    Classic margarita

Stopped by Nico's for a quick happy hour and loved it! Both the classic margarita and the chips and queso were great. You get a good amount of queso with the chips, which I definitely appreciated. The restaurant is super cute, both inside and out. We went with a group of eight and they were able to seat us outside without any problem. Such a fun spot, I'll definitely be back next time I'm in the area.

Very solid happy hour offerings and great service. Especially enjoyed the queso gringo dip. Holiday decor definitely is a draw!

Dinner on a Friday night with girlfriends. Food was pretty good. The mushroom taco was my favorite. Overall dining experience was okay, not great. The server we had wasn't very attentive.

Had a taste for Mexican food and found Nico's on yelp and sure glad I did. Very friendly staff when we walked in and plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Our server was very helpful and knowledgeable with what we should eat. The salsa flight was something I've never done before. All were very good with different depths of flavor. Worth a try. Margarita was very smooth not sweet at all. Each taco had its own story. Chorizo taco was not greasy at all and had just enough spice. The mushroom taco marinade I could bathe in. Was my favorite one! Barbacoa taco was also packing flavor with that slow roast. Finally, I could have eaten an entire cake of the pumpkin tres leches. Get it while it's on the menu before it's too late! Def worth the trip if you're downtown!

I loved the atmosphere here, all the decor was so light and airy. The salsas in the triple flight were all really good, especially the pumpkin and corn ones. The chicken enchiladas were good too, a ton of food! Service was fast and friendly.

Holy heck! Being from Texas, I have high standards for guacamole. Going north and expecting good guac is a gamble that doesn't always pay off. However, Nico's knows how to do guac! It was perfectly seasoned and limed. I was impressed! We went earlier on the fourth of July so it was a little dead, but our server was attentive without hovering. It was such a cutie place with great guac and margs. I would highly recommend.

love this holiday pop up!!! everyone that entered the door had a positive compliment about the space. the holiday drinks were delicious; so many fun options! the bartender service was great. plenty of spots to sit whether you want to belly up at the bar or get a table with a group of friends. i went on a saturday afternoon, but i'd like to come back during the evening to see it all lit up :)

I met my girlfriends for dinner + drinks, and we had so much fun! I've never been here before, but was pleasantly surprised with the VERY quick food service and yummy drinks. I ordered the spicy marg, shrimp taco and carnitas taco. We shared the birria tacos, and it was so delicious! They forgot the chorizo in our queso, and brought it out on a separate dish for us to mix into our existing queso... - but hey, it was still yummy! The vibes were a little less "holiday" than we were expecting, but needless to say, we had a great time together.

Today included a joyful afternoon at #Nico's at 49th and Penn. What a beautiful and inviting winter wonderland. So kind of Nico's to allow Urban Sketcher's to hang out this afternoon - Nico's is such a good community neighbor at all their locations. The server Silas was delightful and quite an artist himself. I indulged in the Gringo Queso Dip - dangerously good. My sketch at Nico's feature Catherine and Jerry, fellow sketchers.

Stopped here on a Friday night for happy hour. Be warned it does end earlier at 5 pm vs 6 pm compared to their other locations. Opted for the house margarita which was good, not my favorite. It was slightly sweet for my liking. Ordered the Babacoa taco and burrito. Both were good again, nothing that blew my socks off. Pricing was slightly expensive for what you got. Then we tried the specialty cocktail with tequila and mezcal (don't know what it's called because I can't find a drink menu online) but so so good! Have to come back for that drink! Overall the inside is gorgeous with lots of bar seats, tables and outdoor patio seating in the summer. Very fun spot to grab a drink and some small bites.

Margaritas: cucumber margarita was refreshing. The spicy margarita with cilantro (can't remember what it was called) was GREAT. Salsa flight: -pico: great -Aguacate: my favorite. Great texture and flavor, Not too hot. -Zona Rosa: a pumpkin chipotle salsa, nice and creamy. Tacos: -Mushroom: Ordered this based on other reviews. Unexpectedly amazing!! -Chipotle Camaron: plump shrimp with a yummy chipotle aioli and slaw. A fat taco that was exactly what I wanted- would definitely order again. -Barbacoa: good flavor but a little dry. Would have been nice to have sauce or some pickled red onions. Key lime pie: would skip, overly sweet Coffee: strong and delicious Service was great.

