After all these years, our first trip to NP&P. Really, REALLY cool inside....old barn siding decorate the walls along with an amazing array of stuffed fish and wildlife, very warm and cozy. Our server Nancy (I guess she's been there quite a while) couldn't have been nicer and very attentive without being overwhelming. 4 of us in our group, the one couple ordered fried mushrooms for a appy, nice and crispy, done to perfection. We ordered mozzarella sticks...had to be the best ever!!! We then each ordered the "double decker" pizza with sausage and mushrooms. Never heard of such a thing and wow, such great flavor, done just right with a perfect amount of sauce, cheese and toppings. Wish it was closer to us but it's worth a trip back! Service is very slow, on the waiter side. The food was very good and came out very quickly! Very cute spot, perfect for a chill evening out with the kids The peanuts are a cute touch to keep the kiddos entertained. Nothing was awful just not very good I wanted pizza so we went here with a group of 7. Ordered a few drafts, they were cold & fine. Got the bruschetta app it was 5 pieces of small toast & not enough balsamic. We ordered a large Pizza for 2 of us to share. It was only 14" & paper thin. We both polished off our 1/2 with no problem & were searching for the bag of peanuts they gave us when we were seated. I was expecting to be full & possibly have leftovers. Wife tried the breaded chicken sandwich, it was bland. 2 people had the new grilled cheese with soup- it was ok Italian beef was dry with very little flavor Bill was almost $200 b4 tip for a tiny large pizza, 5 sandwiches, 1 small app & 5 beers, 1 mixed drink & 3 lemonades. Good thin crust pizza. Basic tomato sauce was familiar-tasting (hot enough sage?), lotsa mozzarella cheese (the extra cheese makes a better slice @10 minutes than 5 minutes after service), at the table cause it as kinda thick when first served. Also will be great leftover lunch/brunch - was our plan so we got big-ish pizzas). Good thin crust. I'm hyper critical on crust, so call that a big compliment. We'll be back. (And we're Lou's routine customers, so if I order a 2nd pizza from you it's a big deal). They've decorated beautifully for the season. Lovely. When I moved back to Illinois in 1996, the Crystal lake location was the first place I had pizza back home and Nicks remained a family favorite. There's two kinds of people in this world. And I am a supporter of pineapples on pizza! I've never had a pizza with whole sliced pineapples on top. They're pretty thick pieces too. I liked that they have bbq sauce in place of the pizza sauce. It's nice that they allow you to choose if you want your pizza cut in triangles or squares. I personally like having most of the ingredients inside, under the cheese. The wings were wet but the meat was a little too dry for me. I would order again from here. We have eaten at nicks over the years and generally had good food and fair service. Had birthday parties there. Today was so disappointing that we will not return. The food was mostly fine. The bun on the sandwich was not toasted. Big deal right? The unusual coleslaw slaw was not fresh. When the appetizer was served we did not receive napkins so I was able to get up from the table to find a server to have him bring napkins. The food was served and again I had find a server to get silverware. The drink refills were not brought until the meal was pretty much over. We can overlook some of these issues. The kicker came when 20 percent tip was added to the bill for the 2 of us. We were not given the option of cash payment so the convenience fee was added. Sorry to say after supporting nicks through the years including when covid was around and the restaurant was struggling we will mot be joining nicks for a meal. read more

Food came out lukewarm, our server was on a different planet, I'm surprised that she remained conscious throughout our time at Nick's. Don't get me wrong, I've been going to Nick's for almost a decade now and I've never, I repeat never, have ever had such a scary/concerning experience within such a familiar environment. The server at the time, I believe her name was Laura or Lindsey, started with an L. She was stumbling when approaching our table, her hands were visibly trembling when passing out beverages, her eyes were dilated beyond belief, and I had a sneaking suspicion she was inebriated based on her complexion and lack of basic motor skills. Sad to see a place I used to love become completely classless with no service standards. This experience made me deeply uncomfortable and I will not be returning. read more

This place has a great American food fanfare vibe, with the decór screaming Americana. Walk in and the inside reminded me of a giant log cabin. If you're a PETA advocate and don't like taxidermy, the decor isn't something you would like. Various stuffed animals are all over the dining area from bears, to fish, to a giant chandelier consisting of, what I assume, deer antlers. Another warning, if you have a severe peanut allergy, you may think twice about coming here as they have numerous baskets of shelled peanuts and it's encouraged to dump the shells on the floor after consumption. There's signs that quickly warn you as well. The place was pretty busy on a Friday night, but we got seating pretty quickly. For appetizers, besides the complimentary shelled peanuts, we got some wings and mozzarella sticks. The mozzarella sticks were OK, but the wings were fantastic. They had the perfect crisp and the asian chili sauce was phenomenal. For the main dish, I ordered the turkey burger. The burger was somewhat dry, but it was decently seasoned. I enjoyed my burger, service, and friends. BATHROOM REVIEW: Bathroom located near the back of the restaurant, I was pleasantly surprised on how clean the bathroom was. Not sure who that Rodolfo guy in the front thinks he is, but he's rude as fk. He completely ignored us for a good 30 minutes while he fiddled with his phone. When we finally asked for assistance, he got an attitude and told me if I have an issue I can take it up with the company. Then proceeded to walk away. I've never had an issue here before this. My husband and I always enjoy stopping in when we are in the area. We love the thin crust pizza there and the atmosphere is always so nice. But I have to say that today our server Caleb was so genuinely nice. I could hear him with the other patrons, and I even complemented him. Tanya who was our waitress and coordinator for the setup in the back room was absolutely amazing. She was super friendly and helpful with everything. I would give this no stars if I could. It took almost 2 hours to get our pizza, even the appetizer of fried ravioli took forever, the sauce was cold (like it had been in the refrigerator). The bacon (surprisingly was full strips laid on top of the pizza) was of poor quality and mostly undercooked fat. The bathrooms were gross, as were the floors by the serving stations. The laminated menus were filthy and sticky. Lastly the service sucked, I'm rather patient with current staffing shortages everywhere & I understand slow service but this was beyond.
