I was looking for a new doctor, Dr Hunko was highly recommended. I work hard sadly my job doesn't offer great insurance it is with high deductible. So I had seen Hunko a few times and of course had a balance. So when I went in for my appointment she was at reception area when her staff was charging me, i told them I could not pay all my bill. I heard her tell them I had to pay my bill. I understand about money but I work in healthcare and to me nothing is more important than people. I guess not everyone thinks that way. I am looking for a new doctor as we speak. We are living sad times in healthcare. read more

Dr. Mehta graced me with about 4 minutes of his precious time today. I found him to be dismissive and not interested in answering my questions/addressing my issues. I spent more time parking my car than I did in the office with him. I am a veteran and have Tricare insurance. He made sure to tell me that Tricare is terrible insurance and no doctors want to take it. He won't have to worry about Tricare or me again. He's not the only doctor in town. read more

My 93 year old mother has been seeing Mehta for 20+ years. She had spent 5 days in the hospital in July and came out very, very weak. She has needed 24/7 care since her release, which she had not needed before, even though macular degeneration had left her blind; she has also required a walker the last 2 years. She was finally approved for physical therapy which started weeks after her release. She slowly began to gain some strength after 2 months of physical therapy. She was evaluated by a nurse after 2 months and it was recommended she continue physical therapy for another 2 months. The agency stated she needed approval from her physician for 2 more months of physical therapy which she definitely continued to require. An appointment was made for her to seek this approval despite it being a continued MAJOR effort for her to go to Dr. Mehta's office as the office is ADA non compliant. No disabled parking spots in parking lot and you have to climb an uphill incline to get to the office doors. I have to push my mother on her walker to help her make it to the door to the office building after which she is very winded and weak. I can't push a wheelchair as the incline is so steep. When the request for Mehta to approve 2 months of additional physical therapy, he said "No". When asked why, he said agencies were taking advantage of the Medicare system and stating physical therapy was recommended when patients were not in need. We were in disbelief as my blind, weak 93 old mother, who had been slowly improving with physical therapy, was told he would not approve more physical therapy which was the only thing helping my Mom gain her pre-hospitalization strength back, not to mention being more emotionally positive about her recovery as she saw her physical improvement.We were in disbelief!! His own belief and agenda were clouding what his patient needed. I am a 33 year experienced social worker and have never seen a physician not approve what is best for a patient in need, but I live in Austin, where competent physicians actually care about their patients recovery. Mehta's personal beliefs of what has occurred in the medical system may be the case in some situations but is definitely not warranted in my Mother's case. I understand there may be fraudulent claims but my Mother's agency assessment of what is needed is not fradulant and whatever private thoughts/agenda Mehta has, is preventing my Mother's recovery. Needless to say, we are seeking a physician who cares about their patients and invested in their recovery. read more

Dr. Mehta also graced me with about four minutes of his precious time today. He does not listen he seemingly know what's wrong with you when he enters the examination room. First he asked why I am sad then he asked what's wrong third he listened through a thick knitted sweater and undershirt at my lungs and concluded my lungs are just fine nevertheless he prescribed, Not taking any blood or looking in my mouth checked my neck or checking my nose or ears or temperature but prescribed Antibiotics, a steroid and some pills as needed for cough. Again he knows if it's bacterial or a viral infection just by listening 30sec, as previously said with my rather thick clothing on, to my lungs. Point being that antibiotics only work on bacterial infections The reason I went there was I am short of breath, coughing, stuffy runny nose and my head feels kind of numb which makes me dizzy plus my lungs are stinging and a fever of 99.2. Please don't think, he or the nurse who took my blood pressure and oxygen level, which apparently was great, took my temperature. No, was not done the previous two visits totaling three visits this year either! I don't recommend this doctor his practice and demeanor as a physician is very poor! read more
