Waited for almost 40 min for our order, food came out cold.. my onion rings cold, soggy, and greasy.. I complained and they cooked me another batch but they were the same but only hot! After eating one half of my burger my husband stopped me from taking another bite because their was a hair stuck in the meat! They need to change out their grease or something it cooks the food dark brown. Fries were so limp and cold. Burgers were ok but the patty was dry! My gosh!!! Just tried recently. Did not know they even existed anymore and had to find a number and call to confirm. Because we remembered the name from years back and knew they must be gone. NOT. These are Real burgers set up like they should be. My goodness how can it get any better than this?!?! NOT! You must go and try one along with the homemade fries or onion rings. Always like this place, but it sure seems different in reguard to portion size. Usually we can split one order of fries, and did, and counted 12 each. Wonder if thing will go back or is this the new norm for all restaurants. They are pricing themselves out of business. I wasn't expecting more than one patty so it was a little on the greasy side, but that's a given with two patties. My only complaint would be price, they're probably 15-20% too high on their pricing, I am a former diner owner so I base that on my own experience in this type of business. Okay I have to say this place is awesome! I was driving in the area and saw this place by its lonesome on the side of the road and I knew I had to check it out. This place is very very homey you can tell it was built with love and care. The decor may seem dated to some but I feel like it really stands out by adding so much character to the place. Anyways I got a Cajun pepper jack burger and added an egg to it (who doesn't like an egg?) and it was definitely one of the most standout burgers I've had in a long time. The meat was juicy, the egg was cooked perfectly, and most importantly they put the veggies on the side for my togo order! Although this is a farther drive for me (30+ minutes) I will def make the effort to come out here again. read more

Definitely the best burger I've ever had! I've been coming to Nicky D's for 7 years now and it tastes the same as it did the first time. Just about everyone i bring here says its in their top 3 burger places, if not their number one spot. I get the same thing every time: big cheeseburger with cheddar and bacon extra crispy. Sometimes I get grilled jalapeños on it, but you definitely have to get cheddar cheese because they put a ton of it on the burger and some of it gets crispy on the grill. The fries have great seasoning and are awesome. The tots are also very good as are the onion rings. The thing I like most about Nicky D's is that the burgers have excellent flavor. At places like Kincaids, the meat doesn't have any flavor. But at Nicky D's, the combination of the flavor from the meat, gooey cheddar, crispy bacon, just does something and makes it an awesome combination! When I eat their burger, I utter "mmm" several times and I generally don't talk so I can fully enjoy the burger. It's the only food that has ever made me go "mmm" continually while eating it, so take that for what it's worth haha. Because I love their burgers so much, I had to go to Nicky D's three days in a row in order to let myself try other menu items. No joke! Day 1 was my usual burger. Day 2 was a big dog with chili and cheese--awesome! Day 3 was the ribeye steak sandwich. It was pretty good but tasted like the burger. I've also had their corn dog, bologna sandwich, and off the menu items such as a blt and grilled ham and cheese. Shamefully, I've gotten these items as an additional item so i could still eat my favorite burger. Next time I want to try the fried pickes as I'm sure they're awesome. To sum up, this is the best burger I've ever had! I request this as my birthday meal. I'm also somewhat of a burger connoisseur and i keep a running tally in my head of my top burger places and no one comes close, even places in other states that have been on tv or highly regarded. No matter how many times I try this place, the service is horrible. Bunch of kids more concerned with having a good time than serving customers. They use the same counter to cash out customers as they do to prepare burgers.... My last burger had been set down on a bunch of staples during assembly and I had at least 4 in my sandwich. I have eaten here before. The food was ok. We ordered takeout. The bread for my BLT was sopping in grease. The sweet potato fries were half cooked to just barely cooked. The prices have gone way up. I understand everything has gone up unfortunately. For the price we paid for 3 adults, and a child was not worth what we paid. Occasionally we would have issues with how the food was cooked. This place is super cool, trendy, entertaining and just plain fun! This is all secondary to the fact that they have a huge menu with tons of choices (according to how naughty you want to be) and fantastic food! Best burger in the Burleson/Crowley area. I had the patty melt this visit and it was the classic rye, Swiss cheese and grilled onions. It's hard to find these days as so many places try to pull off 'patty melts' using white bread and American cheese. I have been eating here AT LEAST 3-4 times a week for the past few years. I eat here so often they don't even ask me what I want to order because they already know. Today will more than likely be my final visit. The employees act like this is their frat house. The country music is blaring so loud you cannot even take a phone call. The cook (I believe he is a Hispanic guy) will randomly yell at the top of his lungs just some random crap or yell out a very obnoxious WOO-HOO then repeatedly bang his spatula on the grill. I don't know what he is celebrating because His FOOD SUCKS! I took my burger back ONCE to request that he season it. I COULD HEAR HIM BITCHING ABOUT ME ALL THE WAY ACROSS THE DINING ROOM! When I got my burger back he had dumped so much Cajun seasoning on it they it was no longer edible! The fries SUCK! When you cook fries and then leave them sitting in the basket above the oil, they soak up oil and become limp and disgusting!!! When you walk by the kitchen when they aren't busy you can see the huge baskets of fries and tots just sitting there soaking up grease. It is obvious the owners just don't care anymore because I haven't seen them there in forever! The girl at the front counter used to be good, now she doesn't care. She is just there to collect a paycheck. The girl with blonde/purple hair is off in la-la land she could care less whether your food is edible. They are all too busy playing they can't make decent food anymore. The ONE employee that cared, I believe his name was Ricky, he is no longer there. This guy actually cared about the food he cooked and really went out of his way to treat his customers right! Definitely a hole in the wall! From the outside it looks like nothing special, even from the inside, but once you taste the burger...OMG! Once you've stepped into the "restaurant" you see a mass collection of random "stuff" everywhere! Imagine the decorations from Razoo's x 2. They have bikes suspended upside down from the ceiling, advertisements, posters, and even an Elvis cutout, all hung on the ceiling! Definitely very eclectic. This has got to be one of the most delicious burger joint I've ever been too (hop doddy, smash burger, 5 guys, etc)! And the best part, it is family and locally owned, not a franchise, which is so rare to find nowadays. If you can, share, because the portion size is ginormous! I had the grilled mushroom, onions burger and small fries. And yum, yum, yum! There were tons of mushrooms and onions and they were GRILLED, which I loved! The meat was very juicy and well cooked. We watched as the people in front of us ordered, we payed for our meal and were told it was not ready yet. We waited a few more minutes watching three additional people order their food. Overall it took us 35 minutes to get two burgers & one side of fries. We watched all 5 people who had ordered after us receive their food. My husband ordered the Cajun pepper burger, it had good flavor regarding spice but was far too salty.