My wife and I were on our weekly new restaurant tour of the Twin Cities. We saw Nico's Tacos on Yelp and it looked good. Unfortunately, they have some construction going on in front of the restaurant, but we parked along the street a little ways up. We sat down after the nice hostess asked if a high top table was okay and I ordered an Indeed IPA to peruse the menu. We got three tacos from our super nice server. An octopus, a barbacoa and a lengua (Tongue) Now some people may bark at lengua, but it is wonderful, flavorful and a little bit of smokey flavor to it. It is really good. We also ordered a grilled jalapeño for a couple of bucks. Go for it. It comes out temp hot and the spice starts to kick in after a few bites, totally get it added. The lengua taco was delicious, fatty, yet flavorful and the three salsas we got were the top three on the menu of salsas. Each one was a masterpiece of Heavan in your mouth. Super flavorful and lots of spices and each one stood on its own. I wouldn't have minded a free few chips, just to soak up the leftovers. The octopus was chewy, but not burdensome and mixed well with some salsa dipping. The barbacoa was full of meat, as well as all of the others and was just moist and perfect. (Good name for a band) (A big plus for how much meat they put in each taco, they aren't cheap, but they don't skimp on the meat.) Overall, a great lunch, some goofy characters were eating at the restaurant which kept us amused and you have to try this place, a solid five star.

This is a newer location for Nico's tacos, the food is good, but I feel the uptown location is better. However, this is still a great neighborhood restaurant for locals.

Marsu Pizzeria + Taqueria - Slice of birria pizza

Ben and Jerry's free ice cream cone day. After hanging out for half an hour with a live DJ,…read moredancing, and ice cream, we were ready for dinner. Priorities. What are we craving? Burgers? Nah. Pizza? Two maybes - plus the asker. Mexican? Again, two maybes. We start scouring possibilities. And come across a pizzaria + taqueria. Ratings at a very respectable 4.5. Curiosities at full peak. Plus it's close. We've got a winner. No guests inside when we arrive. Parking right out front. Before we even decide on an order, however, people start coming in. Several tables fill up within 10 minutes. Amusingly, the first next group grabbed the one curved booth with my full drink bottle still sitting on the table in the middle of them. They migrated to the semi-booth across the dining area. Clearly, the two most desired seating areas in the house. We ordered birria pizza and horchata - we have a tradition of testing the horchata at every next Mexican restaurant we try. This one was mid - not horrible, not great. Just was. We'd ordered a birria pizza recently, elsewhere. It came out as... a birria taco in pizza layout. Tortilla circle, birria middle, tortilla top. Meh. To be fair, that birria pizza was the only pizza item on that menu, so it made sense that their pizza just wasn't pizza-ing. We were hopeful for a very different experience this time. Especially given the very clear emphasis on pizza on this menu. Then the pizza came. Not only did it look glorious, a bowl of birria dip sat in the middle of the pizza, completing the birria experience. And it was absolutely fantastic. The birria, the ratio, the crust - everything was delicious. Except, as my friend pointed out, the horchata. It can't all be perfect, unfortunately. The pizza was so good that when we wrapped up the leftovers, a strip of end crust went in with the rest of the pie. Speaking of, I'm definitely ready to reheat all of that now - update: Awesome reheated. :) Next visit: Chorizo pineapple jalepeño pizza!

Marsu Pizzeria: The Battle for the Last Slice…read more I walked into Marsu Pizzeria already knowing two things: 1) I was about to have the best pizza of my life. 2) I was going to order way too much food and have no regrets. The place smelled like heaven--garlic, melted cheese, fresh dough. I took a seat, ready to devour a feast. A cheerful employee--let's call him Tony (because let's be real, every good pizzeria has a Tony)--walks up with a confident smile. Tony: "You ready for the best pizza of your life?" Me: "Tony, I've been training for this moment my whole life." I ordered the house special pizza (because if a pizza place has a signature pizza, you ORDER IT), plus some garlic knots, because I respect myself. The food came out fast, hot, fresh, and smelling like a dream. As I'm one slice away from food coma territory, I see it. The last slice. The holy grail. The perfect combination of cheese, sauce, and crispy crust, staring at me like it knows it's about to be devoured. Just as I'm reaching for it, Tony slides by the table, nodding at my plate. Tony: "You gonna finish that?" Me: "...I was planning on it, Tony." Tony: "You sure? I mean, we could put it up for auction. Bidding starts at one garlic knot." Me: "Not happening." Tony: "Alright, but just know... if you don't eat it in the next 30 seconds, I legally get to claim it." Now, I don't know what kind of pizzeria law Tony is operating under, but I wasn't about to test it. I stared him dead in the eyes as I picked up the last slice and took the biggest bite possible. Tony (nodding approvingly): "Good choice. That's the kind of hunger we respect around here." Long story short, Marsu Pizzeria has the best pizza, the best vibes, and employees who will absolutely test your commitment to finishing your food. Final score? 10/10 pizza. 10/10 service. 10/10 threats on my last slice.
