Not because of glitz, the restaurant is in an old mill building and the interior and furniture rough, but because the staff was welcoming, caring and clearly well trained and the food was wonderful. The appetizer we had was simply slice tomatoes with dressing. The tomatoes were fresh and flavorful as if just picked and ripened and the oil based dressing was light and full flavored while still letting the tomatoes fresh taste come through. My entree was a unique blend of shrimp, ground and minced pork, cellophane noodles and vegetables in a well spiced sauce that was surprisingly amazing. A simple dinner for two with an appetizer split between us and two entrees and a mixed drink and two non-alcoholic beers came to $96 without tip and was worth every penny. The inclusion of so much fat, especially with the tacos, made the dishes really heavy, and they desperately needed some citrus to balance out the meal. The sweet potato was slightly raw and crunchy, at first I thought they were roasted carrots but they were in fact, sweet potatoes. The seasoning was fine. Portions were ok, though I would have preferred to get more tostones (4-5 slices for $5) for the price. The salad tasted suspiciously of meat. I know this is not a vegetarian establishment but it made me concerned about cross contamination. I would not go out of my way to eat here but the service was nice. This is one of those reviews where I wish I could give partial stars: 2.75 stars.

It's customary to slather this up with some hot sauce and it is DELICIOUS. For about $7 you can combo it with some very ordinary fries from the freezer and a soda. I've been grabbing these by the handful for years whenever I have out of town guests and they never disappoint. I'm less impressed by her chourico so I just stick to Bifanas. She'll offer you a loyalty punch card that you should grab to earn your free sandwiches. Like any good food truck you'll find a small line of people out front on any given day in any weather. The only thing missing (I think) would be a nice cocktail to go with the food. Supposedly they are receiving their liquor license within the next few weeks so we will have to go back for that to try some drinks. The decor is pretty standard for a Japanese restaurant, though some of their neon signs are absolutely adorable. The food delivery is real cute, the food comes in this cool box delivered to your table.
