Nightingale is from the owners of Hawksworth, which I thought was a very good but not necessarily great restaurant, but I really like Nightingale. It's a two-story space off of Hastings with a bar downstairs that has table seating and a somewhat quieter upstairs dining area where the kitchen is. I prefer the upstairs area, but both are fine. Don't be misled by the fact that reservations for the bar don't mean that you have to sit at the bar. It could mean anywhere in the downstairs area. The menu is a combination of surprisingly upscale food and straightforward dishes such as pizza, but the pizza is just not ordinary pizza, even though it's reasonably priced. In fact, it's one of the best pizzas in Vancouver. The appetizers are varied and extraordinary. We had the hamachi, which let the fish shine through, and the kanpachi, which was a complex preparation that we particularly enjoyed. Another surprise was the cauliflower hummus, which was much more layered and intricate than you might expect. Service was excellent, and there is a thoughtful wine list plus an enormous selection of liquors such as whiskies and even Amaro. In fact, they have tasting flights of different whiskies and Amaro, which I always particularly appreciate.

I booked Nightingale for an early 5:30pm dinner since one of their signature dishes, Brick-Pressed Chicken is a favorite for our family. Our picky 6yo son will eat some variant of this dish most of the time. The restaurant is gorgeous - brightly lit, classy, and arranged on two floors, each with a dedicated kitchen. The upstairs even has an open kitchen. Despite feeling very upscale, the restaurant is super welcoming to all, from families with kids, after-work crowds, folks on dates, and even well-dressed stockbrokers discussing their latest trades. The food was outstanding and had inspirations from Italian, Mexican and Japanese influences: 1. The kid's cheese pizza turned out really good - thin crust, Neapolitan style with slightly charred puffy crust from the wood oven. Our son ate most of it before the brick-chicken arrived! 2. The smaller dishes are meant to be shared - the Japanese Sweet Potatoes and Roasted Cauliflowers are good sides for a protein-rich entree. Wife ordered the lighter Baja Scallops and enjoyed them. 3. The star of the dinner was the Brick-Pressed half chicken. Crispy seared crust and super-moist meat underneath. Unlike many places they added a bit of spice from the chilis and even mixed in some beef tallow for additional richness. Our son enjoyed it too, and was not fazed by the slight heat from the chilis. A crispy skin always elevates a chicken! Highly recommend Nightingale for epic food, great service, and welcoming vibe. Reservations are available but make them early. The restaurant was packed even on a Wednesday evening!

Loved our experience at Nightingale, from the greeting, to the service, food and drinks - wonderful restaurant my husband picked to celebrate my birthday during our visit to Vancouver. The food was so fresh and didn't feel heavy, it was well proportioned. So much flavor in each dish! We got seated at the open table area where we got to be near the kitchen. Since it's an open kitchen format, we can see the meals getting prepared and it's such a fun experience! Truly a great dining experience, highly recommend this restaurant.

Love this spot still! Definitely make a reservation. We had dinner on the second floor and had a great assortment of food. The pizza was delicious. The baked Japanese potato was also sooo good. The clam spaghetti was also a crowd favorite. Great ambiance.

Two floor spacious dining experience - very clean , very well lit, comfortable vibes. Dropped by for Happy hour - there is quite a selection of treats you can choose from, however, note these are happy hour portions, if you are super hungry, this might not be for you and you'll need to order full size entrees. Service was very quick, friendly and engaging. I really liked the chicken nice coating and crisp to it. Pizza was underwhelming - tasted a bit burnt to be frank. rest of the dishes had nice flavor - however didn't have much of a wow factor - Good place to try out - maybe one day will be back to explore the menu -

Roasted Brussel Sprouts and Margherita Pizza

My wife and I had a pretty good time here. The food was good, especially the Roasted Brussel Sprouts! We loved it so much that we have since been making it at home several times since. Pizza was good but didn't meet the Brussel Sprouts bar. Service though was quite disappointing. We weren't getting the attention of the hostess for several tens of minutes each time we needed something. We waited long enough to get the attention of someone to get some red chilli flakes for the Pizza and finally we just ended up eating the Pizza without the chilli flakes since no one came to check on us for over 20 minutes. The place has a dim light setting for a nice romantic evening dinner date with your partner. Go here for the starters and for a inviting vibe.

