We tried this place with my fiancé and his family for his birthday and wow...this place hit the spot!! The vibe was classy and cozy. The waitress did very well at giving us recommendations about the menu. The drinks were SO incredible and definitely worth getting. But the MAC AND CHEESE...to die for!!! HIGHLY recommend!! I got Kevin's Opus -which was good but it had more of a Smokey flavor. I wish I went with Raffald because it has more of that classic Mac I was looking for. But still so good! Cozy little bistro in downtown Winnipeg tucked into a side street. Friendly service and tasty food. I visited with a work colleague while on a recent business trip and we split a few items to share. We tried the classic Mac n cheese, garlic shrimp and house salad. Everything tasted fresh and was super delicious. Mac and cheese was the perfect mix of creamy and gooey plus the dressing on the salad was bright and refreshing. We each ordered a dessert to go - I went with chocolate cake (massive and so decadent!) and my colleague tried the beignets which she said were delicious. Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, I've started occasionally ordering delivery from restaurants that I've always wanted to try but haven't had the opportunity to. Kevin's was quite high on my list, however many of my friends are lactose intolerant, so it was tough finding a good opportunity to dine here. I ordered thru DoorDash and decided on the Canadiana, which was the original with maple syrup, bacon, and Old Dutch salt and vinegar chips. The chips were definitely an odd combination, but it meshed quite well with the mac and cheese. They even added some extra chips on the side which was quite a bonus. The pasta was cooked perfectly and I liked the cheese and bacon mix to it. For $16 ($20+ after tax and tips) it's a bit steep. At least I've tried it once and know what to expect if I were to dine here in the future. read more

Such a great, quiet, quaint spot. From the moment we walked in we knew it was exactly what we wanted for a night out. Seated as soon as we arrived (with a reservation) at the window where we could watch a film crew shooting in the street. Our server, Kayla, was wonderful - personable and attentive with great suggestions and conversation. Enjoyed two local beers - Half Pints Bulldog Amber and Barn Hammer Grandpa's Sweater. We started with the Mezze plate to share. Loved all the different flavours. It's a definite get again. We each had a Mac and cheese. Comfort food done horribly wrong. Was really looking forward to going to this place after a bunch of people in my French class mentioned it. Boy, was I disappointed. The decor is nice and it has great atmosphere (mostly due to its location, any restaurant in one of the Exchange's old brick buildings is gonna have good atmosphere). I also found the service to be adequate to good. The food, however, is awful. Especially bad were the cauliflower bites. My girlfriend and I were picturing crispy breaded cauliflower florets with a tangy, spicy sauce, but it was almost the exact opposite of that. The breading was soggy, the sauce was spicy but largely flavourless beyond that, and they came with either ranch or blue cheese dipping sauce (presumably to help camouflage the awfulness). Easily the worst cauliflower bites I've ever had. In one of those "blessing in disguise" moments, it ended up that we didn't have to pay for the cauliflower bites because they mistakenly brought us out the wrong mains for a few minutes before they noticed, so they just comped the bites for us to make up for the mistake. (Thank god, 'cause I did not want to pay for that dreck.) As for mains, I got the Blue Cheese and Hops while my girlfriend got the Canadiana. Whoever designed the recipes has no clue about mixing strong and subtle flavours so everything has a chance to come through. Mine was just overpowering blue cheese flavour. It does have caramelized onions in it, but you can't taste them at all. All you get is a tongue hammering of blue cheese. I tried a bite of the Canadiana and it was the same deal only with maple flavour. To be fair, my girlfriend did say the bacon could also be tasted, but she was disappointed that it was basically just an overdose of maple flavour rather than a subtle hint of maple like she was hoping. If you like hanging out in trendy restaurants in the Exchange and you don't care about food, then definitely give Kevin's a try. If you actually want to eat good food, then this is not the place for you. Subtlety is a foreign concept here. They handle flavour the way a bull handles china. read more

Went here for a company luncheon. Our server was nice and somewhat attentive. I ordered the tuna melt. Let's just say that I've had better. The tuna melt came with tomato soup and the server forgot to give me a spoon. Their menu is very limited and you really need to like or love mac and cheese. My friend who was sitting next to me ordered the opus and she didn't get any chicken until she was half way her meal. Also noticed they ripped out the change table from one of the washrooms. So not a family friendly place. The server also made faces when we asked to many questions about the menu. Amazing selection of Mac 'n Cheese... I guess not surprising given that's the food for which they are known! Enjoyed the tuna Mac which was very flavorful. Portions are very large so come hungry or take some home... or as I did, just eat it all. Nice, casual atmosphere and not too loud. It is not very good to judge a restaurant harshly for not being given a spoon, maybe you could ask for a spoon! I'm sure that would solve your problem. We were excited to try this addition to the theatre district and glad we did. We were pressed for time due to a conflation of traffic and theatre timings and they were very accommodating. Friendly service. The menu is simple and features a diverse selection of comfort food, primarily built around mac n cheese. We went for the Nola (cheeses, andouille and blackened chicken) and the Tomato soup. The Nola was nice and cheesy but really lacked seasoning. The blackened chicken was tender but was bland. I asked for some hot sauce and that helped a bit. The Tomato soup also seriously lacked seasoning. It had some nice big chunks of real tomatoes but was missing flavour. Also, the temperature of the soup was borderline warm. The Buttermilk biscuits are fun and you get a healthy portion of sweet honey butter. They have a good selection of local craft beers albeit only in the bottle or can. The tables are in the spirit of a European bistro, i.e. very small and on a fun note, when they turned the lights down they lit many candles on the unoccupied tables but we had to request to get ours lit. Mac and cheese of the creamiest, most savory and delicious quality with great variety, excellent wine, a decent local IPA, superior, friendly service.....,we'd drive 2200 miles just to get more.
