Awesome hotdogs and more. Macaroni and potato salads. Also excellent ice cream. Very friendly staff and a 50's diner vibe.

    Nick's Nest awesome historic building.

This past summer my girlfriend and I dined at two restaurants in Western Massachusetts that have been open for so many years that my grandparents had actually dined there back when they were dating in their youth: the Student Prince and Nick's Nest. And what I learned is that both of these badass places have been stayin' alive by the strength of their unique and delicious offerings, upon which nostalgia is just the mustard on the dog. This paragraph is for hotdog lovers. Coming from somebody who loves roadfood in general, hotdogs in specific, and has a laser-like focus on eating hotdogs, for a decade in Chicago, and two plus decades on the East Coast: you have to go to Nick's Nest for the hotdog. The Nick's Nest dog is has a unique golden buttery umami-ful flavor profile, with a gentle snap, on toasted bun, that's in complete harmony with their signature chili. The cheese fries are awesome. What else is there to say? Nick's Nest is old school counter service. The speed of the hotdogs means although you are able to eat for a full meal, the efficiency may make it feel more like a snack. I'm not a doctor, but I would prescribe at least a minute of breathing deeply after each hotdog is ingested, to allow the brain to best absorb the gentle snap of hotdog satisfaction. And then order some ice cream.

This is their Cole Slaw, cost $2.49 for 2oz.

If there was a way to leave zero stars I would. My wife and I were enjoying a Sunday ride and she mentioned she was craving a chili dog. We have been hearing from folks "you have to try Nick's Nest". So we did. What a disappointment. My wife's chili dog was cold. I had their "Reuben" sessional hot dog. It was cold, anemic excuse for a hot dog. Costco hot dogs far better, twice the size and half the cost. As to the rest of our order- Cole Slaw, $2.49 for less than 2oz Home Baked Beans under cooked, no seasoning or flavor. Some beans were still crunchy. Onion Rings- under cooked, greasy, no flavor or seasoning. Not homemade, definitely frozen. Loaded Tater Tots- these were fair, a bit cold and greasy but at least had some flavor Two Frappes"essentially were flavored milk, not enough ice cream. No flavor, the St Patrick's monthly flavor no mint. Nick's Nest you have been measured and found wanting. I cannot in good conscience recommend dining here.

    Melt-in-your-mouth dogs and beans!

No visit with my New England cousins would be complete without a pilgrimage to my late father's favorite childhood restaurant! Serving tasty treats to Holyoke for two years shy of TEN DECADES, Nick's Nest has rightly attained the status of beloved institution. Their 1920's recipe melt-in-your-mouth franks served in split top buns are unlike anything you are likely to find anywhere else. Ive been coming here since my Dad brought me as a tyke and I admit Im still thrilled by the vintage Chicago Coin band box in the corner. At the drop of a coin in one of the the table top jukeboxes which line the walls, a curtain magically parts revealing a pint-sized Swing era bandstand populated by tiny mechanical musicians who move and sway to the music! There's even an ingenious pully contraption used by the cashier to open the front door for customers as they exit with hands full of hot dogs!

Hot dogs taste exactly the way they did when I used to eat there as a kid in the 80s. They're boiled hot dogs not grilled so if you don't like boiled hot dogs you won't like them. A lot of people are complaining they didn't look "cooked". That's because boiled dogs don't get that char on them like grilled dogs. The dogs I had we're perfectly cooked. Plus the addition of fries and onion rings are a great touch. The beans were never my favorite but everyone I go with loves them. Love how the inside has been preserved. Hope this place stays around for a long time.

Basic boiled hot dogs on a cold bun. Not the experience my mom told me about from back when she used to go.

It has a cool vibe with lots of vintage looking signage on the walls including locally inspired ones. We ordered the nachos with chicken and they were really good. It was a huge amount of nachos, easily enough for four people. We also had the garlic Parmesan wings which were mildly flavored but quite tasty and fresh. I don't think these were frozen wings. I had the bacon jam burger which was delicious! The burger was fresh beef, again, not frozen, which is a huge thing for me! The bacon jam wasn't too sweet. Really nice. My wife had the hot honey chicken sandwich which she really enjoyed. They have a great selection of beers on tap as well as cans/bottles. I enjoyed a couple of Sam Adams Summer Ales and my wife had a mango hard cider. The service was great. They were attentive but not overbearing. My only gripe is that they don't serve dessert. No soup of the day, as of that moment I am guessing. Went with a steak bomb for lunch, came out relatively quick for how busy it was, but there was a lot of beer drinkers sitting down too so maybe not all getting lunch. The sandwich was delicious. Fresh bread, all the fixings were spot on, and the side of fries were hot! Would order this again. Only thing that could have made today better is seeing the subway series game played on the big screen instead of college softball. Will be back!

The woman working in the truck didn't really engage much, but she made an incredible hamburger and order of fresh cut french fries. From the time I order until the time I started stuffing my face was under 5 minutes. I was surprised how delicious my food was and happy that I decided to stop. It was nice to sit at their picnic table to eat especially since it was so warm out. The only awkward part was that they were so close to the main road, and I felt like I was on exhibit. Overall, this is a great food truck which is super clean and makes a ton of great food. You need to give it a shot if you are in the street food mood.

This lady is off-the-boat Portuguese and makes Bifanas to order. These are Portuguese pork cutlet sandwiches and hers are first rate. She's got pork marinating and throws it on the griddle with onions, peppers and garlicky butter sauce (I believe, you can barely understand her so I'm not sure!) which are finished with cheese on a squishy roll. It's customary to slather this up with some hot sauce and it is DELICIOUS. For about $7 you can combo it with some very ordinary fries from the freezer and a soda. I've been grabbing these by the handful for years whenever I have out of town guests and they never disappoint. I'm less impressed by her chourico so I just stick to Bifanas. Big place that takes up a entire corner in downtown Chicopee, MA. Three parking lots behind the restaurant. Offering lunch & dinner Sun-Thu 11:30am-9pm, Fri & Sat 11:30am-10pm. We visited here on Saturday evening April 18. 2026. This place was highly recommended by our friends from the German-american Club of Albany (NY). Half our party had been here many previous times & for the other half, it was our first time. This day they were hosting their annual wild game feast in the banquet hall. 50+ people attended this event. Munich Haus has 20 or so special events per year. Our party of six was here for dinner. Our server was the spunky Maria who made this a memorable dinner. We were here for their famous schnitzels. A hearty meal excellently prepared and served eight ways. Comes with soup or salad and choice of two sides (i.e. spaetzle, potato pancakes, sauerkraut, red cabbage, or chef's vegetable). Also you can get a schnitzel sampler of 3 varieties. WOW! Also offered are sauerbraten, rouladen, chicken Reisling, braised lamb shanks, a variety of wursts (sausages) and delicious dessets. It's simply WUNDERBAR! Many thanks again to Maria & the rest of the Munich Haus staff for a tasty & memorable dinner road trip "for a taste of Germany, no passport required."