After flying for many hours from the East Coast of the US, a cab ride from the airport, and checking into the EXchange hotel on Mother's Day 2026, we were starving and couldn't have been happier to find this place, and even happier that they had room for us to belly up to the bar. Service was terrific and we enjoyed our experience immensely. We enjoyed wine for me, bourbon for him, shared the fantastic foccacia to start (note it's large enough for at least 4 people, we took some back to the hotel). I had the smaller portion of spaghetti with clams he had the 100 layer lasagna. (that takes them 3 days to make) The spaghetti was clearly handmade, and it was way richer than I expected it to be, so I was glad I got the smaller portion. Very delicious! I got a small bite of the lasagna and thought it was very meaty and tasty. He polished it off, but did say that the charred topping took over tastewise a bit too much. Despite being stuffed, we found ourselves wanting to linger, so we ordered the caramel pot de creme, and Irish Whiskey for him, and a dessert tea drink for me with blueberry & breakfast tea, amaretto, grand marnier and cinnamon. All super delicious and again very rich! To top off our fine experience at this awesome restaurant, because it was Mother's Day and I'm a Mom, they gave me a wrapped box to take with us. Turned out to be a very pretty bluebell large mug. Super nice, thank you Nightingale!

This restaurant is perfect and I desperately wish I had one local to me. My mom and I spent 2 of our 4 nights in Vancouver here! The focaccia bread is to die for, and every appetizer we tried was delicious. We had the ahi and yellowtail hamachi as well as the roasted carrots and Japanese eggplant. Both nights we shared the large clam pasta and it was incredibly good. The dessert menu is also wonderful, but we were only able to try the vegan pb&j cake (which was delicious). They also make a great whiskey sour and all of their other cocktails looked amazing as well. Cannot wait to bring my family back here next year!

Wonderful service; I never had to ask for anything because so many team members were there to provide whether we needed, before we needed it. Beautiful menu and although no modifications can be made, the team delivered a menu to us with all the notes requested for our allergy / vegan safe options. Perfect for a team outing or intimate date night - tapas style menu, and each plate felt good for 2-4 people! I felt like I had 4 to 5 options for vegan meals, and my friend had about the same amount for dairy free I recommend making a reservation, and the venue has coat / bag check as well to make your dining experience even more comfortable.

We came for dinner with reservations for the chef's table. Sitting right along the kitchen gave us a clear view into the rhythm of service. Watching plates come together and seeing what other diners ordered added an extra layer of fun that you don't get at a standard table. From our visit, the roasted mushroom pizza stood out. I loved the combination of confit garlic, fontina, and arugula pesto. It hit a nice balance of earthy, creamy, and slightly peppery, and the crust had that ideal chew with a crisp edge. We also ordered the baked Japanese sweet potato which leaned simple but satisfying. It was soft with an almost custardy texture. The pork belly with chicharron was tender but definitely one of the heavier dishes of the night. Service was excellent. Dishes arrived at a comfortable pace, and the team seemed in sync with the kitchen, which you especially notice when you're sitting right in front of it. The interior had warm lighting, clean design, and just enough buzz to feel lively without being chaotic. The restaurant is large and I would recommend for small and large groups alike! Most importantly, don't skip dessert! One of the highlights of the night for sure.

Argentinian shrimp

One of the nice restaurants in Vancouver with unique bird cages on top of their bar area. Initially, I thought they wouldn't be family friendly but I was wrong. They have kids menu which included their famous pizza so obviously we ordered the pepperoni one for our son. The pizza itself was really good. It was thin and flavorful but the pepperoni was rather hot for my young son. We bunch a few appetizers and one entree. We loved their Argentinian shrimp which was so flavorful. We also tried their famous buttermilk fried chicken served with maple syrup. The batter was light and was fried perfectly (not oily). We also ordered the kale salad which came as generous serving. We ordered the trout as our entree. The trout was by far our least favorite; it was rather fishy for us. We wrapped up dinner with their carrot cake which was rather dry for my taste but the hubby loved it. Our waitress was great and very friendly.

