The hot dog was also quite good. I do agree with Jennyfer A.'s comment in that the sauce was lacking, so I did drop a star there. Portion wise it was perfect for someone who was 75% hungry. It took almost 30 minutes for my friend and I to be served at the bar. The first time I was here I had the roundhouse mac n cheese. It was good though nothing special, but the poor service definitely cancelled out what was decent food. The second time I came here on a work dinner, where we somehow stuffed almost 20 people on a long table. Service was a lot better, though maybe it was because I was with a large group. I went during poutine week, so I had the Taco Mac n Cheese Poutine. The mac n cheese was actually mac n cheese bites, which was ehh...but I liked the concept! Cheese curds are good, size was generous, and the nacho beef was cooked well and juicy. So to cancel both visits out, I'll leave is as 3.5/5 for now. If I get good service next visit I'll be happy to bump this up to a 4.

Poutine was decent - not the best I've had in town but not the worst. The portion was very small, and I was surprised to see it priced almost as much as an entree on the bill - they don't have it on the menu a la carte but you can upgrade a side of fries to poutine for $4. Since the pasta dish didn't normally come with fries I asked if they could just do a side of poutine and they said yes (and then charged $14 for it). It wasn't worth it. The blackened chicken fettuccine was disappointing. Our host highly recommended it, and it's a dish I generally enjoy enough I even make it at home. The blackening rub they use had almost no spice, which to me defeats part of the point of "blackened" chicken - the taste was more on the herby side. The noodles themselves were bland and the sauce was almost non-existent - sadly underseasoned. I chopped the chicken up into tiny bits and mixed it all together so that they flavors from the chicken could add at least some excitement to the pasta, but while it helped it didn't quite save the dish. Overall the experience was fairly mediocre. Maybe I should have gotten a burger, but I went with the host's recommendation instead for a dish I normally quite enjoy and came away disappointed. The price of the side of poutine is on me - I didn't ask ahead of time. But it came out to be nearly double what I'd expected for half as much as I'd thought it would be.

There was lots of flavour packed into the tiny cracker, so we knew we were in for a ride. For our first course, we ordered the lavash with onion spread and the shaved dear. Both were stellar (and this is my personal favourite course). The lavash with the spread had an interesting array of flavours and although there was a lot happening it worked really well. The shaved deer was likewise just as good. The herbs and peanut really came through. We then ordered the scallops and the quesadilla. The mushroom quesadilla came in a pocket form, with a mushroom filling. The sauce combination worked really well, and the filling was creamy and well-flavoured. The scallops were fine, though a little disappointing. The pickled rhubarb, although amazing, kind of took attention from the scallops themselves, which was just decent. Our mains were the drunk prik chicken and the ravioli. The chicken was really good, and it was reminiscent of an elevated Chinese fried rice dish. The chicken was cooked perfectly and it was deceptively huge. The ravioli was quite nice as well. The filling was pork filling was great and savoury, though I wasn't a big fan of the braised vegetable. Finally, the dessert came. We ordered the tres leches and the coconut sorbet. The sorbet was really refreshing and I liked how every aspect incorporated the coconut (from the ice cream to the whip). The tres leches cake was next level and is probably my favourite thing I had that day. The cake was moist and sweet, and the tortilla ice cream elevated it. They gave us free chocolates to end our meal, which was again a nice surprise to an amazing dinner. I like how their menu incorporates different cuisines (such as Chinese, Mexican, and Filipino) and they do so in an elevated interesting way. Do keep in mind that this place is more of an upscale dining experience so you may find the 4-course portions lacking, in which case you can order the honey buns which I heard great things about. Some were fabulous, some were interesting, all of them made us think about what we were eating and the layers of flavor and texture. My wife had a cocktail; I had a very nice mocktail.
