoni, sprinkling of oregano for appearance (didn't help the flavor) Nina's is not what it was. I don't recommend either Dunmore or Clarks Summit unless they take action to fix their substandard quality. read more

My last review was a weak one that I left probably while I was bored during an internship. I was so many years detached from the restaurant that it wasn't really fair to leave it with such scant details. Recently, I had the chance to try Nina's again during my NEPA pizza tour and I view the restaurant more favorably, though with more specific criticism. Their NY style pizza is pretty good. Nice cheese blend, sauce is fine--the complaint everyone at my table had was that the crust was too firm. Not overcooked, just the bottommost layer was hard. We really needed to rip into it with our teeth, which was almost a nonstarter for the 90-year-old at the table. [Less than ten minutes passed between me being handed the pizza and my serving it to my family.] Despite the minor infraction, the sausage and pepper pizza was among the best I've had in the area. Really generous portioning of the sausage which was decent quality. The Old Forge style was also totally fine and we enjoyed it. So why 3 stars? For a place known for wings (which I despise as a food group), the hot wing pizza doesn't hold up. There was an ample amount of chicken but there was no care in how it was portioned. Some pieces of pizza had two chunks of chicken, others paved with chicken such that they were difficult to eat. The chicken quality was very low. I am sorry to say it but you could taste that chemical/frozen aftertaste with every bite. I just reheated 3 pieces for lunch to make sure and I had trouble eating any pieces I plucked from the pizza and tried to eat individually. Most of them don't even look appetizing. I had to spit out some of the chunks because they contained gristle. For $21 considering the quality of chicken they're using, the hot wing pizza is kind of embarrassing. My advice is to buy a tray from Samario's in comparison and see what conclusions can be reached among those drinking kool-aid. read more

One word to describe Nina's is inconsistent. They never fail to either forget to give you blue cheese or tell you the food will be ready in 30 minutes when in all actuality they have it ready in 15 minutes and it's ice cold by the time you get home. One time I ordered an Italian hoagie, got home and took a bite out of it and there was no meat on it. I called them back and they told me to bring it back and they would make me a new one. So I drove all the way back, and 10 minutes later I got the hoagie. When I got home it was the same bun with the bite missing with meat on it. If you are looking for a "hot" wing sauce, they do not have it. You order hot and always get medium. read more

Their food is okay but their customer service is non-existent. I sent this on 3 days ago in response the the "thank you" email I received and have yet to receive a reply. If you don't get what you order, what's the point in ordering? See below for the 3 fails of the teenagers who "work" in this location. This was the first time I ordered online, and I am very disappointed. I paid for an extra side of hot wing sauce, and didn't get it. I ordered a chicken cheese steak, it shows on my receipt as chicken but the sandwich was beef. There was no marinara sauce with my crisps. What will you do to compensate me for these 3 failures of your staff? Oh- and I called at 8:28, and was on hold for over 5 min. Hoagie update: tried an Italian hoagie the other day and it was ok. It was a little smaller than expected and a little bit dry. Boneless chicken bites and plain round pizza were still solid, so will probably just stick with those for now. read more

Had the cheesesteak hoagie for lunch. At first, I was impressed by its gargantuan size. It was absolutely huge. However, when I unwrapped it, I was quickly disappointed. First, the filling was not enough for the amount of bread. Second, the steak was just unseasoned minute steak that wasn't even chopped up, but laid flat on the bread and a slice of American cheese on it. It was bland and disappointing. Would not order again. To be fair, I have had their wing bites several times in the past, and they were always good. Stay away from the cheesesteak. You'll get better almost anywhere else in the valley. read more

This is one of my two favorite places for boneless wings. Simply awesome and delicious. I'm super picky, so I don't understand why people don't like these and leave bad reviews. The boneless bites are lightly breaded and cooked to perfection every time. One thing to keep in mind though, is that they will be less crispy if you take them to go. If you eat them there fresh, they will be hot and crispy and that's how I typically eat mine. I love the hot sauce and the mild is really excellent too. The white pizza is awesome and so are both the round and square varieties of red pizza. As mentioned in previous reviews, the subs are HUGE, so be careful how you order. The regular wings are pretty good too, but I prefer other establishments for regular wings, however Nina's is my favorite for boneless. The prices are typical for the area (inexpensive) and you can feed a lot of people for not a lot of money. Go here and enjoy some delicious boneless wing bites!!! read more

(Italian Style****, Hot Wing, Double Crust and Chicken Parm) Several variety of Hoagies including Italian, Steak, Chicken Steak, Cheese, Porketta, Veggie, Hot and Sweet Sausage, Homemade Meatballs, Hot Wings, Club, Cheese Burger and BLT on 14in Rolls. Open face sandwiches and fries. (Volcano fries - Cheese and Hot Wing Sauce) Salads with homemade dressings (Balsamic, Caesar**** and Blue Cheese) Wings and Wing Bites seem to be the local favorite. Disappointed. I asked for lightly cooked an I got a burnt pizza. I got there and half if my order was ready but my pizza was not so I waited in the place for 20 minutes til I got my pizza. Then when I explained to them I asked for lightly cooked and not burnt she asked if I asked an I said yeah. She told me that the reason it burns like that is because they use American cheese. Which I don't understand I've never had American cheese on any pizza I've ever eaten it's always been mozzarella. They said they would make me another one which would be a few minutes which I didn't believe her because it took for ever for my pizza in the first place. This place is a dumb. Stopped in for a carryout order. The shop is small but the sandwich I got was huge. I ordered the large chicken parm hoagie, and it was definitely one of the better ones I have had in many years. Chicken cutlet breading was crisp, hoagie roll was toasted, sauce was outstanding. Lots of provolone. My one mistake was miscalculating how large the sandwich would be. Its definielty on the large side, and if you are a normal sized person, you can probably make two or three meals out if it. Not a bad deal at all for $10.07.