For our last dinner in Vancouver, we decided to try Nightingale since it's highly rated and I'm glad we did. The food was delicious and service was good. We enjoyed our meal. Make reservations on OpenTable and if it's for two, book the Chef's table. It's different than your typical chef's table because you're seated at booth with a view of the kitchen. Ordered: -kanpachi crudo -roasted brussels sprouts -buttermilk fried chicken -spaghetti with manila clams -grilled bavette steak They gave us 2 cookies to take home and they were one of the best cookies I've ever had. I'll be back!

My visit to nightingale was so nice. The server was so attuned to my needs, and inquisitive to my life rather than just taking my order. It was cool to be in front of the chef's kitchen as well. My one complaint is that servers should be dressed less casually. The food was great and serving sizes were proportionate!

My daughter and I got hooked on to Acai bowls recently so this place was on my radar for awhile…read moresince I knew that they have Acai bowls on their menu. Managed to get to this place over the weekend. Having tried this place I think we've tried pretty much every spot on the North Shore now that serves Acai bowls. This was a pretty good one. A good combination of ingredients in the bowl. Not too big a serving, but not too small a serving either. Super tasty! The bowl actually looked a bit on the small side to me when I got it. After eating it though, I felt more than sufficently filled. My daughter got the Berry Bliss Acai while I got the 'Ohana Luv Acai. My bowl had some kind of bright blue sauce on it. Wish I'd asked what made it blue. We both ordered drinks as well. My daughter had the 5 Moons Chai and I had the Healer. Whoa...they are quite heavy handed with using ginger in their drinks. I enjoyed my drink but I think there was too much ginger for my daughter's taste. It was like the kind of ginger drink that I sometimes boil at home when one of us gets sick and we need something to soothe our sore throat. Recommend the Acai Bowl. I'd be wary of the warm tonic drinks. Great if you like ginger! Uggghh, they took away free parking on Lonsdale Ave.! I had to park a bit further off just to find a one hour free parking spot.

It was almost impossible to not get one of everything! After a long travel day, my hubby and I got off the Seabus and walked straight up the road to Buddha-Full. Here's what our 1st visit looked like: * Bohemian Soul Bowl (excellent) * Wild At Heart Bowl (so good I got this again the next day after tackling the Grouse Grind!) * Be Green Smoothie (refreshing, fresh, loved that it had spirulina) * Raw Cinnamon Roll (had to try it, was like cinnamon cookie dough) As mentioned, we came back the next day after hiking Grouse Grind, hitting the spot again in the best way! 2nd visit was all about: * Wild at Heart Bowl (again!) * Coastal Vibes Bowl (another winner) * The Grind smoothie (in honor of just completing Grouse Grind) * Soul Starter (warm tonic with loads of health properties) * Tiramisu (because it was my husband's birthday that day!) The staff here was very friendly both visits, and we can't wait to come back the next time we're in town! Big thank you to the lady (possible one of the owners or managers) who noticed we were overcharged for one of the items and corrected it while we were enjoying our meal. Thanks so much!

The family stopped by for an early dinner. It was a beautiful day with sunshine and cloudy skies,…read moreslight breeze. The frontside out door dining area were fairly occupied but a handful of empty tables were available. I ordered 4 savory fried oysters and clam chowder. I've had the oysters before and they did were as good as I remembered. They were delicious! I was thinking of ordering more but could not eat anymore after half the clam chowder. You go up to the counter and order before receiving a number and finding a seat. We ordered the bread and butter, Oyster Chowder, and 16 grilled oysters since they did not have raw ones available at the time. Keep in mind it was a cold day so our food cooled down rather quickly. The bread and butter were alright, the bread was on the tough side and the butter had a simple flavor to it. Was hard to spread due to the cold. The bread would probably be much better if it stayed toasty. The oyster chowder had really good Smokey taste and flavor. Was good to dip the bread in but was a bit more watery than our liking but that is a preference. All 4 flavors of our baked oysters were fantastic. Ranking our 4, I'd say coconut curry was our favorite, then simple, spicy lime, then savory. The oysters have great meaty flavor and are mid sized. They aren't too briny and oceany so the sauce/flavorings pair very well. Overall was a nice little place in the town.
