When we walked in the smell of collard greens filled our nostrils--YUM. We were greeted by Terrance, who is very friendly and helpful. The menu selections are listed on the wall. We chose two rib dinners, a fried chicken dinner and a steak dinner. We were told it would take about 20 minutes (it was actually ended up being a little less) as the food is made-to-order. The ribs were fall off the bone delicious and meaty. The collard greens were tender and flavorful and the baked mac n cheese was perfect. I didn't try the steak, but it got rave reviews by my boyfriend as did the fried chicken. I recommend take out, as there aren't too many places to sit and eat. There is one small high top table as well as a big, comfy leather couch, sofa and chair. There is a long coffee table near the furniture, not sure if you'd want to eat there, but its an option. Unlike Kentucky Fried Chicken or other similar restaurants, an entire meal at Crown Fried Chicken will end up costing about $5 per person. There's a reason Crown Fried Chicken in Downtown Wilkes-Barre was recently named as the Best Lunch on a Budget by the Diamond City. An advantage this Crown Fried Chicken has over other franchise locations is the size. While the restaurant is only open for takeout, there is enough room to wait comfortably in line or for your meal without having to stand out in the parking lot. The men behind the counter are all very nice and hard-workers. Crown Fried Chicken closes very late and opens early in the morning.
