Reuben, soup, and potato salad to go
Harvey G.

Oscars has a walk up counter to order to go or continue to seating and they have waitstaff. I ordered to go and sat a a table since they weren't busy to wait for my order. Waitress was very nice and brought me a drink while I waited. Had the Reuben with potato salad and added tomato soup. Sandwich was great as well as the soup! I would purchase again.

Excellent Breakfast! I walked by several times thinking it was just a bagel/sandwich shop. Wrong - full breakfast, cooked to perfection and presented well! Nice staff. Support small business. Highly recommended!

Oscar's serves sandwiches the old fashioned way. Healthy portions and fresh ingredients which are generous in portions. They have a condiment which is normally served with the Reuben sandwich, it is a beet/horseradish/1000 island dressing combination. It went well with my Corned beef platter. Stop by for real food when you are in downtown Winnipeg.

The location is a bit hidden on Hargrave on the main floor of an office building. The decor is nothing interesting but the food and service are great! They have various daily specials. I like the Thursday special - clubhouse with half dill for $7.95. You get a nice clubhouse with crispy bacon on white bread (or rye if you want). The dill pickle is delicious. "Oscar's Rubin" platter ($10.75) includes 1/4 lb corned beef with cheese and sauerkraut on rye is yum. The size here is nothing close to the deli places I've tried in Montreal but that's a good thing as I find it more of an approachable size. Not sure why he spells his reuben like "Rubin"...anyhow, I realized that I've never had a reuben before and wonder why I've never ordered one sooner?? Great sandwich but half is enough for me at lunch as you also get coleslaw or potato salad. The coleslaw is tangy and not overdressed. Service is very prompt and warm. Nice place for comfort food and a fast lunch.

Had the chopped liver sandwich. Most folks don't like chopped liver, but if you do I recommend stopping at Oscars Deli

+.5 for service…read more Seriously, this place deserves your business. It's that good. Working in downtown I find myself frequenting the Exchange District for lunch. K+B is one of the places I often order take out from during COVID, and this past week I was able to dine in here for the first time. The River City Brisket has always been my staple order because it's that good. Normally for take-out I have it with potato salad, but last week I tried it with the jalapeno cheddar mac n cheese...which was really delicious! I do like the potato salad as well, and would choose that in warmer weather. It's a toss up between here and Miss Browns on who makes better brisket, but right now I give the edge to K+B. It's quite pricey for a sandwich at $15 ($11 if you don't include a side), but I found it worth it personally.

Make sure you say light on the ice because they tend to fill your glass to the top with ice and then your paying 4$ for a small portion of liquid. There's also no refills but they are very good at listening, and the next drink I ordered it with two pieces of ice and lots of tea! Yay! Lol. The sandwich's bacon is super tasty and soft. If you just eat the bacon first it kind of steals the show. So don't eat your bacon first! Eat it with the lettuce and the bread. Together it all is tasty. It just goes well all together.

This place does steamed subs, and they're like Quiznos or Jersey Mikes in that you're ordering a…read morespecific sub from a menu, not so much customizing it like Subway. The place goes all-in on the firefighter theme; there's a big mural, every sub has a fire-fighter themed name... it feels very macho in there. They are very big into donations to fire-fighter charities, a little too much so. Front counter staff are friendly the times I've been there. Subs are a little pricey but quality is good. The medium is a good size for me for a small dinner or lunch.

+.5 for service…read more Tried Firehouse Subs for the first time after hearing my friends in the US give positive reviews of it. It was extremely busy when I arrived, and it was consistently busy the entire time I was here. Lots of online orders as well from what I saw. I had the 6-inch brisket hat trick on a whole wheat bread. I considered a footlong as I was quite hungry, however upon seeing some of the portions coming from the kitchen, they were huge...so I opted for a 6-inch instead. It took a while for my order to be served, which I understood as it was extremely busy. The wait was worth it though, as the sub was indeed loaded with toppings, and I found it overall to be really good! The ingredients were fresh, and it didn't seem like anything was pre-made (I could be wrong here though). Service was excellent here. Way better than Subway for the value you get.
