Time for a cold beverage on this beautiful Sunday
    Annette M.

We were hot and thirsty after a long hike and this pretty setting was just the ticket for cooling off. They had a lemon seltzer by Penrose that I really enjoyed and my husband had a strawberry sour on tap. Inside the cabin setting is dark and air conditioned but we opted to enjoy the breeze under the shade of an umbrella on the porch. Sometimes they have a food truck in the lot so follow on social media for the schedule. I wish there was live music but I didn't see a schedule for that but they did have canned music. In addition to beer they also serve wine and whiskey. They are available for private event bookings. No kids allowed except on listed family Sundays. Well behaved dogs are welcome.

Outside enjoying a cold one with Live Music.

Great Beer, Atmosphere and vibes!! Came here on a Friday evening listened to some live music and enjoyed some good food(foodtruck) The outdoor seating was fantastic and I'd definitely be back!!!

Great beer & PRESS Hard Seltzer, and the decor we brought for the picnic tables!

We recently had a 21st birthday at Plank Road and it was great! Gaby was so helpful in the planning of the party, and even ordered special drinks for the non-beer drinkers! We had the whole beer garden to ourselves, and were able to bring our own food truck. We will definitely be recommending them to our friends and family!

Awesome place to enjoy beer the way it was meant to be. Excellent rotating craft beer menu and a great atmosphere. There are actually no televisions here and I actually really enjoyed that, we met some people we likely wouldn't have otherwise talked to as a result. The owners were very approachable, polite, and attentive to all the people who were there.

Super small but really warm and inviting inside. Great beer selection. The Penrose Midwest Vice was super tasty. Steeper prices than most tap rooms but it's like buying dessert I guess.

    Pretty Porter

Not fully sure how we ended up at this little joint, but I'm glad we did! Let me start by saying, I don't really know much about beer. Not that I hate it, but I'm picky when it comes to beer. So when we arrived and went to order, I told the guy just that. I also told him a couple of beers I like, so he gave me a couple of suggestions from the menu. I chose the Ebel's Weiss by Two Brothers. It was exactly what I was looking for! The two people that were with me picked their recommended beer as well, and were both pleased with their choice. My friends ordered Fistmas (a winter warmer), and a Porter that was not on the menu. I have to say, one of the best things -about going to any place- is getting a great recommendation by an employee. Now, for style and decor. This place looks really cute on the outside, with log cabin style design and Christmas lights to accentuate it. The door had their own logo(as do all their beer glasses), which is really pretty. When you walk inside you realize it is pretty small. There are four picnic tables and about 5 or 6 bar seats. It was pretty packed inside(but not too uncomfortable), which I actually liked. It isn't an extravagant place. It is a simplistic, good ole beer lovin', small business supportin', hangout. If you don't want to sit next to someone you don't know, don't come here. You have to interact with people here! They do have some nice artistic pictures on the walls (that highlight beer life). Let me clarify: this place isn't PLAIN. It is SIMPLE. There is a difference. There are no TV's and no food. JUST beer. They do welcome that you bring your own food, and your own card games. The only thought I might have is that extra space be built for two extra picnic tables, BUT I'm pretty sure that this was a house of some sort that has since been converted. And they have maximized the potential in this room. For the first time here I recommend doing what we did, starting off your night with a beer or two and then pub crawl somewhere else! We definitely will be back. Next time we might bring a couple more people, cards against humanity, and some pizza.

The Grumpy Goat feels like a rustic supper club but with an energetic vibe and signature menu items highlighted with a goat. The Bulleit Bourboun burger and fries were outstanding, and I look forward to returning and trying a steak. We held a meeting for nearly 70 people in their back room and had helpful amenities needed and tasty food. People especially liked the skillet dip and sausage and peppers. Plenty of on-site parking too and an innovative cocktail menu in addition to standard beer, seltzers and wines. And I could tell from the conversations between servers and customers in the bar area, that there are many regulars who keep coming back here. I can definitely see why. Thank you again, Chris and team for an outstanding experience.

See, Grumpy Goat consists of two indoor dining areas and an outdoor seating area within a slightly larger building also that has a locker room, golf shop, and meeting room. The food ranges from pub food, to sandwiches, to flatbreads, to great steaks. Both times, the bar area was louder and people tend to focus on drinks and appetizers there. There's a separate dining room beyond the bar area where full dinners seem more common. Given that my 2 trips were in November and December, don't have a good sense for the outside area. I could just see that there are several tables overlooking the golf course. On certain nights, they have live music. Great variety of drinks, appetizers, sandwiches/burgers, and entrees. Can go inexpensive, or can get a filet mignon and spent a lot. Filling choices. Prices are quite reasonable.
