Pork bowl

This was incredible I'll definitely be back on Tuesday's for their free double protein!

Bleu J.

Finally made it out to POST Houston for the first time and decided to try Nikubol after seeing them on Instagram. I'm glad I did! As someone who's vegan, I really appreciated having a solid plant-based option that didn't feel like an afterthought. I ordered the portobello mushroom bowl with rice, peppers, red cabbage, daikon, seaweed salad, and peas. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and had a great mix of textures. The mushrooms were seasoned well and made for a really satisfying meal. The restaurant itself has a cool vibe with awesome artwork, and the staff was friendly while getting my order together. It was the perfect stop before finishing the night with karaoke at POST I'll definitely be back to explore more of the menu next time I'm there. If you're looking for a fresh filling plant-based meal at POST, I'd definitely recommend giving Nikubol a try

The Hat Trick Cup

Had plans to attend a play with my daughter so we stoped into Post for dinner before hand. I got The Hat Trick Cup that's new for the World Cup specials. It came with a drink that had a bowl on top with fries, popcorn chicken and Takoyaki. The drink I got was the lychee Rose. It was kinda sweet for me but my daughter liked it minus the rose petals she choked on. The fries were fries and the chicken was ok. It tasted like it was fried in the same frier as the seafood options. I am allergic to seafood so I normally ask before if everything is fried in the same grease but I wasn't paying attention to that. I also didn't know what Takoyaki was till now. I assumed it was a fried batter of some sort and it is but it also includes pieces of octopus. It would have been nice if it said that on the menus. Luckily I only had one bite because I could taste the fishyness then saw the tentacle with suckers and put the rest down. I did have to spend some time in the restroom during intermission but it wasn't too bad. All the things they had looked so good and everything smelt wonderful but I probably won't be back just because of the seafood allergy. I did however love the decor and the servers were really nice.

Short rib with pineapple

This Canadian-based fast casual restaurant only has 2 locations, with the one in the US at the Post Houston food court. Their prices are about 1.5x as expensive as Chipotle for reference, but you get premium ingredients and a lot more protein options with beef tongue and eel being two of the more pricy proteins. The one protein you can't get in Houston is Duck Breast, unfortunately. Instead of getting a nearly $20 bowl, you can sort of dine on a budget with their Japanese style fare if you only pick the yaki bomb fries. I tried the short rib with grilled pineapple and pork with scallions bowls and ended up getting a drink at another food vendor since their selection is sort of limited. I think they mostly do Pepsi along with their array of sparking fruit concoctions for around $7 each. Their Canadian location has a Chinese-style sweet tea; I wonder why the heck they didn't bring that to Texas where we love sweet tea. The short rib bowl was the better bowl but it was also more expensive as you would expect. You get to choose 5 add-ins, too bad it's not unlimited. I chose white rice as a base, then added an egg (similar to egg in ramen) kimchi, seaweed salad, Japanese potato salad and sliced zucchini. The weirdest part for me was only the meat and rice are hot/warm, while your 5 toppings are served cold. If you can get over that, you will enjoy your meal. There was 1 slice of grilled pineapple (also served warm) in the bowl and I guess it was nice as a garnish mainly. If you're looking to get your Japanese bowl fix, this is the place to come right now until someone else comes along and does better.

Mentaiko chicken + onsen egg + roasted pumpkin chunks + butter corn)

New Chipotle-style spot but for yakiniku donburi. Aptly named-- they really load up on the niku. For a grab-and-go spot, not bad! We swung by the POST for our last day in Houston. Setup is simple, only a counter and two tables for seating. Clean and tidy. Staff are courteous and efficient. MENTAIKO CHICKEN (house salad base, butter corn + roasted pumpkin chunks + onsen egg, OG sweet glaze): The chicken is surprisingly good! Light mentaiko imparts an additional umami flavor. The toppings including the onsen egg are pre-made and cold. House salad is fine, it's just spring mix. Looks like this is one of several locations across the US and Canada. I haven't seen this type of donburi build-your-own franchise before. Interested to see how this concept takes off?

Chicken Nikubol

3.5 stars I noticed that Nikubol is a new restaurant on my meal delivery app. We ordered a beef rice/salad bowl and a chicken rice/salad bowl. The bowls are packed and delivered a satisfying meal. I really enjoyed the ability to pick and choose fresh add-on ingredients and sauce. It's not a an authentic Korean Bibimbap experience, but a decent healthy meal (depending upon what you choose) for a modest price. I would definitely order again.

