    Chalkboard Beer Menu
    Carl F.

Beer. Bands. (foos)Balls. I can dig. Oh yeah. A gem of the truest kind. For sure. With a giant chalkboard menu of consisting of hundreds of craft beers from near and far, you can't go wrong. My pick for poison? Mannequin Piss. Also known as Blanche De Bruxelles. A Belgian Wit with a funny nickname and whizzing boy on the bottle front. FANTASTIC and highly recommended. Most of the beer selection is in bottles. Ideally, I'd like for there to many more on tap... or for there to be some distinction on the board whether something is or isn't a tap vs bottle BUT I can't deny they're having the best beer selection in St. Charles. The bands featured upstairs on the weekends are always fun but that 2nd level gets packed and hotter than hell- to the point of feeling moist from all the layers of bodies. And beware of the bathrooms located on the second floor as you *technically* need to climb 3 sets of stairs to get to. Just something to think about when you're undoubtedly drinking heaps of delicious craft beer. On the other hand, you can read some of the colorful things other people have written on the bathroom walls and stalls if you make the trek... and it's defo worth the trek.

    Nasty-ass men's room.

This place is dirty. They charge a cover to see some no-name band, then you need a tetanus shot after you use their bathroom. There's no food. The bouncers will start yelling in your face trying to kick you out a half hour before closing time. One time the owner went on a "What do you people want" rant of Facebook. In a town like Saint Charles, there's just so many other places to choose from that treat their customers a lot better. And seriously. . . . F*cking filthy!

A million beers to offer and I got wine, classic.

Popped in to The House Pub with my hubby for a couple quick drinks before meeting our photographer for a fun date night photo shoot. It was a rainy day in suburbia, so we honestly chose this bar because it was the closest to where we parked! I'm glad we did though. It's a smaller place than I thought, but they have plenty of small tables and seats up at the bar. There's a foosball table and a stage too. They apparently have live music every night of the week which is pretty cool. We were there at like 6 p.m. on a Sunday though, so the festivities weren't starting until about 9 p.m. We grabbed a seat up at the bar and were overwhelmed by the amount of beers they have to offer! Craft beer central here folks. Oddly enough, I wasn't in a beer mood (which doesn't happen often), so I went with a Tito's vodka and tonic. Pretty standard. After that I asked if they had wine (because I didn't see any behind the bar), and they do! Of course it was Barefoot wine, so not the greatest but it's not like I'm not used to drinking that! They had a few different kinds to choose from, so I went with a Pinot Nior. My husband ordered a couple vanilla porters. Our bartender was really friendly and funny. To be honest, it wasn't the worst experience or the best. I think this was mostly due to the fact that I just wasn't in the mood for this scene. I was hoping to order an appetizer to tide us over until dinner, but they don't offer food. Instead of having music playing in the background they had the sound on the TVs, so it was a sports bar kind of vibe instead of a cool craft beer-esque cafe I had hoped for. If I'm in the area for some late night fun I'll for sure stop in again - hopefully to see some live music!

Best beer bar in St. Charles far as I can tell. Last time I went here was after band practice. I had a couple Double Crooked Trees, a few shots, and I think some more beer? After the second D.C.T. I don't remember. I don't remember paying the bill or walking to my friends house either. Good thing we walked. That was just one good time at The House Pub. Awesome atmosphere! This place is chilled out and has a good jukebox. There are live bands upstairs on the weekends. The upstairs area has a cool jazz lounge thing going on. The bathrooms have very entertaining graffiti on the mens' stalls. I cant speak about the womans' bathroom, but hopefully its just as colorful! The only detraction is there is no food other than a popcorn maker. I always like to munch on snacks when I drink craft beer, and popcorn is hell on my teeth.

There is not much to it, and it looks like a typical Irish divey bar with wooden furniture. We sat ourselves at a high table next to the bar, and our waitress came by right away to take our drink order. We had great service, and she consistently asked us if everything was okay and gave us water refills. There are many different menu options; I decided to try their Grilled Cheese Sandwich ($15) for lunch. The sandwich came with white cheddar, pepper jack, and American cheeses on it, and it also had bacon on sourdough bread. The sandwich was pretty good, but it tasted dry. I wish the sandwich had some aioli or sauce to keep it more flavorful and moist, but the cheeses all mixed well, and the bacon was cooked perfectly. My husband ordered the Blackened Chicken Caesar Salad ($15). He enjoyed his salad and thought that the chicken was cooked and seasoned well. Overall, I would come back here because it was clean, we had good service, and the food was good. I would like to order either a Reuben or Mac and Cheese next time.

We ordered the bruschetta and chips and salsa for our appetizer. Salsa was great and had just the right amount of spice. Bruschetta was a big hit- it had a lot of garlic, which we loved! I ordered the wings with Thai chili sauce and they were excellent. Their drink menu is pretty good and they offer some nice beers, including Two Brothers. I will definitely come back for the beer and wings! Our server, Danielle, was so sweet and attentive! She took very good care of us. Overall, this is a fun spot to hangout, have a few drinks, and eat good food at a reasonable price!

There are two sections to the Frontier Pub; the restaurant part and the smaller cozy pub. When eight of us arrived around 5:30 PM on a Friday evening, the pub was about 3/4 full. This has to be the most comfortable pub in the Western burbs. With sofas and easy chairs throughout, you can really kick back and relax. There is a small bar where the friendly bartender was chatting with her customers. The real attraction on this 7 degree evening was the warm fireplace that was already staked out by 10-12 Fermilab researchers and their families enjoying Two Brothers brews. Since we had a relatively large group we walked over to the restaurant section which is brightly lit with a couple of TV's on the wall. They have several beautiful Bison photos and a huge taxidermied Bison head hanging on the walls. It's a comfortable room but not fancy. The limited menu is standard pub food but its all prepared quite well. Our group ordered turkey burgers, hamburgers, black bean burger, grilled chicken and the special of the day; spinach calzone. I had the grilled chicken which came with fries ($6.50) and it was perfect. The people that ordered the spinach calzone said that they really enjoyed it. We shared pitchers of Two Brothers Bison Head Ale ($15 pitcher) which is a delicious brown ale brewed just for The Frontier Pub. It's a basic menu but the food is prepared with care. I also need to mention that our server was just delightful. (I wish I would have gotten her name.). Even the bartender came over from the pub to chat us up. The good food, unique setting, great service and friendly crowd all add up to 5-stars for me. Fermilab is a great break from your hectic grind. Come out and see the bison herd or even go birdwatching. At the end of your day of exploring, The Frontier Pub is a great place to quench your thirst and fill your belly. Who knows, you might even strike up a conversation with an atomic physicist!

Nothing too special or bad about them. It was a standard turkey sandwich and a standard burger. The fries were good. Perfectly fried and crispy on the outside while smooth on the inside. Their menu was pretty big with a lot to offer. Similar of diner food. You won't find any crazy or unique flavors, but you will find typical, good food.
