We ordered beef dip and Pastrami Reuben which were both great. The highlight of the lunch was the surprising free cookie that we received before we left.

Value wise, I think Nick's on Broadway gives you the best bang for your buck relative to the two other sandwich shops in the city (King + Bannatyne and Sherbrook Street Deli). For $8 you can get a hot pastrami sandwich served with hot mustard and city bread rye with a pickle and coleslaw. My fave is their red star reuben ($11) pastrami, russian dressing, sauerkraut, swiss cheese on city bread rye; this sandwich is done panini style so a little different from the classic reuben but very good. They have lots of side/full orders of salads and soups for $2.5/$4. The house salad - mixed greens, apple, feta and cheese - even a side order felt fairly generous for the price. This was a great light salad to balance off the heavier meat sandwich. The salt potatoes - baby potatoes, kosher salt, garlic butter and parmesan was served whole and probably would have tasted better if the baby potatoes were cut up more so the garlic butter and parmesan can coat more of the potato. Nice breakfast/lunch place on the corner of smith and broadway in a newly renovated location. The space is very angular and doesn't offer a ton of seating; it's not the most comfortable space but it's really a place for a quick breakfast/lunch. You order and pay first and then pick up your order so no table service. Everything is served in disposable boxes so it has a bit of a food court feel. It's open Mon-Sat 8:00AM-3:30PM.

This is my favourite lunch spot. Delicious sandwiches and soups made with fresh ingredients. Today I had the Cubano sandwich which was a special menu item this week and it was excellent.

+.5 for service…read more Seriously, this place deserves your business. It's that good. Working in downtown I find myself frequenting the Exchange District for lunch. K+B is one of the places I often order take out from during COVID, and this past week I was able to dine in here for the first time. The River City Brisket has always been my staple order because it's that good. Normally for take-out I have it with potato salad, but last week I tried it with the jalapeno cheddar mac n cheese...which was really delicious! I do like the potato salad as well, and would choose that in warmer weather. It's a toss up between here and Miss Browns on who makes better brisket, but right now I give the edge to K+B. It's quite pricey for a sandwich at $15 ($11 if you don't include a side), but I found it worth it personally.

Make sure you say light on the ice because they tend to fill your glass to the top with ice and then your paying 4$ for a small portion of liquid. There's also no refills but they are very good at listening, and the next drink I ordered it with two pieces of ice and lots of tea! Yay! Lol. The sandwich's bacon is super tasty and soft. If you just eat the bacon first it kind of steals the show. So don't eat your bacon first! Eat it with the lettuce and the bread. Together it all is tasty. It just goes well all together.

The place goes all-in on the firefighter theme; there's a big mural, every sub has a fire-fighter themed name... it feels very macho in there. They are very big into donations to fire-fighter charities, a little too much so. Front counter staff are friendly the times I've been there. Subs are a little pricey but quality is good. The medium is a good size for me for a small dinner or lunch.

+.5 for service…read more Tried Firehouse Subs for the first time after hearing my friends in the US give positive reviews of it. It was extremely busy when I arrived, and it was consistently busy the entire time I was here. Lots of online orders as well from what I saw. I had the 6-inch brisket hat trick on a whole wheat bread. I considered a footlong as I was quite hungry, however upon seeing some of the portions coming from the kitchen, they were huge...so I opted for a 6-inch instead. It took a while for my order to be served, which I understood as it was extremely busy. The wait was worth it though, as the sub was indeed loaded with toppings, and I found it overall to be really good! The ingredients were fresh, and it didn't seem like anything was pre-made (I could be wrong here though). Service was excellent here. Way better than Subway for the value you get.