Not crowded at all and took 25 minutes to get a simple bowl. Very poor quality, grisly chicken, couldn't even eat it. Terrible.

The vibe was moody and lightly lit, and the restaurant was busy with people celebrating. I ordered the sunomono, maguro crudo, salmon and king crab hand roll, and signature nigiri. The hand rolls were probably the best thing I've ever had, I even ordered an additional spicy tuna hand roll because I wasn't ready for them to be over. My sister even ordered another flight of nigiri because it was so phenomenal. To finish, I ordered the ube sponge cake, which was the perfect little treat to end the night. Seriously, I'll be dreaming about this meal. If I'm back in Houston, I'll definitely be coming back!

There were lots of rubber ducks scattered everywhere lol. Ordered a carajillo and the drink tasted GREAT! On the other hand... I sipped from each of my friends' ube espresso martini (did not taste the same between both drinks, bartender might have poured too much alcohol; couldn't appreciate any ube flavor). Not a fan of that drink (2.5 stars or less). HRW order - 1st: sunomono (cucumber) - 2nd: hotate crudo (delicious scallops!!) - 3rd: spicy tuna & sake handrolls - dessert add-on: matcha mochi (ok, can skip this) Other foods ordered: - karaage: chicken was well made, lots of flavor - sashimi (3pc): saketoro, madai, & hotate - unagi nigiri: eel was really good - spicy scallop handroll Even if you don't need to use the restroom, you should still check out the bathroom. The walkway was a pretty bamboo forest haha. Aside from the ube espresso martini, everything else was delicious and good! I recommend Aiko and would dine here again.

I'm writing this more for those that never had the chance to visit but on the off chance get to…read morevisit elsewhere and looking for info. I visited here frequently and I'm sad to see it shut down. Kazzan ramen in Osaka is a bit north of the main hub of Osaka, but one can hope they continue to try to spread their magic elsewhere. It was touching to see they'd trained (at least some) the staff to incorporate some of the tradition you'll see when in Japan such as greeting and goodbyes, even understanding phrases such as "okaikei onegai shimasu." Having lived in Japan, it was a nice touch. Food & Drink Kazzan ramen is an absolute delight. The stone bowl is so hot and keeps your ramen warm for the entire time you're enjoying it. They offer shio, shoyu, karamiso ramens. I personally loved the karamiso though their limited edition spicy version was great if looking for some heat. For appetizers, the black pepper edamame was a standout. Flavors of toasted sesame, maybe a touch of soy, with black pepper - . The cocktails were always delicious. They always had elevated cocktails with custom syrups and bitters. Definitely nice to see unique Japanese ingredients being incorporated into the cocktail scene. Service The service was always great, very attentive. Never had a want or need go long without being addressed. Staff was always making th rounds collecting plates, filling water, making sure you have everything. Pricing The ramen was a bit pricey even for US standards, which likely contributed to struggles but it was still delicious and worth visiting. I think a few bucks cheaper would have probably gone a long way. Or offering bundled pricing with cocktails or drinks to encourage more revenue while discounting. Though, I don't find it coincidental that this location has been plagued by multiple establishments not making it. That would indicate onerous lease rates and a potentially shrewd landlord. Overall This place will be missed and for anyone that does get a chance to visit them elsewhere, you won't regret it!

He brought waters and I ask for a hot green tea and one of my dining companions had already ordered hot green tea but the server forgot and had to be reminded. Someone else had asked for a Japanese soda but then changed their mind when the flavor was not what they wanted and told the server they wanted a Dr Pepper and the server brought the Japanese soda. I thought service would be more attentive since the restaurant was not busy. We also had to ask for water refills. I was told our table just turned over. The setups were not replenished and we kept having to ask for things. Were ordered apps and ramen and hot stone bowl items. They apps were brought to the table but we did not have plates.. so we had to ask for plates. One of the dining companions decided to get up and get chopsticks instead of waiting. When our entrees arrived the server kept passing the super hot item over from one side of the table instead of to each person. The food, the edamame was over cooked... so mushy. Takoyaki was ok. I ordered the Kazzan Shoyu. It was ok. Then it took a while for the bill to come, we were told they ran out of receipt paper. Sometimes it's the little details that make the difference. Not sure I would come back.
